  • Great gadget!
Style: A Size: 1 - pack
I love these chopping gadgets, and I've been through dozens over the years. The problem with them is that if one piece breaks, the entire gadget is unusable and has to be thrown away. I've been using this one for months. I admit I've been careful with it, but I still vouch for its sturdiness. It's well-made and well-designed and all of it goes in the dishwasher with no ill effects. Four stars rather than all five because, although it cuts well, it's not good for actual dicing or "cubing"--it's more of a shredder. I use it on celery and pickles to make chicken salad; I use it to make quick work of onions. It would be excellent for making salsa, for instance, or making hard-boiled eggs into egg salad; but not for cutting vegetables to put into a salad. I'd be afraid to try carrots, or anything firmer than a firm onion, because I'm pretty sure it would break. ... show more

  • I love it--but it's too flimsy
Style: A Size: 1 - pack
I love it--but it's too flimsy... This is my second one. The first one I had to change because the black plastic bottom cover shrank in the dishwasher and no longer fit the bottom container... (do not put in dishwasher). The second one I used for a few months and continue to use it but the black handle on the crank broke off soon after I got it.... and I am a person who does not break things easily because I am careful. I WISH they would make exactly the same thing with just slightly better materials.... For the price sold, this should be obvious... ... show more

  • exactly like this, to relieve me from that tedious
Style: A Size: 1 - pack
Unlike a restaurant that needs mounds of diced onions & bell peppers, etc. for preparing certain dishes, we folks at home may use 1/2 of a large onion & 1 bell pepper for most of our stir-fried or frying-pan dishes. I have been searching for many years, for a simple mechanical onion-dicer, exactly like this, to relieve me from that tedious, eye-burning task. The GEFU 13900 is the perfect HOME-dicer for onions, bell pepper, cucumbers, pickles, hard-boiled eggs, etc. I do not recommended it for hard or stringy things like raw carrots or celery, etc. They need to be sliced, with a knife. But it does a GREAT JOB and is simple to clean! I am extremely happy with it! Note: It is not worth the high prices that the various web-site are asking. Shop on-line and you will see it priced anywhere from $25 to $70. Of course, I bought at the low end. I could have bought an electric food-processer for some of those prices but that is not what I wanted. Though I highly recommended this GEFU, I think it is well-worth, no more than $19.99 + tax. I still love it! I am sure that the price will come way down, when people refuse to buy a cheap product for an expensive price. ... show more

  • It is what it is.
It does just what it says it will - and no more. I got it not to chop pretty pieces, but to speed up making super-multi-"I don't want to stay in the kitchen all day chopping these things"-family salads (not the lettuce). It does tear up the tomatoes and shred the harder items. Does all right on boiled eggs. But be sure to wash immediately. Dried on food is nasty hard getting off. ... show more

  • Great idea for a device, with several important possible features overlooked.
Style: A Size: 1 - pack
I bought this cuber to make salsa and it has so far cut even pieces exactly the size needed in salsa. The only complaints I have is that this cuber is smaller than it should be, and you have to cut the tomatoes and onions into bite size pieces before you can put them into the hopper. Also, the bottom does not have gripping suctions so you have to cut with one hand holding the base and another turning the handle. ... show more

  • The best nut and veggie tool ever !
When I went on line and bought this, I was looking for a nut chopper for almonds. This does the job. While it still leaves an amount of dust with the chunks, it's way better than a food processor or a pound-on-the-plunger type chopper. At first I was a bit uneasy about the force I had to use to to cut up roasted almonds, but soon realized this thing is well built out of durable materials that can easily do the job without breaking. It's not a "Cube Cutter" or a vegetable dicer, but rather more like a relish or salsa maker. Putting pickles in this machine makes pickle relish. Likewise, bell peppers, onions, and hot peppers make a great combination relish for hot dogs, burgers and sandwiches. I've taken to making potfuls of vegetable "relish" which, with garlic added and simmered for a couple hours, turns into the best veggie spaghetti sauce ever. Certainly a bit pricier than other similar gadgets out there, but well worth it for the job it does and the fact that it's so well made that I won't have to buy another one anytime soon. ... show more

  • Arrived damaged, but still usable.
Only 2 stars because the product was received damaged. A corner of the top of the base part where the other part sits was broken off. Packaging standards should be high enough to prevent this kind of damage. The product is still usable so I didn't bother with the hassle of returns but it's always disappointing to spend $40 on something and it be damaged right off the bat. ... show more

  • Plastic container cracked easily when accidently dropped on the floor
Style: A Size: 1 - pack
Plastic container cracked easily when accidently dropped on the floor. Also, black handle on turning crank keeps falling off. I had a similar product previously which had an extremely durable container although it was not a clear plastic as the newer product. Overpriced.
