Description

The GEARWRENCH ratcheting combination wrenches are the original patented ratcheting wrench! The ratcheting box end is designed to need as little as 5° to move fasteners versus 30° for standard wrenches. The wrenches are made from strong alloy steel with a bright, full polish chrome finish. The ratcheting box end features off-corner loading for a better grip on the fastener and reduces fastener rounding. They’re available in various lengths and styles, including: XL length, stubby, flex, stubby flex, and locking flex. • Your old wrench....evolved.
Size: 13 Pc Style: With Wrench Rack Pattern Name: SAE
Wow, these are great wrenches. I was given a smaller set of the non-flex head version of these wrenches several years ago as a gift and used them so much I decided to get the flex-head version. The ratcheting heads are amazing and then you add in a flex head and it takes things to a whole new level. If you don't have ratcheting wrenches in your tool collection, you seriously need to get some. I'll reach for one of these wrenches before I reach for a ratchet and socket. And then there's the flex head which allows you to get to fasteners in odd places. These are worth their wight in gold. Admittedly, the ratcheting head does make the end a little fatter than a normal closed-end wrench and this can prevent it from fitting on nuts and bolts in really tight spaces--but for all other scenarios, these work beautifully. If you're one of those types that like to keep tools in their original cases when you put them in your tool box, these come with a nice plastic holder that does a good job of holding everything together. There are slight "ridges" on one side of the wrench to help you feel if the wrench is tightening or loosening is just a marketing gimmick (at least in its current design). Yeah, they're there, but if you have gloves on you're not going to be able to feel them. And if you're like me, even if you could feel them, you're always going to give the wrench a quick turn to find out if it's tightening or loosening.....and you'll always have it backwards and have to flip it over! I'll admit, Gearwrench has turned me into a big fan. The more I use their tools, the more I love them. I've never had a Gearwrench product that has failed me. I've had these wrenches for about 4 years and they've never missed a beat. These flex-head, ratcheting ones are expensive (compared to some) and cheap (compared to others) so you'll have to decide what you feel comfortable spending, but I'm very happy with my purchase. If you're on the fence about buying these, let me knock you off. These are great, you shouldn't hesitate to get a set. ... show more

What a great set of spanners as a gift! These where given as a present to a young man starting a life as an apprentice Mechanical fitter. Spanners have been used many times already. Who would have thought traditional ring and open end spanners spanners would become redundant with new technologies. I can remember buying a top quality set of spanners 34 years ago and being told by the master they will last your whole life! This is still true but I may never need them as the GearWrench set is so superior to any ring or open end spanner combination. These spanners allow restrictive access bolts and nuts buried in a maze of components to be easily removed where a socket is to wide to gain access. The fine spline ratchet allows the smallest movement arc to get at the difficult fasterner and apply full pressure. Would be good if a unique serial number was emobossed on them and numbers stored in a master data register so if they get pinched we get an opportunity to deal that issue. ... show more

  • Great ratchet wrench set!

Great set of wrenches, no little button to break off to reverse them , just flip them upside down, more sizesband 1/4 the price of tool trucks!

  • A LOT of reasonable quality wrenches for reasonable money
Size: 13 Pc Style: With Wrench Rack Pattern Name: SAE
I specifically purchased the non reversible package of SAE and metric Gearwrenches. I find them more usable than reversible with levers. They are good quality, easy to use and seemingly durable. Guarantee is attractive but God knows how you would ACTUALLY get a replacement/free repair. The only thing I dont like is the very flimsy plastic carrier. It will wear out quickly and you will have a drawer full of assorted wrenches in disarray. If they make a decent metal case... or magnetic and metal I am in 100%. In general.. I am very satisfied with my purchase. ... show more

  • Great For Tight Spaces
I purchased these so I would have the flex head ratcheting ability for tight spaces and very happy I did. The flex-head ratcheting end has made it so easy to insert or remove Atwood 91857 Drain Plugs. I no longer worry about catching the propane line . The 7/8 and 15/16 both do a good job on the water heater plugs. No more slipping channel locks or pliers at awkward angles to reach the drain plug .This was my main reason for ordering the set. The wrenches are hefty and well made. I am sure other situations will arise where I will be happy I have the various sizes. ... show more

  • Excellent wrenches, slightly loose heads but great tools.
Size: 13 Pc Style: With Wrench Rack Pattern Name: SAE
Bought a metric and SAE set. Great wrenches. The only negative is the heads should be a little stiffer, sometimes head of larger wrenches flops over due to weight.

  • These are some pretty nice wrenches
These are some pretty nice wrenches. The finish is very nice, and the wrenches are very solid, even the box+flex end. I've been using these for over a year now, and never felt like I was about to bend or break one. The only things stopping these from totally replacing a standard set of combo wrenches, is that the flex+box end is slightly bigger, and every once in a while, I need to get at a fastener in a very tight spot. Also, I'd probably think twice about getting at these with a hammer on a stuck fastener. These are my go-to wrenches, because the flex gets into many awkward spots, and the ratchet is just so handy. ... show more

  • No one likes a floppy tool
Size: 13 Pc Style: With Wrench Rack Pattern Name: SAE
Set is nice because of the size range. However after lightly using a few of them the heads became SUPER floppy, to the point it is just annoying and makes the wrench almost useless when working in a tight spot. Yes there are screws you can take out to remove the head and bend the washer a little bit to tighten them up but IF you can get the tiny screw out on the smaller sizes without stripping the head, the wrench only stays tight for the first couple of uses after adjusting. I had a kobalt set of flex head ratcheting wrenches for several years and used them pretty abusively and never had this issue, at least if you just snugged the screw back up the head stayed tight way longer than these gearwrenches do. Hopefully gearwrench will fix this issue cause theyd be 5 star if the heads didnt get so floppy so easily. ... show more
