Many of my outlets have the sockets in upside down. I'm told that's intentional to let you know which ones are activated wall switches. I haven't tested that out but it meant that wall hugger extensions went in cord up and came loose from the weight of the cord. If I put it in the bottom socket the cord obstructed the second socket. This has resolved the problem for me.
