This Generac 3200i (2500-continuous watts) should do the trick the next time power goes out at our home. I wanted to buy a Honda EU2200i because of its quietness and reputation, but at 5500 feet altitude I didn't think its 1800 continuous watts was up to running the gas furnace, the fridge, and a few lights and battery chargers. The Generac was $500 cheaper and nearly 40 percent more powerful. Out of the box, I had to run at half choke for nearly a minute before it started to run normally. Otherwise, subsequent starting is a breeze. It's wonderfully quiet as well; it definitely won't bother us or the neighbors. And I'm glad I got the bigger wattage. I tested it with several combinations of current draw. It will run two circular saws simultaneously, but the engine bogs way down and my in-line watt meter indicated supply reductions of several hundred watts. That's not a problem for making a single cut but it would definitely be bad for the motors long-term. It powers either circular saw or a 1500-watt milk house heater just fine, but add any two in combination and it bogs down and doesn't recover. The best it could do was to run a milkhouse heater on the low setting (1320 watts draw) and a 6-amp drill (630-watt draw) for a total draw of 1950 watts. That's about right, given a 4 percent reduction in engine output per 1000 feet above sea level. The Generac 3500XL I bought 35 years ago ran great until the plastic gas lines rotted out. I could have repaired the gas lines but I worried about how clean the power would be for electronics these days. This new 3300i isn't pure-sine-wave output, but at 3 percent THD, it's close enough. Thus far, it delivers exactly as advertised. My only wish is that it came with the switch to turn the eco mode off. That might help with starting in colder weather. Maybe that won't be a problem, but I won't know until our first winter comes along. ... show more

absolutely perfect little back up generator. it is a little on the heavier side, but fires up first pull every time its needed. super super quiet and takes no time to get it going. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this unit to run some home objects when in need during a power outage or at tailgate. we ran our tv, wifi, refrigerator, a couple box fans and charged devices. this sucker used less than a gallon of gas in about 9 hours of running, ... show more

Just purchased. Set up was fairly easy, although you have to remove the side cover to access the oil fill tube. Not a big deal, only 4 screws involved. I filled with ethanol-free gasoline. The choke dial is easy to use. It started fairly easily - second pull on first start. Subsequent starts required just one pull. The generator is very quiet and fairly portable for a 60 pound box. I have not had to use it yet for a power outage, but I feel confident that it will deliver good performance. ... show more

These generators work fine right out of the box. If you plan on running this generator for maybe an hour or two a month you should be ok. If you plan to use it power anything for a long time. STAY AWAY. It will fail on you. It is not designed to run for a 1000 plus hours. I am on my second one. The first failed at around 1100 hours and the second didn’t last 500 hours. They are literally made to be thrown away. You can’t find parts for them and if you can find parts you can’t get them. Fewer people are servicing these generators. Just stay away. I’ve used this generator four times in my camper and I am very pleased. Last night I filled it up at 6pm I figured I would have to get up in the middle of the night to fill it again. But no. I slept all night woke up at 6am. And the little guy was still humming away outside. To give some context. It got down to 48 degrees here in Virginia last night. So I had the tv on. With the sound bar on the fan in the bathroom on hood range light on small usb fan running and the propane heater set to 70 degrees. I used a toaster oven to make dinner. Had all the lights on for various times. And this generator didn’t blink an eye. And ran for 12 hours straight. So impressed. Worth every penny. Bought this for my son and daughter-in-law who are always losing power. They had to toss all the contents of their refrigerator multiple times. This isn't a giant generator but it will keep them from having to do that again. easy to use, quite and seems like really nice quality.
