Bought this item as a standby unit in November of last year. Have had wonderful usage of another unit from this company for over 5 years of daily use (X4) with no glitches. "D" batteries last almost 2 years! Old unit got damaged, so had to use this new one. Had a small glitch that GASLAND was quick to respond to! They stand behind their product!! Kudo's to them! We like this product very, very much. We have a cottage on a northern lake and whether we use lake water or the well, the water is rarely above 70°F or about 21°C. It is also a nearly off-grid cottage and can be off-grid several times a year due to storms. Thus, the ability to use it with a regular propane tank is terrific. We have consistently hot water around 42°C (as shown on the indicator, which is an asset) or about 108°F. The temperature is easy to adjust as is the flow. As you can see from the set-up, we've used a bicycle hanger to hold the unit while in use. This keeps it clear from the side of the boathouse and the roof. The exhaust is surprisingly cool. The fittings were easy to attach and we've had no trouble using Gardena quick connects with it. All of the necessary adapters were in the box and 2 wrenches were included. These are a good thing because you definitely never want to over-tighten. The regulator always works and the starting sequence is easy enough. Just remember to follow the directions and listen for the click of the sparker unit. We have had one set of Energizer D-Cells last for 2 full seasons and I've used a AA-cell replacement adapter with no alteration in function. I use a 5 micron water filter (unseen) between the pump and the water heater. The unit is easy to drain and the handy drain plug is a nice touch. Now we can rinse off with virtually limitless hot water. We could not be happier. 5 stars all around. Highly recommend.

The product worked great for about three weeks... Then I saw that a freeze was coming to my area, I pulled the freeze plug, disconnected the water supply and then turned the shower handset to full "on"to ensure complete drainage. Two days later when things warmed up I reattached the last water supply, put the drain plug back in then turned the handset to off . When I turned the water on it started blowing out of the sides from the heating coils as though I'd not taken any precautions at all . I'm not impressed with the freeze protection design at all . Two units in two years, and I made every conceivable effort to avoid freezing the unit, short of storing it inside of a heated space. $185.00 including the state tax wasted. ...... Update . I was contacted by the seller shortly after posting my review. In their reply they included a notification that was supposedly sent to me, dated at or near the time that I made my LAST purchase from this seller. It basically went over all of the precautions that I'd related I had taken in my original review, adding that it should be stored in a heated environment in the event of a freeze. Not only did I not receive this notification from the seller on the date they've indicated it was sent... Choosing to parrot my review and then adding that their protocols to avoid the unit suffering from freezing included storing it in a warm environment, after the fact.... Which is exactly what I wrote is the only thing that I hadn't done to protect the unit in my original review... Tells me that this seller should be avoided by Amazon customers. To the seller ... You'd have done yourselves a favor by simply not responding .

This hot water heater has changed our lives. We use it for showers, washing dishes, and hot water for our washing machine. It keeps up with the flow from our sur-Flo pump and does it economically to boot
