Experience a quick and easy upgrade for your Genmitsu Desktop CNC. The GS-775M motor fits all Genmitsu 3018 series CNC router machine: 3018/3018-MX3/3018-PROVer. Easy Installation for a quick swap of the OEM Spindle. This motor with higher speed for you to do more engraving work efficiently. The motor speed is 24V 20000 RPM, which is 10000 RPM higher than the original CNC spindle motor. You can do much more engraving and drilling work with this great motor. The motor is suitable for desktop drilling machines, desktop milling machines, CNC router machines, cotton candy machines, small lathes, precision machine battery vehicles, toy cars, etc. Note: The offline controller of 3018-PRO can't work with this 20k spindle. The way to get the new GS-775M spindle motor up to speed is to increment its runup using a sequence of GCODE commands. Those are shown here: (Applies to new SainSmart Genmitsu GS-775M Spindle Motor) (Spindle Speed 10000 RPM X 2; Set 10000 value for max spindle speed in Candle Settings) (Ramp up spindle speed GCODE to prevent power supply overload) M03 S1000 G4 P0.5 M03 S2000 G4 P0.5 M03 S5000 G4 P0.5 M03 S10000 (Spindle is now running at full speed) This method is known to prevent overload of the power supply. An alternative is to replace the stock power supply with one having greater current capacity (24V 8-10A), but that may burn out the controller with an abrupt 100% speed command. However, a larger power supply should provide more cutting power from the GS-775M spindle, but the power-up sequence shown above is still recommended. Yes, it is loud, but no louder than my wood router.

First thing I did was measure the runout. I put the motor in a vise and placed a dial indicator on the side of the collet holder (without the collet cap). Rotating by hand, the total runout is .001". This is very good. The collet holder is glued onto the motor shaft. I suspect this is because they tweak the thing until it's true. I'll bet this is why they give you a holder with the motor. You are purchasing a system. I would recommend that you never remove the holder because it'll never go back on straight. Went to install it on my cheapo 3018 and it wouldn't fit. There is a metal band on the motor, presumably so it will fit larger machines. The band simply snaps off, which allowed the motor to fit into the Z-axis bracket just fine. The diameter of the motor, without the band, is 1.65" I read all the reviews about ramping up the motor, but just for fun, I simply turned it on at full speed with the Candle interface. The motor came on without any issues. However, just for good measure, I will put the ramp-up code into the header section of the gcode generator so it's always there for all NC program files. The motor is very loud, but not because it's unbalanced or out of round. It runs at 20K RPM, so I would expect it to be loud. It isn't any louder than my Craftsman wood router. I was hesitant to purchase this motor, but since Amazon has a decent return policy, I decided to risk it. So far, I'm pleased. ... show more

Although I haven't had this for long, I felt compelled to write this. I have a TT 3018. The first few cuts I made in wood were disastrous. Basically, the ER11 coupler that came with it keep moving. I tried fixing it but found out that the motor shaft was 4.89mm and the coupler hole was 5.25mm. Horrible vibration and it eventually fell out while cutting. I decided to buy this item since it advertised 20000 RPM and folks had good like with it's balance. The motor installed in the 3018 without an issue. Turning it on, without any cutting proved to be much more quite that the stock motor/coupler, indicating good balance. I also have a handheld RPM meter, bought here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q6M95PF Which I used to verify max RPM. It got 19800 no problem. I was able to also see 20700 but good enough. I also tested a few different motor speed settings, which showed that my cheap controller can get different speeds out of this motor. $30 set to 20000 Hope this long table helps Setting: RPM S100M3 3200 S200M3 8000 S300M3 12000 S400M3 14600 S500M3 16000 S600M3 17700 S700M3 18500 S800M3 18500 S900M3 19700 This speed stuff is not exact but I'm happy to see that I can set different speeds if needed. Original motor supported 8000RPM max. I also did a 90mm x 100mm x 12m (depth) carving using 1/8 end mill and a v-bit at max RPM. Took about 3 hours. This motor cut through just fine. No over heating, not excess vibration, no stalls. For $25, throw out the original motor and get this. ... show more

Spindle gives excellent performance compared to the stock 10k. Has alot more power and the extra rpm allows you to run higher feeds and speeds. Alot less likely to chatter with the small bits hogging out materials. My first test was on 1/2" birch plywood running 20k rpm 30in/min feed 9in/min plunge and 0.028" depth per pass and it flew through like a hot knife through butter. That being said this is my second spindle the first one was so out of balance it was super loud and shook the machine like crazy compared to the stock spindle which was nearly silent. I put in for an exchange and the second spindle I received runs perfect just like the 10k but much better performance. Don't settle for one that is loud and shakes they aren't supposed to. ... show more

Great upgrade

This was a great upgrade to my 3018 pro. I upgraded the y axis and this spindle together and now I have a machine I can actually use to do bigger projects. It is considerably louder than the old one but no more than I expected, after all it is twice the RPM. First carve with it was 4 hours and it preformed fantastic. Much cleaner results. There is a slight vibration at around 14,000 to 15,000 rpm but nothing terrible. I will just avoid running it at those speeds. For the price it out preformed my expectations. ... show more

Good spindle upgrade, great customer service

The 20k spindle is a very good upgrade to the base spindle that comes with the 3018-PROVer. You do have to either get a stronger power supply or ramp up the spindle speed properly, which is what I do, but otherwise it is a very quick and easy swap. This spindle cuts much faster, cutting my times by about 30%. One minor word of warning - running a CNC is never quiet, but this spindle is much louder than the original. What really puts this spindle over the top for me is the outstanding customer service I’ve received. My spindle started sparking internally, possibly from the brushes wearing out, after six months of pretty hard use, and when I reached out to SainSmart support, they immediately replaced it for me. They have been incredibly helpful every time I’ve had a question or an issue. I can’t rate their support here, but it would definitely get five stars too! ... show more

I put this into a 3018 frame with a 24v/40A power supply ... It will never see 20k rpm, 1/10 of that, cutting pcbs

As another reviewer stated, the collet nut provided with this is absolutely terribly machined. There is an internal band that is machined so far off center the collet cannot connect to the machined surface in the nut. I actually noticed this problem with original nut supplied with my 3018-PROver. That one was not quite as bad so is somewhat usable for some rough work, etc. First picture is the nut provided. Second is the one that came with my original machine. The 3rd is both and you can see the old one on the left doesn't quite contact, but you can see the one on the right (the new one) doesn't even come close.
