I have been using smartphones for quite awhile now but decided to purchase this unit since my motorcycle was wired for this unit by the previous owner. A little on the expensive side but much cheaper than the BMW unit that that motorcycle also had the mount for. Connectivity is good unless you also wear an iWatch. Sometimes the Bluetooth worked but things got flaky so now I just turn off watch or switch it to cellular. No problems when connected to my iPhone and Cardo headset. ... show more

I ride motorcycles. Sometimes I ride them off-road…. Trails… single track… cross country… sometimes even across countries… and decided it was time to go digital and get a GPS device that works in remote places that has no cellular service etc. I paired it with my Garmin InReach2 for the “just in case” factor (ie if I end up needing help). But I uploaded every map Garmin sells… even some I bought from other vendors… but maybe it’s just me and I don’t know how to work it…. But I couldn’t get the Xumo XT to find off-road trails or to make a route with off road trails… I notices that Garmin sells a “Baja” edition and an “overlander” edition but they have 10” screens and are probably phenomenal if you’re in a 4-wheeled vehicle but that’s too big for my comfort on a motorcycle… I know some guys do it; they use a tower and the whole deal…. But to me, that’s not the same as being an “instrument rated” pilot… it’s irresponsible if you’re not looking at the trail/road/other riders or whatnot on your route. So maybe I’ll learn how to use the “Tread” to my satisfaction but the Xumo XT is probably great for Motorcyclists who NEVER want to go off road. But they have these things called cell phones that can navigate paved streets and (shrug) after buying all the mounting and wiring kit stuff for this this in basically just wasted about $1000…. ... show more

What did we use this product for? Why keep asking this question? It’s a GPS. An exact duplicate of one I use but for my wife. It shows current speed, Rest Stops, refueling stops along the route, distances to next towns, exits to destinations etc. It’s the very best!
