I picked this item due to the promoted ability to handle a 30 degree slope. My yard is uneven. The robot has been great to identify holes in the yard by getting frequently stuck. By day two, i had identified and filled them all. The yard is already starting to look more uniform. The mower has a fairly quick but rather steep learning curve. My best recommendation is to have a plan for burying the guide wire. Stakes alone are insufficient or the mower will cut the line. With no guidewire sensing, mowing stops until reconnected. The operation is very quiet. You hear it cutting grass, but its nowhere near as loud as an electric string trimmer. The bluetooth app will automatically sync the mower's time. The app allows for monitoring charging, configuration & easier scheduling than the mower's onboard interface. I see no problem with scheduling runs in the middle of the night. Its that quiet. The lawn used to take me at least an hour of constant mowing. Now the job is 10 minutes of edge trimming. Despite it taking Amazon three tries to send me a working model & despite that working model only lasting 3 weeks, I can still recommend this product. The problems are easily identifiable and repairable. The two most common problems are firmware upgrade and battery death. The firmware upgrade requires a new Windows or Mac machine, a torx bit and a USB cable. It is not always necessary to upgrade the firmware but be prepared for some rare circumstance. The battery death problem is more common & requires the torx bit as well. When the battery dies, the bluetooth application will report charge at 100%, but upon disconnection from the docking station, the mower will immediately power down. The battery module is an arrangement of five 18650 cells and a built-in charge controller. Although Gardena is not selling a replacement battery pack on their website, there is one available on Amazon. It is not a Husqvarna branded battery pack, but uses the same part number, configuration and dimensions. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JJPNXX If you are feeling desperate or adventurous, rebuilding the battery module with new 18650 cells requires a soldering iron and voltmeter. I would recommend taking a photo of the wiring layout prior to desoldering. The ease of maintenance & widely available power supply significantly extends the longevity of this product.   • Great idea But....

I have had my eye on robot mowers for decades after seeing one operate as a young adult. Now I finally bought one and am a bit disappointed. The mower initially did not charge so after 2 months of trying to get help from the MFG, I turned to Amazon for help and was assisted right away. Now, 4 months after purchase and full replacement, the promise of help came from the MFG-- too little too late. Set up is a big deal... mapping out the yard and placing the guide wires. OK. Once done, then you need to make sure there are no pitfalls in the yard upon which the mower might stall or hang up. The mower needs to have a short lawn which is not thick in which to properly function. When docking, it sometimes does not charge and sometimes has trouble finding the docking station. So be aware, it is not as easy as it would seem. I am somewhat happy but also somewhat frustrated. ... show more

I have now owned my Silencio for just over a year, and it has been running for about eight months since I took it out of service during the winter months. The Pros - There aren't many. It's less than many, and it is fairly quiet. I run mine after midnight, and no one hears it. The Cons - "Customer service" is terrible. "tech support" is worse. Guide wires are a ROYAL pain but most of them need it. I would never buy another one that did not have GPS. Apparently, there are two versions of the one I have. One US and one everywhere else and the non-US one is apparently better. The parent Company also apparently makes a better version with GPS for close to the same price but the Gardena brand is very inferior. When I brought the unit back into service this year, I also updated their firmware, at their request. Nothing but issues since. One person said they would send me a new battery since there were issues with mine charging correctly. Over 2 months later, no battery and now they say they won't send it to me, they will only have me send the unit for inspection and replacement and I'd be out the mower for a week or so. I have emails back and forth that they said they would send it to me and I could replace it myself. Poor service. You can only "access" the mower through the app about 35-40' from the unit. I am looking at buying a newer one but I will not buy this brand or their parent company. I would spend a little more and go with a better brand with GPS and WiFi. I would rather also wait a little for prices to drop and get one that needs NO boundary wire. There are many other brands that are better with better service. ... show more

  • Mows well, setting up is a lesson in frustration.

I turned on the mower and paired it with bluetooth. Easy! Then it booted me and I could never get it to connect again. I contacted tech support, and they said it needed the wires installed and the complete system set up to work. After installing the boundary and guide wire, and making sure my lawn was super short to begin with, everything was operational except the app/bluetooth connection, and thus the mower only had basic controls. I tried everything, connecting over and over, attempting to re-pair, updating the lawnmower firmware. Nothing could get it to ever reconnect again. Tech support ended up sending me a box to send it in for repairs. A few days after sending it they told me they had updated the firmware and it was working fine. I got it back and to make a long story short, am still having issues with the app not wanting to connect and having to delete/re-pair the mower every time I try to change anything. The mowing part is great. The mower has never gotten stuck on my yard, never gets lost, always makes it back to the dock. However doing anything with the app is pure misery, and thus monitoring or trying to alter any settings on the mower is torture. EDIT: After considerable trial and error I figured out that turning the Bluetooth function off and on again right before connecting to the mower, or if the connection fails, works almost every time.
