  • Gets the job done!
This tray is simple and efficient for sprouting. Second one I have bought since I lost the first in a move. Sprouts all seeds except the tiniest (don't bother trying watercress!). It's my go to - reliable and all that you need.

  • Excellent way to grow sprouts and KNOW they will be FRESH!

  • Quick and easy way to grow your own microgreens
These are great for growing quick sprouts and microgreens without messy jars or losing half your tiny alfalfa seeds during watering. The mesh is tight enough that you'll only lose a few. If you use larger seeds, they won't fall through the mesh at all. Having two sprouting trays is nice because you can start them a few days apart and have fresh sprouts frequently without waiting between harvests. They come with 2 trays, but you can buy more and stack them taller if you want to sprout more than 2 types of seeds. The small footprint means I can use these in my tiny apartment kitchen without losing a lot of countertop space. My complaint is that the trays are lightweight (which is fine), but feel a flimsy and don't always line up right so you can end up with a mess if you're not careful when you water the seeds. ... show more

  • Perfect - Sturdy and Easy Sprouting Solution
This is SOOO much more convenient than trying to do this with a makeshift screen covering a mason jar and rinsing twice a day. My sprouts thrived like crazy in this. Some customers thought that it was brittle or breaks easily, I totally disagree. I've tried two different kinds of sprouts so far. Super sturdy, cleaned in the dishwasher just fine. I would highly recommend and if this one ever breaks later on, I would just buy another one. ... show more

  • Wish they were sturdier
I really love the small footprint of these. They hardly take up much counter space so if you're limited like us, you'll like that. But, I wish they were sturdier. The plastic cracks/ breaks really easily. I had to return one because it was broken on arrival and then after getting the replacement, I cracked some corners on that one (aaah!) But, I'm still carefully using them. Because. Fresh. Sprouts. The directions say to pour water through the slotted top. I don't think your seeds get enough of a rinse this way. I've had much more success by just taking each layer and running them under cool water right from the faucet in the kitchen sink. I do this twice a day (with small seeds. 3xs with bean type) and rotate the layers. Feel free to use your fingers and move them around. This will keep them from jamming in the tray slots. It's important to not have any mold issues so a good cold rinse helps. I've found that using 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of small seeds such as a radish, alfalfa, broccoli, clover type mix per layer is all you need. Just soak the seeds overnight for better germination too! If you do this, they won't fall through the slits either like others have said. One note for new sprouters: you may notice what looks like white mold after a day or two, esp with the little seeds. Relax! If you look closely with a magnifying glass, you'll see they are teeny, tiny roots! Just keep rinsing and they'll keep growing. It takes 4 to 5 days to have a nice batch of sprouts to throw on a salad or sandwich. Store leftovers (if you have any) in the fridge. I got a 2nd one so I can keep having sprouts. We are a family of 2 and use lots of sprouts but can use one batch for 2 to 3 meals. I'd also suggest gently washing the trays between batches with lukewarm soapy water and a brush to really clean out the slits. We don't want to have any issues with mold on our sprouts! ... show more

  • Works Well for Me
This was my first time growing sprouts, and it works very well for me. I used Nature Jim's Sprouts Salad Mix, which contains alfalfa, radish, broccoli, and clover seeds. I soaked the seeds for 24 hours before adding them to the sprouting trays. The seeds are tiny, but soaking basically doubles them in size. The soaked seeds did NOT fall through the slots in the sprouting tray. I cover the tray with dish towel the first two or three days, to block the light. When the sprouts start to appear, I set the trays outside for an hour or two each day, and leave them indoors the rest of the day. (The outdoor time seems to green-up the sprouts.) The picture is after 7 days. At that time, I refrigerate the sprouts in a a different container. (See picture with sandwich.) Properly refrigerated and hydrated, the sprouts last about a week - by then I've grown a fresh batch! Something to consider - make sure you are aware of the size. It's not very big. Measurements are provided in the description. From my experience, the sprouts you grow in a week last about a week for two people using the sprouts in salads and on sandwiches. So - it's a good size for us. Second consideration - because of the stacking design, the sprouts in the bottom tray can grow only about 3 inches. As you can see in the picture, that's fine. You could always unstack the trays. Recommended. Ordering a 2nd one. ... show more
