  • Garmin Instinct
Color: Refurbished Graphite Style: Refurbished Instinct
I have been a Garmin Guy for a few years now. I started with a Vivosmart several years ago strictly for the smartphone notifications. Then I went to a Vivosmart HR when I started running. Next was the Vivosmart HR + when I got serious about running and wanted the gps feature. I’ve recently gotten more into hiking so I decided to try the Instinct. Honestly, at first I didn’t like it. I almost returned it. I was overwhelmed going from my three previous touchscreen Garmins to the old school buttons of the Instinct. It took me a while to figure out the buttons, short presses, and long presses. I also didn’t realize the importance of calibrating some of the features. That’s not a fault of the watch though. But I REALLY wanted to like this watch and my wife talked me into giving it more time. I’m glad I kept it. Once I got it calibrated (compass, barometer, altimeter, etc) and got used to the buttons versus the touchscreen I really like it! It has so many great features for the outdoors and hiking. I love the Storm Alert feature. It takes some trial and error to find the correct sensitivity but once I got it right it is surprisingly good at predicting changes in the weather. The altimeter was fairly accurate on my recent trip to the Rocky Mountain National Park. I even got to use the TracBack feature when my family missed our fork in the trail. It’s also very rugged and tough, waterproof, built to military standards, and looks great. I’m very glad I got the Instinct. ... show more

  • Decent watch, terrible display
Color: Refurbished Graphite Style: Refurbished Instinct
This watch is let down by the small low resolution display. It has excellent contrast, but I can't tell a 5 from a 6 in the fields with small font size. I switched it to dark text on white background and improved contrast, but still too much squinting and guessing. It is a small square display on a large round face. Worse yet they masked off part of the display to make part of it look like a separate round display. Poor design choice in my estimation. Pros and cons: +Tells time without waving arm around or touching screen +No touch screen (a benefit for me in an active type watch) +Good button action +Excellent contrast +Live pulse rate +Garmin app is very good +Amazing battery life -Itty bitty display on a large watch. Text and small numbers very hard to read. -Inaccurate and erratic pulse rate -No pulse ox (SpO2) -Expensive relative to other watches Alternatives: I also own a Ticwatch Pro 3 and a Samsung Active 2. All about the same price. The Garmin is the most rugged and has the best software. The Samsung is nice looking and has decent software, but I have to flail around or tap the screen to tell the time. The Ticwatch is far and away the best watch, but their software is terrible. Fortunately it is compatible with Fit apps and others, so I can work around most shortcomings. The dual displays on the Ticwatch are great. I will keep wearing the Ticwatch until something better comes along. To be honest I only bought the Garmin as a beater to wear when I am working in the yard or on a car. I would be content with it in that role if I could read it. Since I can only read the time part of the display, I will just keep wearing an old dive watch when I am worried about bashing my watch. btw, the Garmin is a refurb. I haven't found anything bad about that part. It arrived in an official looking Garmin box that says "Refurb" all over it, presumably to keep someone from selling it as new. ... show more

  • Amazing
Color: Refurbished Graphite Style: Refurbished Instinct
If you are interested in a watch that does awesome stuff and not a mini smart phone on your wrist, this is the watch. It's not fancy or colorful. It doesn't do the tricks that lose their luster after three or four uses. It's barely stylish. But what it does, it is simply the best at. Flawless step counting. Amazing weeks long battery life. Fully customizable display. Very accurate and smooth heart rate measurement. Flawless phone connectivity. Perfect app integration. If you love running, this is the watch for you. Or, if you hate running but still have to do it because the Army makes you, it's the right choice for you. Great job Garmin. ... show more

  • This is the one!
Color: Refurbished Graphite Style: Refurbished Instinct
Honestly enjoy the fact that it’s not touch screen. All the functions are easy to use. Very user friendly. Extremely easy to ready the screen. Connects to phones without a problem and like that it notifies me of messages and emails. Overall very useful and durable watch!

  • Awesome smart watch. Long battery charge.
Color: Refurbished Graphite Style: Refurbished Instinct
I run a lawn care business. I’ve always used G-Shock’s because of their durability. I needed something I could see who was calling, or the first line of a text. This is tough, and does what I need it to do. Battery easily last 2 weeks, and I wear it 24-7. Update: I’ve had this watch for over a year now. I finally tested the battery length. This IS with the GPS feature OFF. I took it off the charger the morning of March 17th. The “battery low” indicator came on just before I plugged it in the evening of April 5th. That’s after it’s a year old. ... show more

  • Perfect for those who like to wander
Color: Refurbished Graphite Style: Refurbished Instinct
This watch is rugged, durable, functional and easy to use once you take the time to familiarize yourself with the button functions. As you can see in the photo, the markings on the case are easy to see and deeply engraved, so they will remain visible for years to come. Accuracy is perfect. Battery life blows my mind. I wear this watch 24/7 and use multiple functions every day and ony need to charge it once a week. Very impressed. Best outdoor watch I own and I have several top brands. ... show more
