Excellent, quality product... slightly 'challenging' (but not bad) to fold because of locking mechanism but I'm not sure how it could be designed differently because locking mechanism is essential for safety. This garden stool, garden kneeler (with handles to help get back to standing position) is a blessing for Seniors and younger gardeners alike... if you're into gardening and/or other projects, it's lightweight, convenient and comfortable to use and a good investment... your back, knees and body will thank you and, hopefully, hurt less and last longer! The stool/kneeler is reasonably stable depending on the surface where used (eg concrete vs soft/wet ground)... Use appropriate caution not to lean too far back or push backwards for concern of tipping/falling backwards and/or tipping/falling when returning to your standing position. This stool/kneeler is working well for us/Seniors and I would repurchase.

I am impressed with the quality. This item is well made and sturdy. No assembly required and it folds and unfolds easily. On carpeting, I can use the sides to push myself up or bend from the bench to pick up something off the floor without fear of tipping. So why only four stars? On hardwood or tile floors, it slips, which could be dangerous. I wish it had some rubber sticks-ons to keep it from slipping on the patio or in kitchen or bath. The "pad" (to me that word suggests a little cushioning) is downright hard. I wish it had a soft layer over the hard pad. My knees hurt as much as they do when I kneel on my carpet. When sitting on it for more than a few minutes, my tailbone hurts. I will keep it for all its good attributes, but I will have to put non-skid tape on the metal and a folded towel or a piece of medium density foam on the "pad" to make it work for me. I do feel a bit exasperated when I can't use a product right out of the box but first must jury-rig something to make it right.

I never thought that I would need something like this, I was content to just get down on my knees and dig in the dirt to weed and plant. But as I've gotten older, I've spent a lot of time on my knees over the years and having the padding and the slight elevation really takes the pressure off my lower legs as I work. plus with the chair turned over, having the handles to help push yourself up to stand is really nice. Then when you flip it over it's nice to be able to sit down at a small table to work on potting things for smaller garden areas as well, works really well with my raised garden beds. I like being able to set my hand trowel and other nippers in the pouch on the side, it keeps things handy but out of the way. I would really recommend this to anyone, but especially to those that have a little bit of trouble getting up and down or anyone who just wants to take a little of the stress off when gardening. I found it to be really sturdy and I'm a bit bigger so I know what it takes to keep me from falling down so it should work for all sizes of people.

I received this today, so it is brand new. I will review next summer and let you know how it holds up. I knelt on it and it has great cushioning. Easy to open and close. Seat, nice and low to the ground so bending over from a seated position is comfortable. Both my husband and I are having a hard time getting up after kneeling and working in the yard or on the floor or in the bottom kitchen cabinets. This helps by making kneeling more comfortable and the the metal legs are great to push up off of when it is turned upside down for kneeling. Great buy! Would buy again and may get as a gift for a friend in the future.
