Great for plants. My only question is why ship this as 40lb wet peat when the bag becomes a 15lb dry peat if allowed to evaporate water? I mean we would rehydrate it after use anyway so why ship wet?

After years of buying soils from Home Depot, Menards, Lowes, etc I kept running into the same problem: By the time the soil gets to my yard it's been compressed and compacted into essentially soil bricks. Michigan Peat is the Rolls Royce of soil. When it came it felt like there was powdered sugar in the bag. It was so light and healthy, it just felt like real soil. Nothing was overly compacted. No rocks, a few twigs but nothing unmanageable. I was able to easily spread it to the areas of my lawn that needed some freshening up. I mixed in some grass seed and am awaiting the results but already I can tell this is the best soil i've used. It's definitely pricey, but you're not only paying for quality soil but also having it delivered "fresh". ... show more

The thing I liked was that the soil was delivered, but it was not enough for the area and I found that I can find cheaper soil at the hardware stores. I need ten more bags for the area I am covering but what I need will not fit in my trunk, so having the soil delivered was a real plus. I would only re-purchase because of the convenience of not having to make several trips to Lowes, or for a better price. If you are a senior woman with a helper and have a small area to cover, I would recommend the soil. ... show more
