  • Far better than shellac based finishes
Pad on, buff and wait 10-15 minutes before recoating. Builds a nice shine and is very durable. I have a pen that I finished over a year ago and use daily - still has a great looking gloss finish. I've used the shellac based finishes and after using this product I'll never go back. Takes a while longer but well worth the wait between coats. Much easier than the CA finishing process which I've never been comfortable with and provides a more natural looking product. I've also used this on small boxes (applied with a foam brush) with great results. ... show more

  • Solid deal
Hit the nail on the head here. Easier, cleaner, safer and just as durable as CA. Shoutout to the supplier Woodworkers Hardware for including a heating pad in the packaging.

  • Updated: Good alternative to CA.
So, I've been turning pens for 13 months. By no means an expert. Here is what I learned from trial and error: 1. WTF works great on stabilized wood, Cocobolo, anything wood where raising the grain is not a issue. 2. Works great when it is close to 100 F in your work space. Intermittent use of a hair dryer helps. 3. Let each coat dry before applying next one. Do not exceed 4 coats in 4hr period or you may get bubbles. 4. 9 to 12 coats will get you to a crystal clear finish. 5. Cure for a few days at above 80 F before final polish. 6. May take a week above 80 F for the slight smell of urethane to go away. 7. Applying on top of dyed unstabilized wood is a test of patience. Can be done. I still prefer WTF over CA even though it takes more steps because the result is more predictable. It's a learning curve. I wish they sold bigger bottles. 1st review: I've been turning pens for about 6months. Everyone Iikes my pens with CA finish. However, my CA finish gets cloudy when the weather is humid. I saw people using WTF on YouTube and decided to give it a try. Since it is water based, humidity is not an issue. I am still working out the bugs. The smell is nominal. No fumes. I would give it 5 stars but have yet to get the crystal clear finish. Once I do, I will revisit and update. It's worth the money and effort. ... show more

  • The Best Pen Finish
I have used this brand of pen finish for a decade. Much easier to apply than CA. Just as durable, if not more so.

  • Good woodturning finish
A friend gave me a bottle of this and after using it I knew he wasn't getting it back. Bought this bottle to replace the one I borrowed. Easy to use, gloss without being glassy.

  • Drys fast , no stinky odor.
I was tired of ca glue finish getting on my fingers and my pen bushings. Found WTF on Amazon so I thought I’d try it. Works fantastic on the lathe. Drys fast with friction. Polishes up beautiful. I did a pen and a bowl with it and will be buying more. No stinky Odor.

  • Easy to use
This finish, when applied as several thin coats, is very easy to use for turning projects. It gives a beautiful clear finish, which can be buffed to a high gloss.

  • Somewhat disappointing.
The end result was not as good as I expected.
