Took way too long to put together due to the fact that half of the labels for the parts were either missing or fallen off. Manual is available but no point in being available when it's hard to read. Furniture is flimsy and the wood is cheap. Had a handful of screw holes where the screws just kept spinning. What should other customers know? Item comes in 2 boxes and 284 pieces. So the seller really needs to fix the description that currently says "some assembly required" because that is not accurate. Took me over 5 hours from unboxing and identifying all pieces to complete. 😵💫 Some pieces were missing predrilled holes. For example, all the hinges required 6 screws each but only 4 holes were drilled. 🤷🏽♀️ Once completed, it holds a 6 inch mattress with a little extra space. Might hold an 8 inch but could be tight. Unlocking (pulling the spring pin) the cabinet door can be awkward with 1 person. Works better when both spring pins are pulled at the same time which requires 2 people...or 1 person with extremely long reach! Once cabinet door is open and flat on floor, I would highly recommend NOT stepping/walking on it. It is not a flat single piece of wood that lays flat. It's a bunch of framed panels. They're also recessed so if you step on a panel, you run the risk of cracking or breaking it. I say this because you may naturally want to step on it when you pull out the mattress. The design of the desk portion would work better if the rotating pin was placed closer to the edge of the desk. The current design requires you to pull the cabinet away from the wall before you can rotate the desk to the other side. It extends over the back of the cabinet when you rotate it, causing it to hit the wall. Otherwise, it looks nice once it's all put together and looks more like office furniture if thats what you're trying to achieve. Something like a desk attached to a lateral file cabinet. Do Not Purchase. If I could go back and not purchase this, I would. The concept is great, but the reality isn't. Building - Very difficult and time consuming. Murphy beds typically are used in small spaces, you need a huge space to build this because there are so many pieces that you need to sort through and organize. Many spots did not have a hole to place the screw, and the boards cracked in multiple places while trying to tighten. There were no holes at all on the shelf area, so the parts for that are just sitting in the way. Usage - The desk area: not flat. if you spill something, it will get under the raised panel and be impossible to clean. My kids tried to use it for homework, but it's impossible with the different levels. We purchased a thick clear plastic sheet to put on top, and that has helped, but it shouldn't have been necessary. The bed: The very first time we tried to open it, after installing the mattress, one of the knobs w/the spring that hold the door of the bed section up broke off. We cannot open it. With the mattress, and plastic cover, I spent over $500 on this, and it is now just a huge waste of space. I'll eventually get around to taking it apart and trashing it, but I'm still so upset. ... show more
