I purchased this as a gift for my mother, who has wanted a Cuckoo clock for years. We had a small one when I was growing up and between moving and what not, it just stopped working many years ago. Mom lives with us now, and I wanted to get her something really special. I wanted an authentic, traditional, mechanical clock. There's just something wrong with a cuckoo clock that needs batteries, in my opinion. This clock fills the bill. You can manually silence the cuckoo and chimes for night if you wish with a little pull lever, but we do not use that option. The cuckoo and chimes both have a pleasant, resonant sound. This clock is a gorgeous work of art. The details of the carvings are so wonderfully done, the quality of the work really shines through. We love the chalet theme, as we ourselves live in a log home in the forest, in the mountains of Montana. The woodpile and kindling, the owl, the bunny and the trees are all so charming and the colors of the clock are very rich and pleasing. The clock was a breeze to set up, and the instructions very easy to follow. If the clock runs a little slow or fast, it is easy to adjust; and once adjusted it keeps very good time. It comes with a nice little booklet about the Cuckoo clock tradition, the clock-maker, and a certificate of authenticity, showing that it was made in the Black Forest of Germany. It comes with a DVD as well, but we didn't watch that so I can't speak to what is on it. This clock was worth every single penny. Mom loves it, and so do we. ... show more

    • Lovely cuckoo clock
This was a present from Santa to me and my husband this year; we had enjoyed reading out loud together "The Cuckoo Clock," a fairy tale by one Mrs. Molesworth. Santa had to look quite hard to find a cuckoo clock whose cuckoo sound wasn't a recording -- even much more expensive cuckoo clocks seemed to have the same recording contained by the least expensive clocks, a recording with an echoing cuckoo along with background "stream" sounds. How annoying! The cuckoo sound on this clock is simple, clear, and sweet. Two warnings I would give about this clock are that 1) The chains are so long that one must hang the clock pretty high if one doesn't want the cones to hit the floor; and 2) It really isn't possible to get it to keep time accurately. You just have to resign yourself to resetting it daily or every other day, or just letting the clock run a bit fast or slow. We don't mind that terribly. The clock really is lovely, and a it's marvel to contemplate how it works. ... show more

    • I Love this Clock!
I was a bit worried because I bought this while visiting family in the US and couldn’t actually check to see how the clock performed until I went back to my home overseas. When I finally got home, I hung the clock first thing and was so happy with pretty much every aspect of it. What a beautiful, intricate, well-crafted piece that we are sure to cherish for years to come. The packaging was secure, the setup was easy, and the fine tuning is going pretty fast. The time it keeps is accurate (give or take 1-2 minutes...I’m still playing with the pendulum), it is the perfect volume, and the cuckoo has a rich sounding call. I have not yet tried to turn the sound off or use the night option. I will also note that I did send a message to the seller via the Amazon website and received a response within a few days. I was thankful for that. All in all, I will say that if I knew then what I know now about this clock, I would not for one second hesitate to purchase it. I hope this review helps those looking for a bright and cheery time piece to add to their home. ... show more

It's a beautiful looking clock, exactly what I wanted, and a great fit for my home. The clock itself seems to run a minute too fast (ex: cuckoo at 11:59) or a minute too slow (ex: 12:01), and no matter how much I play with the pendulum length, even the slightest bit to account for the subtle inaccuracy, the cuckoo bird never seems to come out exactly at the time I want. After a week of trying to get it to match up to my phone's time, I decided it wasn't that important if the bird came out a bit too early/late. Other than that, I love it. Thank you! ... show more

I was amazed how fast I received this beautiful clock - only 3 days from Germany to the US! The packaging was great and the clock arrived in perfect shape. Setup was easy, and there is even a video available online to help, if needed. The clock is so beautiful – we are thrilled with the quality of the craftsmanship. I actually ordered this clock as a present for my wife's birthday as a reminder of our Honeymoon travels through Germany. It was important to me to order this gift directly from a German company so that I could be sure it was 100% authentic (this clock comes with a nice certificate of authenticity!). Beyond the quality of the woodworking, the clock’s design really appealed to me – It’s a very peaceful scene full of color and charm. We live out in the country near the woods so I appreciated the owl and the rustic touches. It actually looks better in person than the pictures online convey! Its still amazing for me to believe its all done by hand - even the clock dial and hands are wood! It is truly a piece or art more so than a clock. But on top of all of that, the clock also keeps time perfectly. I highly recommend this clock to anyone who is looking to add a beautiful focal piece to their home. Beautiful authentic Black Forest German made cuckoo! Beautifully and safely packaged-just follow the easy to understand directions and you will have your clock up and running within minutes. Could not be more pleased with our new clock. After growing up with a cuckoo in my home as a kid, have been researching cuckoo clocks for almost 10 years and finally decided on this one and VERY glad I did! Love everything about it from the whimsical little forest animals, authentic cuckoo sound (not some recorded digital sound like you see from many sellers) solid wood construction, accurate time keeping, and only have to wind every 8 days.     • Nice looking clock, but doesn't work as it should
I ordered this based on reviews and the sellers reputation. The item I ordered did not initially work after we hung it on the wall. The cuckoo was not making any sound, nor was the pendulum freely swinging. We looked online and emailed the seller, who was responsive to our situation. We ordered a replacement and while we were awaiting the replacement, the original clock began working, somewhat. The cuckoo works but the door won't close. Once the replacement arrived, it worked immediately out of the box, with the exception of the cuckoo. So, we will be sending one of them back, and hopefully, get the other to work correctly. I wanted so much to give a five-star review, but with the price we paid, I just can't. Yes, we can take it to a clock shop and incur additional expense with getting it fixed, but for the amount of money we paid, it is unacceptable to have a clock that doesn't work as it should. The look is fantastic and if the clock had worked, would have definitely given it a 5-star rating. I hope we can get this working properly as this was a Christmas gift for my husband, who is from Germany, and I wanted to give him a nice clock to supplement his collection. Unfortunately, both of us, were less than impressed with this clock's performance. ... show more
