  • Delivers just as advertised and very quiet, but don't expect more than 2000 watts at 5000 feet
Style: 3300-Watt Inverter - COsense - 49 ST
This Generac 3200i (2500-continuous watts) should do the trick the next time power goes out at our home. I wanted to buy a Honda EU2200i because of its quietness and reputation, but at 5500 feet altitude I didn't think its 1800 continuous watts was up to running the gas furnace, the fridge, and a few lights and battery chargers. The Generac was $500 cheaper and nearly 40 percent more powerful. Out of the box, I had to run at half choke for nearly a minute before it started to run normally. Otherwise, subsequent starting is a breeze. It's wonderfully quiet as well; it definitely won't bother us or the neighbors. And I'm glad I got the bigger wattage. I tested it with several combinations of current draw. It will run two circular saws simultaneously, but the engine bogs way down and my in-line watt meter indicated supply reductions of several hundred watts. That's not a problem for making a single cut but it would definitely be bad for the motors long-term. It powers either circular saw or a 1500-watt milk house heater just fine, but add any two in combination and it bogs down and doesn't recover. The best it could do was to run a milkhouse heater on the low setting (1320 watts draw) and a 6-amp drill (630-watt draw) for a total draw of 1950 watts. That's about right, given a 4 percent reduction in engine output per 1000 feet above sea level. The Generac 3500XL I bought 35 years ago ran great until the plastic gas lines rotted out. I could have repaired the gas lines but I worried about how clean the power would be for electronics these days. This new 3300i isn't pure-sine-wave output, but at 3 percent THD, it's close enough. Thus far, it delivers exactly as advertised. My only wish is that it came with the switch to turn the eco mode off. That might help with starting in colder weather. Maybe that won't be a problem, but I won't know until our first winter comes along. ... show more

  • Power up
Style: 3300-Watt Inverter - COsense - 49 ST
Just purchased. Set up was fairly easy, although you have to remove the side cover to access the oil fill tube. Not a big deal, only 4 screws involved. I filled with ethanol-free gasoline. The choke dial is easy to use. It started fairly easily - second pull on first start. Subsequent starts required just one pull. The generator is very quiet and fairly portable for a 60 pound box. I have not had to use it yet for a power outage, but I feel confident that it will deliver good performance. ... show more

  • Hope you have better luck
Style: 3800-Watt Inverter - Electric Start + CO...
I got this generator to use with my travel trailer because it has the ability to run the ac power with an adapter. Straight out of box the generator leaked fuel. I couldn’t return via Amazon because oil and fuel had been added; the only way I could make sure it worked prior to camping. Generac customer service is pretty terrible and not much help. Pretty much someone working at their house reading a script. They told me to take it to a local generac service repair shop. I have been waiting almost a month and they haven’t even looked at the generator. I am very disappointed in the way I have been treated with this expensive generator purchase. It does run quiet so once the fuel leak is repaired i am hoping all else is well. ... show more

  • Well worth the money v

I’ve had several generators over the years and this one is a quality product. Starts great even if it sits for a while between uses.

  • Good customer service.
Style: 5200-Watt Inverter - Electric Start + CO...
I just opened the box and looked; the regulator is broken in two pieces. I see another customer had the same problem. I have not taken anything else out of the box yet. The regulator is L shaped and they packed it in the corner. The box looks like it was rough handled, but not super bad. The regulator looks like it is cast aluminum and thin in the place it broke. Called Generac and they had me send photos and serial number and said they would send me a new Regulator. Nice people to work with. Hope they follow through. ... show more

  • Not as easy to start as my previous Gernerac.
Style: 2500-Watt Inverter - COsense - 49 ST
I purchased the lower-output Generac about four years ago. It did everything I wanted it to. My sister-in-law bought a camper trailer with no power except solar, so in a fit of total weakness, I gave her my generator set. I was going along fine without it. Then, one day, my electricity went out, and I could not brew a cup of coffee. As a retired guy, I tend to dwell on things, and I kept thinking if I had my little generator set, I would be drinking coffee. I saved up some points on Amazon and purchased this generator set. This engine on the Gen set likes to start one way and one way only. If you want to pull it to start, and it will run, nope, it's not going to happen. This is a four-stroke engine. You have to take the pull start and pull it out until you feel the compression stroke. Then, let the cord back in for a full pull, and it starts every time. The compression stroke is when you feel resistance at the pull start. ... show more

  • Quiet
Style: 3300-Watt Inverter - COsense - 49 ST
I have a whole house generator by Generac, that comes on automatically when the power goes out. I’ve been very satisfied with its performance. Had it two years now. So when I went looking for a generator for my RV, I looked at everything out there. And decided on this Generac. I must say I’m thoroughly impressed with this small generator. When they say quiet, they really mean it, I’m very impressed. In fact, the air conditioner is louder, much louder. I highly recommend this product. ... show more
