TLDR: Good tools, janky packaging. There might be black marks on your handles from them flopping around, but these wipe off. The joints on the cutter/pliers are tight, we'll see how they hold up over time, but my other GW tools have done well over years. The channel locks have some play, but just enough to make selecting and using a channel reasonably easy. The jaws are solid. Personally I'm a fan of the simpler dipped/coated style covering versus the plastic/rubber bimaterial handles. YMMV there, but these have tended to be easier to clean. That said, the packaging from GW sometimes sucks. Bad. This is one of those cases. Not a single tool was actually sitting in its packaged spot, and all the handles had black marks from flopping around. Thankfully nothing metal was trashed or rusting (the tools had an oil coating which is great), and all the marks really just wiped off. They're tools yes, but if you're paying 100$+ for a set, you'd expect better packaging than something from HorrorFreight :) Just some simple zip ties would fix it. ... show more

These seem like solid quality tools. I am fairly happy with gear wrench. I have hundreds of their tools if you count socket sets etc and work very well for the self proclaimed mechanic that I call myself. Easy to use, have a good grip that is comfortable to grab for a while, and it’s orange. Plus it has a good price tag so why not. ... show more

The writing comes off just by wiping it with a rag, no it doesn't affect the performance, but I've owned these for less than a month and two of the pair are almost unlegible. Will not buy again

    • A crescent copy but just as good.

I said in the title a crescent copy and meant it. The only difference is the brand name. The crescent brand has z pliers and the same in dipped handles. But these are gearwrench brand pliers. They work just as good as the crescent pliers and bare the same lifetime warranty on them. I look at the crescent and these pliers and they look the same as the gearwrench pliers only the handles are a different color. They have the same k-9 Jaws as the crescent tongue and groove pliers and the same arrows as on the linesman, diagonal and long nose pliers. They function the same and grip good as well. They are good for hvacr, maintenance personnel, electricians, mechanics and handyman. I concur if you have these pliers or the crescent version that they are very good pliers. If you need these pliers get them if add them to your collection for when you need them. ... show more
