The media could not be loaded. Works as describe. Works well right out of the box. But works even better once you linked it to the app. Maps come preloaded, not on SD card, although you need a new/blank 32Gb micro card to download software updates. Linking the unit to the phone is a bit technical since you have to switch between the units Wi-Fi and your home WiFi while updating software. Sonar and charts work great. Unit comes with removable base dock and sun cover. Installation was straight forward, mount sensor, feed wires, install brackets and connect to power, after this, download app and update software, then make it your own by customizing layout and colors. I'm married to a very meticulous man who has never really embraced technology. He has spent his life fishing primarily on Lake Erie. He's had brand loyalty to Lowrance since the beginning of fish finders. He's had his HDS for several years and never did get the hang of using it to its full advantage. He bought a fishing boat last fall and gave the family cuddy cabin to our son for his family. Only problem was our son couldn't afford a sonar unit for it and didnt feel comfortable taking it out without one. So, being the type of parents/grandparents we are, we passed the Lowrance on and started the search for one Hubby could actually use and benefit from. While he continued to look at Lowrance, I walked over to the Garmin display. Wow! What a difference a brand makes! The salesman kept comparing the Lowrance Hubby was considering to the Garmin, and now I knew why. So, I suggested Hubby take a look at the Garmin. He was so impressed by the graphics and comparative ease of use, he was sold. Now that he's had time to play with it and use it at least once on Lake Erie, I am happy to report I have a happy spouse. And of course, happy spouse, happy house! Since I haven't actually used it, I don't feel comfortable giving it 5 stars. But I can recommend it. ... show more

Definitely a game changer, being able to map the area you're fishing and see weedlines and rock outcrops is so helpful, you can also use the built in contour map is amazing for planning you day of fishing.

Replaced an older Garmin on my 16' Dauntless Boston Whaler. Wish I had sooner but the perfomance is great and works as described. There was little or no directions so if doing this yourself you obviously need to plan the install around the layout of your boat. It took about 6-7 hours to remove the old unit, cleanup the wiring, pull the cable through the hull chase, and mount the transducer. ... show more
