  • Sounds excellent with guitar
Color: BLUE CHORUS
For $44 at time of review, this chorus effect pedal provides both excellent sound and value. The pedal sounds great with a clean electric guitar tone, and the controls are simple to understand and adjust. The pedal has individual controls for the rate, depth, and mix of the chorus effect. The size of the pedal is suitable for most pedalboards and the pedal is built to last. The switch feels very durable as well as the potentiometer knobs and the pedal casing. I would expect this pedal to hold up very well to touring and heavy use. The chorus effect is very versatile and functional in many genres, making this effect pedal an excellent choice for aspiring musicians. ... show more

  • Good Quality, Basic Chorus Pedal
Color: BLUE CHORUS
I have a few Ghostfire products and like them, so it was a no-brainer to want to try one of their new line of pedals. Actually I believe that the 4 pedals that Ghostfire recently introduced represents their first foray into the guitar pedal arena. What's Good About This Pedal? 1. It has a lightweight, metal body and I like the color and the graphics (not everyone will but that's okay). 2. This pedal is easy to use right out of the box. There is an instruction manual but the controls are fairly self-explanatory if you've been around a few pedals. 3. The chorus sounds are quite good and there is very little tone-altering going on - which is not always the case with a lower-end chorus pedal. I've had other chorus pedals in this price range and they drastically affected my tone - they were either too bright or too muddy-sounding. This one leans a bit toward the bass end when engaged but not by much, and if you want to dial that out, that is possible. I was pleased with the tones of this pedal overall. 4. This pedal takes a 9V battery which is getting harder to find these days. What Could Be Improved With This Pedal? 1. I wish the DC power supply jack was at the top! It is on the side of the pedal, close to the input jack, which I find to be an awkward place for it. 2. I find that the more subtle sounds on this pedal are better sounding than going full-out on the controls. When moving past the 12-o'clock mark on the controls, it starts to sound a bit messy although that could also be my sloppy guitar playing, lol. But I find that you really have to play around with the 3 controls to find a sweet spot and it can take awhile. I am not a big chorus aficionado and I find that a little goes a long away. 3. Generally this pedal plays well with other effects pedals (especially with a flanger) but it can get messy sounding with too much distortion. Again, playing around with the chorus effect and the amount of distortion or overdrive will probably lead to a better balance. SUMMARY: Overall this chorus pedal is much better than a few others I've had in this price range. Whether it is the best one in its range I cannot say, but I do think it has a lot going for it, and the fact that it did not seem to add any noise to my chain was a plus too. ... show more

  • Great Basic Chorus
Color: BLUE CHORUS
First of all, this is a very well-built pedal. Metal casing, knobs, and the switch are all great quality. Controls are simple and work as labeled. The pedal sounds great even in the most extreme tone settings. I would strongly recommend giving this a try if are you looking for a classic chorus effect for a reasonable price. ... show more

  • Super simple and clean sounding chorus
Color: BLUE CHORUS
Definitely surprised by this pedal. Was not expecting a really huge chorus sound and really was just wanting something simple. This really does what I wanted in a chorus pedal. It's a small footprint and fits easily in my pedalboard. It's noiseless and doesn't color my tone even when it's off. Controls are smooth and no noise when using it. ... show more

  • Pleasing Retro Distortion Sound
Color: BLACK DISTORTION
It's an OK distortion pedal that produces a pleasant distortion effect. If you take the back off it, there's a space and connector for a 9V battery. The circuit is based around a CA3130 Op Amp which is a quality component and there's good quality capacitors and diodes for the discrete components. It seems to be a direct passthrough in that, with no power, the input is sent directly to the output. Power (either 9V external or a 9V battery internally) is only enabled when a jack is plugged into the input and, when power is on, a red LED lights on the front. I tried it with a Fender Strat (MiM Player series) that has single coil pickups. When off, the clean sound was unaffected and, when on, the distortion was well controlled through slight to harsh with a 'nice' level at around the 2 O-clock position where it gave me a sound similar to the Smoke on the Water (Deep Purple) opening Riff with lots of sustain. I'm being generous scoring it at 5 stars, I'd rate it at 4.6 but rounded up. Why? There is noticeable but not bad background hiss & noise when distortion is in play (not unusual for such pedals), the construction seems adequate with a painted metal box with a hole in the side that the power connector is (approximately) aligned with - I was able to plug power in but fatter connectors might have an issue as you have to go through the hole to fully seat in the connector which is slightly set back. The battery rattles around inside (some rubber padding would be nice) and you have to position it carefully in order to get the cover back on properly. It comes with nothing - no battery, no cords, just 4 stick-on rubber feet and a tiny instruction sheet. The price seems a little high to me for what you get but, if it went on sale, it may well be just what you need. ... show more
