  • Serious powerful outdoor powerhouse of a tool
Size: 47 mm Style: fenix 8 - SOLAR Color: Titanium with Yellow/Graphite Band
Awesome tool that has grown on me vs Apple Watch Coming from the Apple Watch Ultra I wanted a smartwatch that had extended battery life and gps features that didn’t require phone connection and that also had topo graphic view format with water/weather indications on the gps map feature. So far I’ve done multiple hikes and scuba adventures these past few weeks and I can say that this watch really shines for the hardcore outdoorsman. I wanted the solar 47mm option so it would not be so bulky on my wrist. I opted for the solar option so I could extended the battery life in real-world scenarios. The display is perfect for sunny days and outdoor activities. One key feature that I did not anticipate liking so much was the Garmin connect app. You can find tons of hikes local to your area and also map your own trails which makes getting out there super easy! This could be pretty cool if you are an avid cyclist or runner and want to find/build/track your exact distances for a coordinated route and monitor your progress as simple as looking at your watch. One feature that I really wish was available for the fenix 8 was the ability to use air integration for scuba diving. However I believe that feature is only available on one of the other scuba specific watches made by Garmin. The menu is not as intuitive as the Apple Watch Ultra, however once you spend some time with the watch you will quickly overcome that small learning curve. The Apple Watch Ultra is still a useful tool if you are going on sub 2 day adventures or working in an environment that needs features such as the walkie talkie or picture messaging directly to your watch but I feel much more confident wearing garmins Fenix 8 47mm solar on my wrist for real deal outdoorsman situations. Both watches have a place on my nightstand but the Garmin is a beast that keeps on going with battery life measured in days not hours. ... show more

  • Best watch!!!
Size: 51 mm Style: fenix 8 - SOLAR Color: Titanium with Yellow/Graphite Band
Love this watch!!! Second week I had it I had a really bad bike crash. This watch took the hit and didn’t flinch. Even start a call to my wife. Best watch I’ve ever had. And I’m a watch guy!! The functions are easy to learn. And it’s great on the trails and cycling. I would buy this watch again.

  • Great watch! Worth the price tag $$$
Size: 51 mm Style: fenix 8 - SOLAR Color: Titanium with Yellow/Graphite Band
I had a Fenix 5X Plus (Sapphire) for five years and absolutely loved it, but recently the battery has started to fade pretty fast. I decided to upgrade to the solar version, and I'm really glad I did. The user experience of the watch interface has improved. It feels more intuitive and user-friendly, and the battery life is excellent so far. For what it’s worth, I still use my old watch. I keep it in my pocket while walking on my treadmill desk since my arms aren’t moving enough to register steps accurately. With the old watch tracking steps in my pocket and the new one on my wrist for heart rate and stress monitoring, I get a much more complete picture. Garmin seems to sync the data between both devices pretty seamlessly, which is a nice surprise. All in all, I’m happy I went with the solar version instead of the OLED. My eyes aren’t what they used to be (early 40s problems 😅), but the display on this one is still easy to read, even in dim light. That was one of my biggest issues with the 5X Plus, sometimes I just couldn’t see the screen at all. One thing I want to flag for those cautious about the price. From my experience, fitbits lasted a little over a year before it would start acting up, and obviously its out of warranty by then. I considered the cost of the Garmin watch compared to the fitbit assuming Garmin would last longer. And it did. Hope that helps others who are on the fence because of cost. ... show more

  • leakproof buttons means no more broken buttons, YESSS!
Size: 51 mm Style: fenix 8 - SOLAR Color: Titanium with Yellow/Graphite Band
garmin brought in a lot of new things to like with this watch but coming from the tactix 7 pro the leakproof buttons is what made me hit the buy button on this one, my tactix gps/okay button broke so i got scared into buying this watch aka the watch where the buttons will neverrrrrrrrrrrr break due to leaking problems, FINALLY!! I looked it up online and others said garmin watches buttons break too but i guess that's why they made the new fenix 8 series have the leakproof buttons to never break again other than that, i got a free warranty replacement on my tactix 7 pro so now i have two flagship watches to compare and contrast with, lots of changes from garmin OS UI/UX wise, like some improvements, some drawbacks, and of course obviously some things will be better/added/etc cus the newer fenix 8 watch has the beta software branch to add/fix things .......my biggest thing to note on is : for example, garmin gaming activity on this watch fenix 8 cannot "SAVE LATER" where as tactix 7 pro I can pause and "RESUME LATER" and problem is without that ability it keeps nagging you to continue and if i'm using that activity for like productivity tracking and take a break then it gets old quick so BUT ON THE OTHER HAND, you can't see activity duration as easily as fenix 8/new activity selection screen so yeah there's a lot of software changes, some good, some not so much overall though, definitely my daily watch oooo last thing, comparing to the tactix 7 pro..... the SCREEN IS SO MUCH BETTER omg, removing the transparent (10% absorbtion) solar film over the screen like helps LIKE DOUBLE the screen brightness and visiblity like wow having both in person it's insane how much better the newer MIP solar design is last last thing : I could just be using it more/daily usage, but I swear my tactix 7 pro has a little bit more battery life than this fenix 8 solar i daily now ...... tho nothing compared to my instinct 2x solar, that thing was legit days with activities until even worrying bout needing to top off the battery ... show more

  • Almost there.
Size: 51 mm Style: fenix 8 - SOLAR Color: Titanium with Yellow/Graphite Band
So I’ve been on a Garmin watch craze lately. Got really tired of the Apple watches. These are gorgeous watches. Especially this model. The feedback on the buttons the titanium shell everything is great. But one thing I noticed was the sleep monitoring across all the watches. I’ve tested this on the instinct, three, amoled and solar. All of them failed drastically when monitoring sleep. I’ve also been testing out two different ring health monitors. Both of those monitors forgive me for waking up a couple times per night to urinate, but still track over eight hours sleep. Which is accurate. All the Garmin watches, though, fail drastically. Every one of them is only tracking about three hours of sleep. I have to manually correct the sleep times within the app. And of course, this throws off the body battery and all the other health settings because it thinks you only got three hours sleep. This is pretty unfortunate and I hope Garmin addresses it soon. ... show more

  • Scratches Scratches
Size: 51 mm Style: fenix 8 - SOLAR Color: Titanium with Yellow/Graphite Band
I had a Fenix 6x Pro. I've had the 8 solar 51mm for 6 weeks. This is truly an upgrade worth the price (if you recreational dive). HOWEVER, keep in mind that this thing scratches SUPER easily. I bumped it against the wall of a swimming pool and it now has scratches from the 9:00 around the top to the 3:00. It didn't hit the screen, but the bezel was scratched in the first three days of owning. For a multi sport watch, it should almost be scratch proof. I utilize it as my everyday/office watch with a nice band, so the scratches are a problem. As an adventure watch only, the scratches wouldn't be as bothersome. Not effecting my rating, but just a comment.... the flashlight a cool idea in concept, but it's location is less than ideal. Its at the 12:00 position. So when using it at camp and using your hands, it's useless. It should be at 3:00 so it's shining towards what your using your hands for. ... show more

  • Perfect
Size: 51 mm Style: fenix 8 - SOLAR Color: Titanium with Yellow/Graphite Band
An exceptional watch. Beautiful yet functional. I don’t use the voice assistant features, but it performs the core functions for which I need it perfectly. if you’re on the fence between 47 and 51, 51 is the way to go if you’re on the fence between AMOLED and MIP, MIP is the way to go due to visibility in the sunlight, AMOLED competes against the sun while MIP only gets brighter This is the best model. the 51 titanium has beautiful numbers around the watch face that the 47 doesn’t have Core functions: Time, timers and alarms, solar charging, heart rate, activities, flashlight. ... show more
