Description

The GEARWRENCH combination ratcheting wrenches feature a 5-degree ratcheting arc vs. 30-degree on a standard combination wrench increasing productivity. The wrenches feature off-corner loading for better grip and reduced fastener rounding. The wrenches have a sleek head design allowing access to tight spots where a ratchet would not fit. The flexible head allows greater access to the most hard-to-reach fasteners. Adjustable set screw allows you to set desired head tension with spring washer design providing continuous head tension. From the Manufacturer The Flex Head tilts 180 degrees at any interval with continuous head tension so you can reach the tightest places. Flex head is built with spring washers that will keep the head tight even after years of use. The patented GearWrench Ratcheting Wrench needs as little as 5 degrees of movement to turn a fastener. SurfaceDrive box end virtually eliminates the rounding of fasteners. Lifetime Manufacturer's Warranty. Contains: 8mm, 9mm, 10mm, 11mm, 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm wrenches.

  • How did I get along without these?
Size: 16 Pc Style: With Wrench Rack Pattern Name: Metric
Wow. What a great set of wrenches. I was given a smaller set of the non-flex head version of these wrenches several years ago as a gift and have used them so much, I decided to buy this larger, flex-head version. These things really let you get into tight spaces (can you say 4th Gen 4runner upper rear shock mount?) that sockets won't go and get bolts/nuts off fast without having to constantly reposition the wrench. I find myself using these wrenches more and more in places where I normally would have used a ratchet and socket. They are very strong, I've used them to remove and tighten things where I've really had to put some torque the fastener and they've held up well. At first I was concerned about the flex part being the weak link and breaking or spreading, but I haven't had any issues. The only problem I had was using the 19mm once when loosening a lug-nut (I was too lazy to get out my impact gun) and the ratcheting mechanism got "confused" and wouldn't ratchet, but a quick smack on concrete floor fixed it. It got the lug nut off and I haven't had any more problems. I know I've used some of the smaller size wrenches to torque things waaaay more than they should be, and wrenches haven't missed a beat. You do have to be a little careful when applying a lot of force to tighten/free a fastener to make sure that the head doesn't flex on you when you don't want it to or you may end up busting a knuckle (but hey, it hasn't been a productive weekend of wrench turning unless you have at least one bloody knuckle). There is a allen screw that serves as the flex pin that you can adjust to loosen/tighten the flex so you set it to what's comfortable for you. The "ridges" on one side of the wrench to help you feel if the wrench is tightening or loosening is just a marketing gimmick (at least in its current design). Yeah, they're there, but if you have gloves on you're not going to be able to feel them. And if you're like me, even if you could feel them, you're always going to give the wrench a quick turn to find out if it's tightening or loosening.....and you'll always have it backwards and have to flip it over! The plastic holder it comes in is nice and does a decent job of keeping the wrenches organized in your tool box, but I bought another wrench tray that stacks the wrenches a little closer together and doesn't "grip" on them to make getting them out just a little bit easier. So far, I'm very impressed with these wrenches. Seriously, if you don't own a set, buy some, they're that good, especially the flex head version. If you're on the fence, buy a smaller set and see how you like them and I have no doubt you'll be buying the larger sets in both SAE and Metric just like I did! ... show more

  • Good Set, Very Thick and Sturdy
Size: 16 Pc Style: With Wrench Rack Pattern Name: Metric
I've owned a few GearWrench tools in the past, and have found them to always be a reliable and well built brand that have never broken on me. I'm pleased to say that this set has continued that fine tradition. I've used these to wrench on a few engines since buying them, and they've never bound up when applying some good torque to them (unlike Craftsman and Kobalt versions I've owned). The wrenches have a solid heft to them, and don't flex under strain. The tools are clearly marked with an arrow indicating rotation direction for quick reference use. The rachet heads aren't loose and floppy like some other manufacturer's, letting you set your tilt once and get to work, rather than fighting the tool to keep it aligned and engaged on a hard to reach nut. I had one that arrived loose, but it was easily corrected by turning the hex nut on the side and stiffened right up. The one drawback from this set is that it wasn't really designed with toolchests in mind. Firstly there's the tray. I own a large Craftsman box, but the length (front to back) of the tray with the built in handle made it too long to fit in a drawer. I ultimately had to ditch it and buy another set that would fit the drawer. The other problem is that the bulk of the wrenches on the tray means that this needs a slightly larger drawer in terms of depth than other wrench sets. The smaller wrenches do fine, but the bigger ones if they're on any sort of tray may be too tall for the roughly 2" deep drawers on some chests. ... show more

  • Best full set for the non-professional
Size: 16 Pc Style: With Wrench Rack Pattern Name: Metric
These are now my default tool for nuts and bolts. Easier to grab for one of these than a socket and socket wrench. The only time I wouldn't use these is if I *only* had vertical access. The ratcheting works perfectly on the ones I've put torque to. I like that the flex-heads stiffness is adjustable. They came rather stiff and I haven't adjusted them at all. A set of Craftsman I used to have [before they grew feet] were loose and once in a while would fall off the target during ratcheting. Not these. The one thing I didn't like about the set was the plastic carrier they came in. Mine came with a few of the holders bent, which lead to wrenches falling out during transportation. After extensive research I fould an adequate tool/wrench wrap that holds this Entire set. Bucket Boss 70004. Rolls up smaller than, takes up less room than the plastic carrier. Between the warranty, function and feel of these I confidently expect these to last my lifetime. Unless they, too, grow feet. ... show more

  • These wrenches are great!
Size: 12 Pc Style: With Wrench Rack Pattern Name: Metric
Having a project car I find myself always wanting certain styles of tools. I have some bolts on my Jeep that are in spots too tight for a socket wrench, so these become very handy for those tighter areas. The ratcheting works great and I find it hilarious that people are complaining about there being no switch. If you're wrenching in a spot where your hand can get in there and flip a switch, then you should be using a socket wrench, These are clearly made for tight squeezes and if you need to switch the direction of the ratchet, just flip the wrench and continue on. If you are looking for a set of wrenches, I say look no further than these. They aren't Klein or MAC or Craftsman quality, but they are still pretty damn good for the price. ... show more

  • Good wrenches
Size: 16 Pc Style: With Wrench Rack Pattern Name: Metric
Have had this set of wrenches for a few years now and they’re still good wrenches and I use them all the time. The rack that came with them is not that great, I bought a roll up pouch and that’s what I store them in.
