great tool.... but the pin in the locking collars are under subpar. have broken the 12in 3 times and the 6in 2 times. Im a professonal mechanic and use these every day. i had a sunnex branded set for years and finally broke the 6in extension. they dont make them any longer so picked this set up as a replacement. Gearwrench has been great and warrantied them out every time it breaks. i just wish i didnt have to rely on the warranty this often. overall for the money its hard to beat this set, and if you arent using them everyday im sure they would last even better. but dont fear if you do break them gearwrench will send a replacement to your front door ... show more

I purchased these extensions for use in an automotive repair environment. For several months they worked well, I especially liked locking my spark plug socket onto the extension because I could pull the socket out/off the plug and not get the socket stuck in the hole However, one day performing a tune-up and changing plugs I pulled the plug out and the locking mechanism on the extension broke. The pin for the locking extension fell down into the cylinder head and rested on top of the cylinder. If your a mechanic, you know what a problem this is. Fortunately, I was able to fish the pin out when a magnet and not ruin someone's engine but, If you use these extension in this way, make sure you check your tool for issues before performing a task like this. I LOVE GEARWRENCH!! Great priced product and very durable. I have taken these tools to the max and tried to push the limits of them and have yet to meet the limits of this companies products. The fit into the drive is snug and the locking mechanism works great!

The lock worked and held the sockets in place. I used this to remove the spark plugs out of a hybrid. Unfortunately, the plastic cover that goes around the lock mechanism moved and allowed the pin to come out of the 6" extension and falling into the engine cylinder. Upon completing what I needed to do I went to start the engine and heard a rattle/ knocking noise. I turned the engine off, went to remove the spark plugs, and found the pin to the extension sitting on top of the piston. The cylinder head, valves, and piston are now damaged and have to be replaced. Haven't used the 12" extension much and the pin just came out on this one as well.
