I have a small to medium sized yard that has silty soil. In the past, I’ve used a manual, coring style aerator so was eager to see how this type of tool would compare. Overall, I find this aerator much easier to use. It arrives in 3 parts and takes no time at all to assemble. The tool is entirely made from metal and feels heavy duty. The springs/ plate that retract when you apply weight to it works smoothly. The spikes are sharp, fairly long and pierce through the soil easily. If your lawn is compacted like mine was, it works so much better if you either wet the soil first or use it after rainfall. This garden law narrator is a must have for anyone who has Rocky. Soil or soil? That's very clay, like we are in Missouri zone 6, and so our soil is super clay. We basically need this in order for grass to grow or to aerate the garden. It's very easy to assemble you just roll it across your lawn. And it helps loosen up soil. I have dogs and they like to run, so I’m Always replanting grass. I have spikey aeration shoes, but they always come off or get clogged with dirt. Ugh. An actual lawn aerator is exactly the tool I needed for my yard. It comes with fifteen sturdy spikes, & easily punches through compacted soil, leaving neat plugs behind and helping the lawn breathe and grow. Depending on your terrain, you may be pulling up mud, and have to stop to clean it Out. The included cleaning tool makes maintenance simple, keeping dirt and leaves from slowing me down. I picked this up to give my yard a fresh start, and it works exactly the way it should. The spikes cut clean holes in the soil, and you can actually feel the difference in how the ground loosens up as you go. It’s all manual, but it isn’t hard to use because the T-handle gives you good leverage, and it doesn’t feel flimsy or wobbly. The build is solid. The metal is sturdy, the welds look good, and it doesn’t bend even when the soil is on the tougher side. I also like that it comes with a cleaning tool so there's no not constant stopping to clear out dirt. My lawn always looks tired and unhealthy, even with scheduled fertilizer, it never have that vibrant green look of my neighbor's lawn until I learned that I have to aerate it to allow air, water, and essential nutrients to penetrate deep into the root zone. After a month of using this lawn aerator tool my lawn begins to look healthier and I starting to notice it getting greener. This tool is built like a tank. It will stand up to the toughest soil. The material is powder coat, rust-resistant iron and the heavy duty reinforced welding keep this aerator lawn tool last for many years with repeated use. The T-handle tube is of thick gauge iron that won’t bend or break easily. The earate section has two panel. The top panel has 16 spikes and the second panel is spring loaded to clear any dirt that stuck on the spikes this made it a joy to use. The unit arrived un-assemble and required about 10 minutes to put everything together. Overall, this aerator is a must have tool to keep your lawn healthy. This Manual Garden Lawn Aerator is the perfect tool for a small lawn. It is great quality! It’s made of heavy-duty material that doesnt bend or break when you’re pushing it into tougher patches of soil. Despite being a manual tool, it is sturdy and easy to use. The foot bar is well-placed, allowing you to use your weight to drive the 15 spikes into the ground without straining your back or arms. I really appreciated that the instructions were very easy to follow. Assembly was quick and straightforward, which isn't always the case with garden equipment. They even included an extra screw, washer, and nut in the package. It’s a small detail, but it shows the brand cares about the customer and ensures you aren't stuck if a small piece goes missing during assembly. The comfortable soft grip handles make a huge difference. Even after working on my entire lawn, I didn't end up with blisters or sore hands. The padding really absorbs the pressure well. I am glad that I got this for my lawn. I need to aerate my lawn grin the ground getting compacted after having the host and garage demolished. The heavy equipment packed the dirt down and grass can’t grow. More I can use this tool to help the ground grey some rain down into the existing roots. I also plan on reseeding the ground after aerate it. The quality is the tool seems to be very good and durable. I think this is going to work great for what I am trying to achieve. Being a smaller manual tool, I can get around all the little buildings and coops I’ve built on this compacted ground. ... show more

Once assembled, the aerator feels durable and sturdy for a manual tool. The steel components are thick, the welds are clean, and nothing wobbles under pressure.
