Very accurate compared to Bushnell laser.
This Garmin S10 watch is something else! I was a laser rangefinder addict, and I will be retiring it soon. Now, I'm a numbers guy, it's in my blood. I shoot distances every where from 300 to 10 yards in. It boarders on absurd. I've used the watch to try and break this habit, and it has. I've had it for 2 months, and used it in tandem with my rangefinder, because I just didn't trust it. Well, my last round, I left the rangefinder in my car on purpose. I played strictly with the watch and had a great round. This watch has a very useful feature that is not advertised. It will measure your distance from anywhere with any club, from point a to point b. Read the instructions, it has this feature, and no rangefinder can do that. I now know the average distances with most of my clubs. It really surprised me how off I was. This feature alone makes it well worth the price. I don't keep score on it, so I have that feature set to off. I use the Garmin app for that or any of the other umpteen scoring apps installed on my phone. Well, it was a great purchase for me, it broke me of a bad habit. It's also very inexpensive compared to a name brand laser. Now, from 50 yards in, you can see the pin, and you will know the numbers to front, middle and back and can add or subtract a few yards to get the distance just about spot on. Don't worry, it's very accurate as well. A yard or two difference from my rangefinder. If you need to be that exact, carry the rangefinder too. I'm not Phil, and I'm not that accurate, where I need an exact distance, within a couple of yards is fine for me. I really like it, and have had zero problems with it in the last two months and about 10 rounds. I wear it as a regular watch too. The extra bands in different colors are also on Amazon. It's the same case on the outside as the Garmin Forerunner 35, and lots of band styles and colors for it. Ive only needed to charge it 4 times. Battery life is great. I also connected it to my Apple iMac computer with the included USB charging cable to upgrade the firmware, not sure it was even necessary. Garmin Express is the computer app I installed on my computer to do the update. hope this helps anyone on the fence about buying it.

A great tool on the course that doubles as a watch.
I had been looking at these, but not too much as I have a rangefinder. Also this is available on the Apple Watch right? Then I played with a guy Franz he had this watch and was using it. It looked simple to use. I saw it here on Amazon for $99.99, I researched it and figured why not try it. Well worth it! The yardage constantly updates, no need to scope it. It also has yardages to hazards and also lay ups. A range finder won’t do that. Plus this measures your shots and also keeps score if you want. It doesn’t have a touch screen like the specs say. That’s fine by me. I prefer 4 simple buttons. I did try a few of the watch apps, they were not worth the trouble. This is simple and automatic. It updates the satellites and lets you choose your course where you are. It even changes the holes as you move to a new tee box. I really really like this watch. You can also wear it just for a watch. It shows the time in 12 or 24 hour mode. The distance can be yards or meters. It shows the date or sun up and sun down times. The colors. I got the blue originally thinking it was Navy. It’s a gray blue or blue gray color. A lot of dark gray in the color. The gray is a light gray, called powder gray. I prefer the black. Nice and dark. Navy would have been nice as well. Lastly the display is reversible black numbers on a white background or white number on a black background. Very easy to read, even for an old man. Easy to see in sunlight. You can also change the language on the watch if needed. Just buy it already.

Lightweight & easier than a phone app.
I normally use a free app on my android phone but it is cumbersome to use because I constantly have to wake up the phone and get past the lock screen on almost every shot. When I saw my league playing partner simply look at his wrist to get yardage, that's when I became interested in the Garmin. As it turns out the Approach S10 is not the most feature rich Garmin model. It is not an activity tracker and does not have Bluetooth to automatically pair with a phone and app. This is OK as it is not the most expensive model either. I am mainly interested in yardage and it does that well. Also gives layup yardage as well as hazards. Accuracy seems to be good as it measures closely with course yardages. It des have a quirk though. One course I play has #1 Tee box located near #9 green. The Garmin thinks I am on #9 when actually teeing off on #1. Hole location can be manually adjusted and, once done, the Garmin has no trouble keeping track of your hole position. As mentioned, the S10 doesn't have Bluetooth capability and therefore, does not automatically pair with your phone. There is a setting to keep track of your score however, and you can manually upload scores using a USB connection to a computer. I have not used and figured out this feature yet but I have updated software on the device using this connection method. It requires you to download and install software called Garmin Express and create a device account to use these on-line features. All in all, I would recommend the Garmin Approach S10 if you are mainly interested in shot yardage at a glance like I am. If you want more advanced features like activity tracking, auto pairing, color screen, etc. You will want to research other models.

Good investment
I have used a Callaway GPS watch about 8 years and it's still working. Unfortunately it appears that Callaway doesn't make golf watches anymore. I just thought I would upgrade and after reviewing a number of watches, decided on Garmin. Basically it has just what I need and Garmin has been around for a number of years so I don't see them going out of business. This watch finds the course I am at in a matter of seconds and keeps updating the yardage practically instantly when I reach my ball. I like the feature that shows the distance to hazards over the hazards. Has helped me many times. Also shows the shape of each of the greens, which is nice when I can just see the flag from the middle of the course. Also like that it shows my ball in relation to the fairway and the green. Like how it automatically goes to the next hole when I have just finished a hole. Have not used the scoring feature yet, but looking forward to it and the ability to upload my scores to the Garmin app. Overall, I am sold on my purchase. Very satisfied.

Ah.....An Easy-To-Use Golf Distance Device that is Light and Affordable
I just bought this device, and I am so far very pleased. I have been using various golf apps on my iPhone for the last five years. These apps work, but they are not at all convenient. Friends have a range of golf watch brands; all of them were in the $400 range and seemingly bulky. This one has the right features and price for me, so I bought it for myself for Christmas. I had been concerned that the weight of one of these devices would be bothersome during my golf swing, but after a minute, it feels so light that you forget you are wearing it. Nice. On the one outing so far, the watch knew exactly where I was, loaded the course, and proceeded to operate flawlessly for the whole round. A couple of times, it helped to walk a few additional feet on the tee away from the previous green to have it automatically index to the next hole. Overall, the Approach S10 is just about perfect for the way I play. The display is excellent in any lighting condition I have encountered. I am not sure how they do that, but it is very impressive. The battery lasted all day, and assuming it continues to have good battery life, I don't think I will ever need more uptime than it offers.

This golf watch does everything I need it to do - good value.
Have used my S10 for 4 months - at least 30 rounds of golf - it has been everything I hoped it would be. So far, I've been very happy with its apparent accuracy - usually within 1-3 yards of my friends' laser range finders when the pin is near the middle of the green. I also enjoy the fact that the watch will automatically change to each new hole. I've also never had a battery life issue - in fact, it lasted for 36 holes one day. I was used to a touch screen on my previous golf watch so it took a while to get familiar with the side buttons and which one to push but that is normal with any new device. Recently, two of the courses I play took away score cards and pencils (Covid 19 protection) so I started using the scoreboard feature which was fairly easy to use and has been a nice, easy to use feature to have. While the watch normally shows distance to back, middle, and front of greens, it does not show distance to the front for shots within 25-30 yards of the green. I can usually estimate that distance fairly well but it would be nice to have a confirmation with the watch - don't understand why that happens. Overall, I'm happy with the reliability this watch is providing.

I bought this for my son who plays a lot of competitive JR Golf tournaments every year. I’ve personally had 3 Garmin golf watches and this is my sons third one as well so we have a bit of experience with them. It seems that with each newer model we’ve bought the battery life continues to get better, the accuracy improves, very easy to read (even with old eyes in direct sunlight) and the durability remains great, what more can you ask for... if this Golf GPS lasts as long as the others have I can expect 4 to 5 years of heavy use before it needs replaced. This watch will last 3 18 hole competitive rounds (each round is normally 5 + hours) which is great knowing how my son will often “forget” to charge his watch the night before he plays. We’ve had no problem with the watch acting up when it gets wet even when playing in rain. It’s used as a tool so it doesn’t get baby around. The distance to hazards and layup yardages is very helpful since he plays so many courses that are relatively new to him. Overall, pick a Garmin Golf GPS that meets your price point and desired features and go for it, you’ll be happy. I’ve had friends pick cheaper off brand watches that are $40 or $50 less and they’re never happy with them (battery life, accuracy, durability, etc.).

Watch band fell off after 30 days...
My original review is below. So here's an update... I have now had two watch bands break on this watch. The first lasted 3 months, the replacement lasted 10 months. Garmin, just read the reviews! Many of the negative reviews mention broken bands. I reiterate, the product itself is terrific. But I only wear it for golf, so it's not even my go-to daily watch, and still the bands just come unglued. Garmin has been responsive in sending replacements, but I'm expecting to lose the watch entirely some time soon when the next band breaks. Redesign it so that it's a one-piece attachment, not just flimsy rubber glued to plastic. But if you're happy at Garmin with negative reviews, just leave it the way it is. What a way to do business! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The watch itself is terrific; accurate, lightweight, good looking and very useful. However, the watch band fell off after 30 days. Just unglued and separated from the watch, on both sides. Garmin admitted that it was defective and was responsive in offering to replace the band at no charge, but the replacement was ordered 6 weeks ago, and I'm told that it won't arrive for at least another 4 weeks. This whole time I have obviously not been able to use the watch to play golf. It's just an incredibly bad design that is bound to separate from the watch. It is rubber glued to plastic. I have no idea if the replacement will hold up...but I'm not holding my breath.
