The last Gasland heater worked great until we let it freeze and broke the heat exchanger. The new purchase did not work, but the return was easy and the second unit works like a charm. This is a small offgrid campsite with an RV water pump running an outdoor shower. If one can get clean, one can be cool! The water flow control goes from almost zero to higher than the pump can push. This allows one to dial in the water flow so that the pump does not cycle. Water heating can be much hotter that one can comfortably stand. Great water heater. Just remove it in the winter to a heated area.

The way this company designed the battery holder is so poor that one cannot get them out with their hands (like I could with my last heater) and I had to completely unscrew the whole casing to remove and replace them. Then, the element still wouldnt ignite yet power was still there, so something is faulty inside the heater. I contacted customer service but they are 100% worthless in offering help, and seemingly didnt know anything about the actual product. They wont send out a technician to help and want me to completely dismantle my whole set up to figure out if the inside wiring is faulty, which is a huge time and labor suck for me. Had they designed it to be able to remove the front plate from the sides or front this would be no issue, but they didnt. They wont issue me a replacement or refund because I went through Amazon. In addition to all of this, when it was "working" my shower and faucets couldn't hold temp, they were either freezing or scalding (unlike the last heater I had). Dont waste your money or time on this worthless product or company and if you do, buy direct, or get stuck taking sink baths from heating water over the stove to survive. Thanks Gasland. Great job. UPDATE: After reading this review the company went out of their way to contact me apologetically and offer a full refund. I was pleasantly surprised, and accepted such offer. Then, radio silence. 5 days went by and I said again that I would like the full refund....nothing. The next day I said that I am waiting for the refund so I can buy a new one so I can take a f*****g shower....nothing. The next day I reported their misleading email to Amazon in 2 different ways, and told them....nothing still. Amazon felt bad for me and gave me a $10 credit, which was nice, though still $200 short of what I need. I dont understand how these morons get off stringing people along like this while offering nothing valuable in terms of resolution. This company thoroughly fails on all levels, and I sincerely hope Amazon bans you from stealing peoples money like this.

Edit: I wanted to formally apologize for my first review. Apparently, a small connector piece fell out of the box when I was unpacking it. This is completely on me! I found it a few weeks after I made the below review. I really love this shower! After I figured out how to use everything, it’s fantastic. It’s a great value for the price I paid. Can’t wait to use it again! —— Bought this around a month ago and have not been able to use it. The water inlet line on the tank is some strange size that is not a fitting for any regular garden hose. I can’t find anything at a big box store that will fit it. I’m not a plumber or an expert at DIY. I’m not sure what others are doing, but reading the reviews, apparently I’m not the only person to express this concern. If anyone knows the solution - please let us know!

The media could not be loaded. Edit: After contacting customer service regarding the issue they were more than happy to solve the problem. After a little trouble shooting they sent me a new unit and I couldn't be happier! Customer service is excellent and responsive. This company is based out of USA in Charleston SC! Thank you GasLand for helping me! I will continue to be a customer in the future! I really hate it when products break right after the warranty expires. It makes me feel like I’ve been setup. Like, somehow they design the product to literally break after the warranty expires. One day past warranty and thick black smoke is coming out of the top vent. Something is obviously wrong with the unit, which has worked perfectly up until now. I have been extremely pleased with the water heater. It has done very well until today. We haven’t really used it much. We only come up to the mountains a few weeks a year so all in all it has been used for less than 50 showers. I feel like it should not be smoking after so little usage. I have contacted their customer support team. I will see how good they are. If they honor their product I will write a new review.

So far I really love it. I had a Camplux version of this and it never worked correctly. This one starts quickly, stays lit, and heats up quickly. The digital temperature readout really helps to keep from unknowingly overheating the water and scalding yourself. For $20 more than the Camplux, this thing is amazing. I'm sure the handle helps is you want to carry it around but I have mine mounted to the back door of my van. Therein lies the only improvement I could recommend. The unit can be hang mounted using the five holes in the back plate made for this purpose. The front panel is easily removable, but the back plate--with the holes--is not. So to drill and mount it you have to measure very accurately to match the holes in the back plate. Would be really nice if a simple paper template with the five mounting holes was provided, so you could just trace those holes onto whatever you're mounting the unit.
