  • So far I'm loving most of it, but there are a few issues.
Color: Black Size: Small/Medium
This is tracker #4 for me. I have tiny wrists which meant I ordered a device and had to ship it back if it was too large or uncomfortable. I tried the Vivosmart HR which I liked but it didn't fit my wrist so I hoped this one would work. This tracker fits the best although I'm not a fan of the rubber used. I also liked the TomTom Spark but the display was so huge on me I had to send it back. There are several things that I liked which is why I bought it. 1) not always on display. I work from home and I need something to keep my active but not constantly in my face. 2) I love the move bar, at first I didn't like it but then I figured out how to get it to clear properly and now it's the best since I sit all day. 3) I really like the silent alarms. The other trackers I tested were very loud vibrating, one even woke up my boyfriend when it went off. This one I have set to low and it gently wakes me 3) Sleep data and not just how long I slept. 4) constant heart rate tracking, I want to keep tabs on my heart overall and not just during an activity. These are the things I've really loved. There are a few things I'm bummed about. 1) I love that I can use it while swimming but there is still no way for the tracker to track swimming. I'm a swimmer but I swim for fun so I don't want a dedicated swim tracker or something with a huge screen. I was hoping that this would be nice but it's only so-so. It also took a bit to figure out how to swim with it too, the Vivosmart HR lets you lock the screen which is great for water sports but this one doesn't. The best I could do was turn off gestures and wait for the display to turn off which meant I couldn't really keep tabs on my swim. I also think you can put it on the Do not disturb mode but I haven't checked to see how that works in water. 2) The app has many activities you can log but the device is limited to only a handful, which wouldn't be terrible if you could pick your favorites. I like to hike, walk, swim and do yoga daily. Most of these have to be logged under other because there is nothing on the tracker for it. It's not terrible but I do need to constantly tweak my activities. 3) A bit bummed that they didn't opt to include GPS with this device since the HR+ had it. 4) The thing that does bother me is the inability to properly sync with other apps. Currently they only have 3 apps they approve and if you don't like the way those work you are stuck with having to export from you app of choice and hope the import data comes in properly. As of now I use MyFitnessPal and all my syncs to them are titled "Generic Workout" which is a mess. I like Wahoo since I can do GPS on my phone and broadcast my heart rate through the tracker to get a better picture of my activity. But again I need to export to garmin and I haven't found a way yet to merge data/activities. I'm hoping that as time goes new updates come out that will include more customizing options to make the trackers tailored to the user. As of now I've been using for about 3 days and plan to update this in a few weeks to see if there is any other problems or new things I discover. 2 WEEK UPDATE: Since getting this there are a few issues I've come across and quirks I've worked out. For one in order to use this while swimming you do indeed need to turn off gestures, it's the best way for it to not keep pausing your workout. I have yet to figure out a good way to track my swimming since there's no option on the tracker itself. I hoped since it was doing strength training with reps that maybe that could be useful but I haven't figured it out yet. That being said strength training rep count is a cool feature. I've used it a handful of times. It's not super precise if you move to quick you have to be steady and the app let's you specify what workout you did. Sometimes it even registered properly what it's doing others it had no clue. The IQ movement thing is cool but since you can't edit it nor have it show up in your dashboard it seems kinda useless. I've also had a few hiccups with it, one day the alarm didn't go off at all and I have no clue why, it worked the next fine. As of now if I need to be up at a certain time I set my phone as a backup. Today I had a major annoyance as I was walking out for the gym. For some reason my tracker decided to pair itself to my phone again while I was trying to broadcast HR. I'm not sure why but it totally threw a wrench in my plan. I couldn't pair to my phone for about ten minutes and after I finally had it set up I couldn't get the music control to work. I walked to the gym, swam and came back and it wasn't until I removed my device from my phone and re added did it start to work again. The last thing is the move bar. I like that I can do things like walk to reset it or some fast dancing but I am a bit annoyed that it has to be continuous until it clears or it will completely negate any progress you make to clear the bar. This can be annoying if you are walking to clear it and need to stop to do something or when sometimes you are still moving but not "enough" for it to register. I've had multiple times where my bar line is blinking clear and then it just comes back completely like I sat down or something. Or in other cases while grocery shopping which is about an hour of random walking the move bar didn't clear at all. I guess a leisurely or slow walk will never register movement which is kinda stupid because you are moving. ... show more

  • Great listed features that don't deliver.
Color: Black Size: Small/Medium
It turns out I'm more unhappy with this product vs happy. I'll start with features that I do like and why I'll continue to wear the watch: Pros: -The REM easy wake up feature is definitely a favorite. It waits until you're out of REM during sleep to wake you up so you don't wake up all groggy. I typically set this alarm 5-10 minutes prior to what I would set my normal alarm and it works wonders. Thumbs up! -It's a smart watch, so it gives me message, phone call, email notifications so I can decide whether to reach for my phone or delay. -It counts steps and does a good job at keeping tract of my BMR calories. -It sometimes keeps track of my heart rate if I'm literally standing still. -It keeps track of my rest periods during my weight training workouts. -It doesn't stay on the entire time. Saves the battery. Although I charge it every day, it's nice that it can last up to 3 days for me. -it can find your phone if it's within 7 feet and it MAY track your VO2 fitness. I say may because it took me about 7 tries. And I hate running. -It tells time. I like to keep track of time. -the app keeps everything organized and allows me to customize it to show what I want and in what order I want it. -It's not a fitbit. But if they don't fix the following issues, I may have to jump ship because here...we...go... CONS: - Heart rate. Does an extremely crappy job of keeping track of your heart rate if you're not standing still. I depend on heart rate during my workouts because I want to see how hard I'm pushing myself because that will tell me how many calories I'm burning and how many I need to consume. Biggest disappointment was last night when I wore both the Vivosmart watch AND the Jabra Sport Elite (Tracks you're heart rate through your ear canal) and if you look at the pictures I post with this review, SAME workout, vivosmart says 310 calories vs 695 calories the Jabra detected. UNACCEPTABLE. I've had this watch since August. How many other MAJOR miscalculations have I done because of this watch? Not happy. Even standing still, the vivosmart will detect a higher heart rate vs the Jabra by 10 BPM, but during workouts, it detects slower heart rates by over 40-60 BPM. Is it because there's a small tattoo near the point where I wear the watch? I don't see why, because I've worn on my other wrist where there isn't a tattoo and get the same results! -Customization. Come on. I'm an Android user, I LOVE customizing and tailoring everything to what I prioritize. So why can't I decide the order of the options on the watch? Simple fix. -Touch screen. I swear I yell at this watch several times during my workout when I finish a set and then tap the watch to begin my rest period, but nothing will happen. I'll more carefully tap the button again, and nothing. I'll stand still and tap it and STILL nothing, so I'll yell and furiously tap it multiple times until the rest timer begins. Other times, the watch will graze my pants and it'll start the rest period, or set. Where ever I am. No consistency on the touch screen. -Flick of the wrist? Fitbit has this feature, why can't garmin? No, garmin wants you to bring your arm down and then raise to chest level. And if it doesn't work, you have to stupidly drop your arm and raise it again and hope it works the second time. "Why don't you just wake up the watch with your other hand?" I might HAVE something in my other hand that prevents me from doing said action. -The stress feature is questionable. I'll be sitting here peacefully and it'll suggest I have a high stress number and then I'll be super stressed/angry and it'll read that my stress level is low. Really? -The app. I LOVE that you can add weight and reps to track your volume. I HATE the fact that it takes me an additional 15 minutes to do this after my workout because it reads about 99% of all exercises incorrectly, and THEN it doesn't let me add custom exercises! So Not only do I have to figure out what exercise from their list closely resembles the exercise I did, THEN I have to do it ONE BY ONE for everything else. There is no way to select, for example, 4 exercises where I did the same exercise and label them all the same, I have to click each individual exercise and change it. It was an awesome feature to see how well I'm doing/improving, but wow, TIME consuming. I still write all my workouts with pen and paper because this app is not as user friendly as they make it seem. Simple fixes here, y'all. -Doesn't have a widget. That's an easy one guys. Get me a widget. -Sleep feature. Give me the option to have the app prompt me to imput the actual hours I sleep vs when the watch thinks I went to bed and woke up. This is something I'd have to consciously remember to do, but I don't. -The running tracker is not accurate. I ran a 5 mile run and this watch was off by almost a mile. Go with the vivosport that has the GPS if you're mostly a runner. -The auto set/rest detector during weight training workouts tends to think I'm doing a set when I start walking. And sometime stops a set while I'm just pausing during the set. Simple fixes, I think. Except the heart rate monitor. Maybe you can partner with Jabra to interlink the watch and headphones for the most accurate HR sensor around. I don't want to go to fitbit. I would like to stay with garmin, and I went with this watch because of the weight lifting tracking, the VO2, the sleep tracker, the REM easy wake up, calorie tracker, the smartwatch capabilities, and the fact that it's not a fitbit. Keep this customer. Improve your next watch. ... show more
