  • Would be a 5 star if it had enough stakes and included the footprint!
Color: Army Green
Would be a 5 star if it had enough stakes and included the footprint! This tent is truly awesome! It is sturdy and ready for wind and rain when you stake it down completely with the fly top. I went camping with night temps of higher 30s and 40s (You could see your breath outside, easily) and it did just fine. I used a sleeping bag rated 20 degrees F. I didn't even need to wear a hat when sleeping. The tent stakes included are great, very well made and sturdy. They are not like the cheap ones that bend when you push them into the ground and they stay in. Unfortunately there are not enough stakes. The vents don't stay open very well because the fabric part that props them up isn't firm. I think you could fix this by taking pop sticks/craft sticks and just duct taping them on. The main problem I encountered is that there were not enough stakes and "strings" provided to stake out the flytop which is necessary to prevent condensation. The company that makes this tent even states this when answering related questions, so I don't understand why they would not include enough stakes and string to do this. I had brought some extra ones from another tent along and used some of those, but I did not have any extra "strings" so although I could stake out most of it, 3-4 of the flytop points that were halfway up the tent, I could not stake out. Despite that, I did not get any condensation which was super lucky. I do think that for the money, this tent should include enough stakes and a couple extra AND the footprint. I had to buy the footprint separately. ... show more

  • I've taken it everywhere and I love it
Color: Yellow
I go to a lot of festivals in various spans of weather. In this tent, I've been everywhere from the desert in 110+ degree weather to temperate rainstorms in 50-80 degree summer weather to freezing mountaintops with temperatures dropping to 15 degrees, and this tent has loyally held through it all. Sure, you need to bring different sleeping equipment, but this tent is really practical for it all if you're ready for the elements. I've gotten a good year plus use out of it so far, and haven't had any breakages or significant wear despite regular use. The zippers, wall material, and stakes all work great. For harsher conditions, you may want more heavy duty stakes, but for more typical weather the included ones work fine. The rain fly does a great job of keeping you dry. The size is good on the inside. I fit my cot and my gear inside very comfortably - you could easily squeeze two people inside if you wanted, though it'd be cozy if you weren't curled up with the second person! When packed it also fits into a pretty small form factor, which is nice since my car is usually packed full of other equipment. Overall I can wholeheartedly recommend this tent for almost all purposes! It's been a great value and I'm expecting to get plenty more use out of it. This one is a winner! ... show more

  • Not a 4 season tent - but otherwise good
Color: Yellow
We've taken this tent on two different trips so far and had to stay in a hotel on the second because it is not in fact a four season tent. The first trip was a week long fishing trip to Florida and the tent worked very well for us. Although it says it is a four person, I'd recommend a max of 2 people if you want to have any amount of gear or personal belongings in the tent with you. Beyond that it will get crowded. Set up was easy, as was taking it down. We kept the rain fly on and it worked well when we had a pop up storm. It protected us from the wind and sun - we were happy with it and planned on taking the tent on future trips. Our second time with it we went to Colorado for 10 days to hunt elk. We had several places we planned on scouting and were going to move the tent for our base camp every 2 or three nights as we needed to. Temperatures ranged from 80+ during the day to 20 or lower at night and for the first few days we did fine - moved the tent as much as we needed to and stayed dry (we slept without the rainfly on because there was no precipitation). Four nights in we knew we were going to get snow so we set up the tent, attached the rain fly, and staked everything down well. 3 - 4 inches into the snowfall, we started to notice the tent shifting and the poles literally trying to lay down sideways. From what we could tell, the weight of the steadily falling snow was twisting the frame of the tent and making it spiral instead of holding its dome shape. We continuously hit the inside of the tent walls to knock snow off but that did not help. We used every guy line we had and then some to attach the rain fly to trees and more stakes to try and keep its shape. That didn't help so we had to go outside every few hours and shovel all of the snow away from the base of the tent and even then, the poles still shifted which made it appear as if it was collapsing on you from the inside. At this point, we were literally stuck on a mountain with no way to get down because the roads were impassible and we were having to continuously shovel snow off of our "4 Season" tent which we were depending on to provide shelter for us After the storm was over and we could safely drive, we left our tent on the side of the mountain and went to a hotel. By the end of it, one of the seams on the snow flap completely tore and the metal frame poles literally bent and curved. I will say we received a considerable amount of snow but these problems started when we had 3 - 4 inches of snow - that to me is low stress for a 4 season tent especially considering we were in a valley completely protected from the wind so the only stressor on the tent was steadily falling snow. The condensation with the rainfly on was also incredible - our sleeping bags and quilts were soaked with water from inside the tent, our pillows actually froze to the walls of the tent from the temperatures outside and the amount of condensation dripping down on them. I would NOT recommend anyone use this tent in the event there is snowfall of any amount. This is not gear you can depend on for 4 seasons - period. If we weren't outside of the return window and if there were any kind of warranty on this, I would be sending it back in a heartbeat and investing our money elsewhere on an actual four season tent. ... show more
