Genmistu 20K spindle is trash! It ran for 2 hours and died. Yes, I purchased the upgraded power supply before you ask. Yes I was using the upgraded power supply. STAY AWAY from this product, unless you like making returns to Amazon. This has completely changed my opinion of Genmistu, I was getting comfortable with their products and was considering a larger machine, guess I'll find another brand and start the whole process over again. One star - it died after a roughing pass, so the job is half done. Now I have to perform a spindle replacement in the middle of a job, put the old spindle back in the machine. I have to adjust speeds and feeds half way through this job. What a waste of time, think there will be response from Genmistu? I'll update if there is. Until then, 1 star, I'd give them less if I could. UPDATE: Genmistu sent a new spindle motor right away! The customer service on Amazon is very responsive and I was pleasantly surprised. I have since purchased another CNC from their Amazon store, it is supposed to arrive Friday. I'm overall pleased with the performance of this smaller one that I have currently. Now that I find their customer service to be responsive, I have no reservations about future purchases with them. I have since purchased a 300 watt motor and power supply, and I am completely satisfied with that order. (I even ran a 9 hour job with it, no problems). I will retract my initial opinion of them based on their response to my issue.

First thing I did was measure the runout. I put the motor in a vise and placed a dial indicator on the side of the collet holder (without the collet cap). Rotating by hand, the total runout is .001". This is very good. The collet holder is glued onto the motor shaft. I suspect this is because they tweak the thing until it's true. I'll bet this is why they give you a holder with the motor. You are purchasing a system. I would recommend that you never remove the holder because it'll never go back on straight. Went to install it on my cheapo 3018 and it wouldn't fit. There is a metal band on the motor, presumably so it will fit larger machines. The band simply snaps off, which allowed the motor to fit into the Z-axis bracket just fine. The diameter of the motor, without the band, is 1.65" I read all the reviews about ramping up the motor, but just for fun, I simply turned it on at full speed with the Candle interface. The motor came on without any issues. However, just for good measure, I will put the ramp-up code into the header section of the gcode generator so it's always there for all NC program files. The motor is very loud, but not because it's unbalanced or out of round. It runs at 20K RPM, so I would expect it to be loud. It isn't any louder than my Craftsman wood router. I was hesitant to purchase this motor, but since Amazon has a decent return policy, I decided to risk it. So far, I'm pleased.

Update: upped to 4 stars. The second one that showed up had only a .0015 runout. this is acceptable for the application I am requiring. I would give it a full 5 but of course adhesive on the collet chuck assembly results in complications with repairs, modification ect. Olde Post: Observed the collet chuck tool holder to have excessive runout. I would have corrected this problem but unfortunately the manufacture had chosen to lock the collet chuck to the 5mm motor shaft with an adhesive. I had chosen not to tamper with this and send it back for a replacement in hopes the next one may come with in acceptable specifications. Will update the review once the new one arrives.

100% recommend!!! please know that I have a 2022 3018 pro from rat, the settings in grbl were super easy to change. Please do not be afraid to buy this product it seems a little sketch because of how cheap it is but hands down highly recommend, take a video before you change the spindle of 10% all the way up to 100% of your current spindle and then when you get your new spindle in you will hear the difference majorly. For the people still reading when you look online you don't see anything new from 2023 on reviews for this thing on YouTube the way that they change the settings for grbl is completely different and easier on the new machines so do not be afraid of that if you do have an old machine that's 2021 or older, plenty of videos out there. The spindle that came with mine is perfect for everything except for metal, my old spindle ran at 7500 RPMs and would cut it but you can tell that it was struggling majorly at 20mm/min, when I swapped over to this new spindle and put it at 18,000 RPMs 20mm/min it cut like butter. I have not ran the feed above that so please be cautious and play around before jumping it way up.

I purchased the 20k spindle as a replacement motor for my Genmitsu 4040 Pro, expecting better performance, but the experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Right out of the box, the motor seemed unbalanced. Despite carefully calibrating my setup, the unsteady operation ruined my first project. Even worse, the motor completely failed. Now, I’ve been down for two weeks trying to resolve this issue, and it’s causing significant delays in my workflow. I expected higher quality from these replacement parts, but this motor has proven unreliable and far below standard. Save yourself the frustration and look for other options—this spindle is not worth the time, money, or headache. I’m extremely unhappy with this purchase.

The media could not be loaded. Product info says it isn't noisy. It's extremely noisy. Also was not left at back porch it was left on the front porch.
