Used and using during the 2020 LNU Cal Fires. We had bought it months prior and had been running it pretty much non stop during the summer months as a white noise and general pollen/dust filter which had made and makes a huge difference in our bedroom freshness and drowning out early morning mockingbirds that can be a bit annoying for my wife. When the fires hit last week this small unit was put in smoke clean up duty for the entire house (which it obviously is not designed for in a 2500 sq ft house) but it has been doing a great job as the sole Hepa filter as we lent our higher capacity unit to an elderly family member closer to the burn area and she needed it worse than us. Can be a bit loud at medium and high settings but it also moves quite a bit of air on both sides of the unit which is what you want in any filter. We have been in AQI smoke/particulate levels ranging from 150-500 ppm <2.5 microns over this past weeks (so smoky and thick particulate matter) with periods of more normal 50-60's AQI and without the Germ Guardian the smoke levels within our house would have certainly permeated throughout the entire home otherwise. For a space say under 500-700 square feet (say a good sized family room or a very big bedroom) It works admirably and really all you might need. Surely beats nothing. ... show more

This is what I was looking for to remove or at least reduce smells from cooking in the kitchen that waft and linger into the living room. I'm in a 900 sq/ft 1 BR apt and set this thing on a timer and let it hum away. Even at full 3x fan setting it's not overly loud. The UV option is nice, but do not use for more than 1 hour in small settings from what I've read - could lead to headache!?? I only use that every now & then without issue. The filter pads can be purchased separately, and it's easy to clean. Can see how much dust is picked up on the filters. Nice look to it in white IMHO. Blends right in. ... show more

I’m allergic to cats, yet have one. Add in a dust allergy, and air filters are an absolute necessity. I have 2 running 24/7 in my 900 sq ft apartment, which has been sufficient. I keep this new filter in my bedroom, with the door closed at all times. My bedroom is about 170 sq ft. I can smell and taste a difference in the air between my bedroom and the rest of my apartment. This probably means I could use a 3rd running 24/7 in my house. I notice a BIG difference in my allergies / asthma. The filter is always caked with dust when I change it. I’ve had the old germguardian since about 2017. I’ve went through many other brands that were subpar (don’t get TheraPure). This new version is definitely an upgrade. The design is sleek and pleasing to look at, plus the motor is more quiet. It also takes the same size filter as the old version (B). The size is also comparable as you will see from my pics. My favorite part is that the return air vents are on the sides and not the front. The old version had a front return vent, which gets very dusty and looks gross. That dust isn’t possible to completely remove with a vacuum or sponge. I like the the new versions return vents are hidden, so I won’t have to waste a half hour every month scrubbing the front of the machine. ... show more

I bought this mainly to help with my pollen allergy. Consumer Reports says it performs well relative to other brands and models, but studies show air purifiers in general are not miraculous for allergy symptoms, so this is just part of my strategy to reduce pollen in my bedroom. I also keep the windows and door closed, and only spend time in there after showering. Between that and using a saline nasal rinse, I have been able to sleep pretty well so far this spring. Pros: 1. The machine itself and the filters are cheap and perform well compared to other brands. 2. It looks nice and doesn't take up much room. 3. Seems sturdy, though I haven't had it long. Cons: 1. There is no auto setting and no air quality sensor, so it's up to you to decide how polluted your air is and choose a fan setting accordingly. The options are stiff breeze, gale force, and hurricane. I have another, more expensive air purifier that I keep on auto in my living space. It spends most of the time barely on, keeping noise to a minimum, and just perks up when it senses air pollution, usually when I'm cooking. This one doesn't do that, but it's working out for my specific use case (on all day in a room only used at night). 2. It's pretty loud. It's significantly louder than my other air purifier, so I almost always turn it off when I'm going to spend time in the room where it is. I can tolerate it being on the lowest setting while I'm awake, but it would be too loud for me to have on while sleeping. 3. This would be true for any air purifier, I think, but don't expect a revolution in dust or pet hair. Though this should help some, those things will still exist in your space. This thing is amazing! We got my daughter her very own "puppy" (Luca is a year old) unfortunately within about 2 weeks it became apparent she was allergic. But this guy had our hearts and my daughter was convinced he was her soul mate and the light of her life. So... what could I do. I decided to try an air purifier to see if it would help. It arrived on time, had all features I was looking for, it's very reasonably priced, was so easy to set up I could do it myself (props to me) and... its SUPER quiet. I love the UV light feature. Within 12 hours all her symptoms cleared up. No more runny nose or itchy eyes. She could breath again. And on a side note, her room smelled alot better too lol. I'm not suggesting this as a replacement for medical treatment for animal allergies as I know personally how dangerous they can be. This was a last ditch effort to save our pup we all loved and luckily for us it worked. We love this purifier. Plan on getting one for each room of the house. Highly recomend. ... show more

Purchased the first Germ Guardian air purifier for our appro 10 x 12 foot bedroom, after researching them due to worsening allergies/sinus issues. It made such an impact after just a few days that we have purchased two more! One for our living room (appro 12 x 16') and one for my mother-in-law. Given the wide price range of air purifiers, we feel that this is a tremendous value for the money. We ran on full speed for the first 72 hours, checking filter every day just to see. Lots of airborne particulates being captured but the tower filter is holding up very well -- we were worried we'd overdo it (our house is just a dust & dander pit) but that has not been an issue at all. Even at top speed in bedroom, it's a pleasant low white noise in the background. On lowest speed you cannot hear it unless right next to it. White tower blends in pretty well, takes up hardly an space (has about an 8" square footprint) but you do have to position at least a foot away from any walls for air circulation. UV circle light is blue and quite calming, not obtrusive at all. Very light and easy to move around (has a good handle on the back for lifting) and comes out of the box ready to go: just plug it in! We have a very shaggy dog and live in the Washington DC area, so lots of pollen and dust here. This unit has already made a huge difference and we couldn't be happier with it. ... show more

Since setting this up in my bedroom I’ve felt the air doesn’t have an odor anymore. It feels fresher and cleaner. I feel better when I wake up in the mornings. It’s quiet but has a little bit of a blue light that I just use as a night light. It’s easy to use and seems effective.

Thsi is a nice quiet air filter that is thin, not too tall, and doesn't take up much space in the room. I have had it on Moderate (there are 3 settings) constantly in my home and it has lasted 6 months before the "change filter" light came on. I have a small dog who sheds a lot and I got feedback from family that my place was smelling like dog after a few months of having her. I got this filter and placed it in our living room where the dog spends the most time. Since having it, nobody has made any more commentd about the dog smell.
