I like this gate latch because it is more attractive. Easy to install and worked well. I have only one observation. If you want both sides to work the gate thickness needs to be 3". The connecting shaft is set at that. I wish they could make it in a way the you can cut it to fit thickness less then 3".

This seems like a nice and high quality gate "knob." However, there are some glaring design flaws! I bought the "round left." Select that one, then go to the fourth picture in the listing. Look at what's labeled "2 - Scene inside door." Notice that the latch would need to lift to an almost entirely vertical state in order to clear the wood wall, in order for the door to be pushed open. Instead, the latch lifts only enough to clear the lip on the catch. Meaning...whichever configuration you buy, you'll need to do some manipulating and using it in a very different configuration than the two that they show. You'll also notice in the pictures provided by reviewers that they've had to install this in weird ways that don't match with the manufacturer's supplied pictures/instructions/recommended configuration. On top of that, have fun making your own diagram for the 1/2" cut that you'll need to make through your gate for the spindle, because you definitely won't get one in the box. Updated: I came back and gave this an extra star. While it sucks that it can't really be used quite as described or shown, and you'll most likely have to figure out an alternative way of installing in order to use this, once installed, it really is nice - it's a strong latch and knob made of quality materials, and definitely does work.

This latch is made of a decent thickness metal. The components are also of good quality. It provides a handle on both sides of the gate making in good functionally. In my case, I still need to add a piece of wood to my gate to make it thick enough to use with this hardware. The hardware is somewhat flexible in the way it is mounted, however, my gate design will require another piece of wood, similar to the other customer video showing a 2x4 that the latch mounts to. Over all it looks great and I am looking forward to replacing the original cheap and low quality latch it currently uses.

I wanted to get this installed before I reviewed, but I think I should go ahead and get a review up sooner. This is a nice gate handle. It feels heavy, substantial and smooth, a step up from average big-box store gate latches. It feels like a very special handle for a very special gate to a very special place, and suddenly I feel like the gate I had planned needs to be nicer to justify this fancy handle! It looks like it's going to be very easy to install, it moves smoothly, the workmanship is good, and it looks like it should hold up for many years.

I've never installed a gate latch before and wanted to give this a chance. I really needed to replace a old wobbly door knob. Our super tall garage pass through gate/door was built to adapt a short gate when we converted our carport to a garage. We get super strong summer wind storms. I needed a stronger way to keep our gate latched. This is a great affordable gate latch that comes with everything you need to install. I think if I had a normal gate this install would be easy but unfortunately my gate situation is proving to be very difficult for me. I'm having to make more modification to the frame to be able to fit the latch plate and "bolt" (I don't know what to call the flat piece of metal). So I recommend the product based on quality and appearance. I like the dark brown metal as it give the hardware a high end look. But I have not been able to complete this project as between the intense heat (110 today!) and my physical limitations I will have to work on this project bit by bit. But I give the gate latch a big thumbs up!
