Remember, with tools, like most things in life you get what you paid for and sometimes you get lucky by buying smart. I read all the reviews with the luke warm praise of Irwin tools and guys you are not buying Snap On so let us not compare a $ 79.00 per set tool maker to a $79.00 per tool from a precision tool supplier. For the Average Joe/Jane these Irwin tools are great, for me the oversized grip is bulky but for my wife, it is the first time she has actually put a wrench on nut and turned it until it was loose, imagine the look on her face- now she thinks she is Tim " the Tool man" Taylor. Since then she has fixed a door knob and tried to reseat the garbage disposal. That one crank changed her confidence in herself. The irwin set is better than anything you can buy for the price especially with a soft grip.and variety. As for the 3 different size grove lock well you and I may have the hand size to accommodate a 1.5 inch nut on a 10inch wrench but a women with small hands may need that 12 inch wrench to torque that nut. Irwin's sure grip tooth pattern means she will get the torque if she has the right tool. And with this Irwin 8 piece grove lock the right tool is at your side. For a utility set this is an excellent purchase. Everyone needs a good set of linesman pliers, needle nose, wiresnipes, and adjustibles as a base to any project-this set surpasses the store brands in quality and durability and comes with a lifetime warranty. It is not SNAP ON, MAC, PERCISSION or MAACO or GRIZZLY but If you are a professional and your are doing professional work, making professional money -do what real professional do -Go get yourself a set of professional tools. Otherwise lets compare apples to apples I use these on my cars, truck, boats and home and would recommend them without hesitation. I own the 8 piece set 7 piece set and the ergonomic pliers- good quality.I believe in the right tool for the right job and at this price its affordable.

If the tool complement matches what you need, this is a great set. Don't buy cheapo hand tools if you can avoid it. These are pretty good quality of a mid-range brand that should last you a good amount of time.

Update 3/3/18 - set of tools I go to every time. I have many pliers and such, theses are comfortable to use and made strong. I bought this set for the slip joint pliers that have a unique adjustment where you can put jaws on the nut and then adjust the width to match the nut. The set has 3 of those with all 3 very handy and working perfectly. The metal of these tools is properly heat treated and very hard on the surface as it suppose to be. When I grip a steel pipe, pliers will cut into pipe surface to hold it tight. Many cheap tools will destroy their inner jaw grooves very quickly because they are not properly hardened, but not these Vise-Grip set. Chinese import or not is not the main characteristic of tools anymore. You can get good quality if the tool is made right and these are definetely well made. Nearly identical slip joint pliers from other manufacturers, I recall seeing British or German made, cost $50-$70 each where this whole set was somewhere in-between and it includes 3 of those slip joint pliers. These are not made, like toys, with every surface polished for the perfect look, but they are well made where it counts with all parts working perfectly as is. I give 5 stars because you cannot get a better set for this price and there is no tool at any price that will work any better.
