  • Very Helpful
Style: Modern
We love this! If your lawn is small or middle sized—I would recommend this! If you have a large lawn, this is still very helpful if you rake the leafs in small piles throughout. It does require to be emptied pretty often, but the emptying process is really easy. The assembly is decent. We wish it came with better directions, but we were able to figure it out. The ease of pushing is good, but if you do lower or raise it too high it won’t push easily. Don’t give up too quick, just adjust how you’re pushing it first. Value for money was okay. The size is good. The cut quality of it is very well. ... show more

  • Better Than Raking Leaves but...
Style: Modern
I have 3 mature large trees on my property so every Fall I would spend many weekends and hours raking and bagging leaves. The Gardena Leaf Sweeper is better than raking leaves but does NOT sweep them up on the first pass. It picks up leaves easily. One must pass by the same area several times to pick up 100 percent of the leaves. It picks up thin twigs and other debris from the lawn. I like the adjustable height knob. It took me a while to figure out HOW to adjust the height for picking up leaves. The silver bar that goes across the knob has to be lifted up or lowered down manually (in order to get the right height for sweeping up leaves). Twist the knob to loosen it, lift the bar up or down, turn the knob to tighten and secure. I put the product together by myself. It requires a Phillip's screwdriver with an X head (or an electric screwdriver). When ready to insert the long silver aluminum handle into the hole, I recommend laying down the section with wheels to make it easier to insert into hole. For me, the basket filled up quickly, but it was easy to remove the leaf collecting basket. It is a generous size. However, it is NOT easy to empty leaves into large bags alone (especially since the basket can easily collapse). I found the basket too wide to fit my large plastic bags. I had to invest in several EXTRA-LARGE black containers, place the bags into these large containers and empty the leaves into containers. I discovered I needed to manually move the leaves UP to the top of the leaf basket in order to continue sweeping up leaves into basket. I recommend wearing garden gloves to protect hands from getting cut with sharp material that may be hidden within the leaves. It took me a while to figure OUT WHERE the edge of the basket goes. Why? I did NOT realize that the FRONT part of the large basket has a flap. It looks like a strip of black leather, but it is not real leather. Use your finger to pull up or feel for the edge of the flap. It is 15 inches in length and has black stitching. This portion goes OVER the thin black steel bar that is attached to the leaf basket. This is located towards the front portion. It will automatically slide on and connect to the thin black steel bar once you see where the flap lifts up. The Gardena Leaf sweeper is made of heavy-duty plastic. The wheels are well made and heavy duty so I anticipate the product will last for up to 5 years. The sweeping part is made of plastic. These turquoise teeth/sweepers rotate around and around as you manually push it around on the lawn to pick up leaves. I recommend adjusting the height to figure out WHICH height works best for sweeping leaves into large basket. The long silver handles that connect (two pieces) are NOT plastic. I suspect it is made of sturdy aluminum material. The thin black bars that shape the leaf basket are made of steel. The black handle where hands rest is comfortable and made of thick black plastic. It is ergonomically efficient. I like that my back and shoulders are no longer sore from raking, bending, stooping etc. It doesn't really save me time, but it definitely saves my shoulders and back from pain. Finally, the product comes with instructions, but I did not find the directions very helpful or useful. The product is overpriced since it doesn't pick up leaves on the first clean up attempt. The sweeper part, which is turquoise, can be improved. I don't believe the sweeper part of this product will last more than 5 years. I like that once the basket is removed the product can be hung up on a large hook in my garage and doesn't take up a lot of space. ... show more

  • It picks up leaves
Style: Modern
This does what it needs to: picks up leaves. However I do think it’s overpriced even getting it on prime day still $140 (-1 star). It’s very light weight and easy to put together. Things to keep in mind: It works best if grass is dry and ALL even growth, ideally short grass- otherwise you find yourself having to constantly adjust the height of the little plastic “hairs” that pick up the leaves (-1 star). You shouldn’t force it or you’ll mess up the hairs. It doesn’t leave a spot completely leaf free with one pass, requires multiple passes. The bag also doesn’t hold many leaves which I find crucial considering you’ll have to keep emptying it way more often (-1 star). Finally it’s a cute tool to have and probably does save some time from raking. It’s more fun than raking and because it’s so light weight and easy to do, a kid can probably do it. If you don’t mind that it’s overpriced then get it! ... show more

  • Works Well - but be realistic
Style: Modern
TLDR; This works really well if you are realistic about how many leaves you need it to pick up in a single pass and is for sure faster than raking. Can recommend for anyone who has issues with the process of raking due to pain. Works well with a leaf shredder. Full Review: This works really well but like the title says, you need to be realistic. It is not going to pick up a mount of leaves in a single stroke. You have to set it up correctly to the height of how many leaves and you may have to make a few passes. But once you get it dialed in its phenomenal. I normally have issues with back strain and with repetitive motions, but with this I actually found that I only had to take one break. If you look at the first and second images, they are after my neighbor took a mower and got it in a line for me (he is a really nice guy) from two different angles. This actually helped me gauge how tall of a pile it could pick up. And what I found is that if configured correctly (setting the height) you can pick up to about half an inch thick of leaves. This will leave some leaves behind as you go but thats easy to get on second pass. The other images show progression of one hour and then when I thought I was done. This in total took me about 1 hour and 27 minutes. Normally it takes me about 4-6 hours to just clean up that many leaves. So I can say without any bias that this does work if your realistic. One thing to note is that while it does pick up well, due to my initial error in height adjustment, I had to pull leaves into the retainer. Speaking of the retainer, it needs to be emptied when leaves are touching the bar, or a little before. If you do not, it will be a lot harder to get the leaves into one of those brown bags for the curb. If you have a small yard or only 1 tree this can work really well. Larger yards or more trees may benefit more from taking a mower to it first. This will get the leaves down to a more manageable amount. Also one thing I would recommend is if you are low on bags or just want to be efficient get yourself one of those leaf shredders. It will make containing the leaves this picks of a lot easier and will be space efficient. ... show more
