I absolutely love this watch. It's tough, amazing battery life, tons of features. However I wish I had gotten the 5X sapphire for the maps and spotify. But besides that I haven't found a single feature I don't like. I'm not a huge exercise person, however I do take my dogs on walks a few times a week I go kayak fishing and I go out on my boat. This watch tracks all of those activities and more. This watch is making me want to buy a bike to ride that and get into better shape. My fiancé has a Samsung active 2 and she's jealous of my watch and the features and is going to buy a Garmin on black friday. I can't help but recommend this watch. My only issues are the app to me feels kinda clunky and rough around the edges. And sometimes the compass says I'm facing east when I'm facing north which after a quick re-calibration is back to be being just about spot on. ... show more

When deciding to purchase this watch, I noticed comments about damaged inventory and how the watches were not being refurbished properly. Between those reviews and the positive ones, I was unsure whether to buy or not. I made the purchase and have not since regretted it. If the watch does come in and it is in poor condition, it is easy enough to return to Amazon. I was fortunately enough to get a perfectly functioning model with no damage to the exterior. The quality and reliability has instilled a confidence in Garmin watches that will lead me to purchase a new one, once this one has had its use. ... show more

I switched from my apple watch to this Garmin and i absolutely love it. Battery lasts me about a week when i have done a lot of GPS tracking but coming from a battery that lasted hardly a day this is an awesome improvement. Not as functional as the apple watch when it comes to notifications or calls but it certainly does enough and it does it very well. App does a lot more with performance metrics as well which i really enjoy ... show more

This watch is and looks damn cool! But... the pedometer is incredibly off, and the stairs tracker doesn’t even work. But then again let’s just think about it, this watch is usually on our most dominant arm, we use it to pick up our coffee to write with, how will a watch know the difference right? So I don’t blame it on Garmin but, this is horrible for that because there really isn’t a accurate way of getting that info unless it’s on your ankle right!.. I bought this watch because my personal opinion the fitbits are ugly and the apple watch isn’t Much better, But this has a nice look to it, and you can change the watch face, see when it is going to rain, check the temperature, get text, email, any messages that appears on your phone will appear on this watch, it tells you your stress level “honestly who knows how good that works” and I can control my music with the watch, pause, play, skip and volume. You can keep your phone in your pocket and control your music. This is great for outdoor Bluetooth systems, leave your phone close to the Bluetooth, and use this watch and control your music, it’s pretty cool. If your going for looks and not spot on analysis this is great! But most people are buying this for sports and outdoor activity, and honestly this isn’t accurate don’t waste your money, but it used, or refurbished... I still love this watch but hate how inaccurate it is. ... show more

Truly enjoying this watch. It lasts about a week with regular daily use, a little less with working out (I charge about every 5 days when logging multiple activities during that period). A good value on a top-notch watch!

Just wanted to note that this watch looks identical to a new one. It is "renewed", but I gave it a very careful once-over and it looks brand new. No scuffs, no scratches, no wear on the watch strap. Anybody worried that these are returned watches that looks lightly used, that isn't the case. I don't know what they do to renew these, but I can't identify a difference from new, except that they don't come in the standard box. I’m an avid backpacker, hiker and runner and this is my third in the Fenix line. This is not only a solid GPS watch that replaced my old Fenix 3, but also my VivoSmart step counter and HR monitor. The battery life is amazing, it covers all my activities with vastly improved GPS accuracy and 24x7 HR monitoring. It may also completely replace my GPSMAP for hardcore bushwhacking. Big, yes, but great for runs and workouts. I ordered the sapphire version and it didn’t come with the second band that you get when you order it new, so that was pretty disappointing, though… Sleep tracking is worthless, so you might as while change the setting to not even show that on the app. It can’t recognize if you’re awake unless you physically get up and out of bed. As I sit here updating this review, it thinks I’m still sleeping even though I’ve been away for an hour. That then skews the recovery stats. Also, if doing a “run” workout, and you have sections where you walk, your readings will be off. It will drop your cadence randomly to zero, causing the averages to be off. I contacted Garmin support and their response was only because I was walking when I should have been running. Altimeter/elevation is almost always wrong by 75-100 feet unless you manually calibrate it daily. Having to calibrate the altimeter this often makes it useless. Update as of 10/31: did a 9 mile hike, and for the first three miles, it tracked my heart rate as below 70bpm. This threw off my average heart rate readings, my calories burned, and all my training effect data. I’ve come to realize almost none of the readings are accurate. Not sure if it’s because it’s “renewed”, but if you try to exchange it, Amazon makes you reach out to the seller directly. Extremely disappointing. ... show more
