First, I got this on sale for around $30 so I cannot fault the price. An aggressive plant took over my main kit and my poor little lettuces needed a new home. Setup: pretty easy. Controls: vague. I mean it's a simple set of controls written on the top of the unit but there are 4 options and 3 settings (on, two light settings on the second tap but tapping it again rolls to the pump setting). Hard to tell what the timer is on the pump and if/when it's running so you have to check on it a lot to see if it's working. Soil plugs: use different ones than the ones that come with the kit. They mold faster than any of the soil plugs I've seen so far. P.S. the plastic straw things go into the holes in the bottom plate and are meant to act as supports. They look like they belong to the water circulation kit but apparently do not. They are not really mentioned at all in the instructions or called out well in the kit contents and took a lot of searching to figure out what they were supposed to be. ... show more

This item was about half the size of the "name brand " but I was impressed with the well thought out design. It closes up to a very small size for storage. It comes with plant supports and expands to a nice height for harvest. It has a contained pump and is USB powered but includes a brick as well. I own multiple hydroponics, but I foresee this being one of my favorites. I will update this once I have been able to use it as intended. ... show more

I finally learned to garden! Well, thanks to this hydroponic system, I did. It has 12 planting holes and can grow a wide variety of seedlings. I absolutely love all the fresh (and lush) plants I can grow now!

This product would be okay if the pump actually worked, but it failed within a day of use, which means no circulation or oxygenation of the water which makes this unit worthless.

This kit would be great as a starter package to inspire someone to become a "hydroponiac" and indoor gardener. Great for seedlings and plants light butterhead baby lettuce. This certainly provides enough light for seedlings. I have a little bit of question as to how this will perform on more mature vegetation that have greater light needs. The reason I say this, is because the leds are spaced out in a manner that could be more dense AND the ceiling of this system discourages reflection (unlike some systems that encourage reflection and bounce light more readily. Still TBD on mature plants. Assembly and use will be easy for people who have used these systems previously...BUT for first timers, the instructions could use some improvement. Seeing as this kit seems meant for starters, this is a little bit of a conflict. >>>Not stated in the description: this kit holds 5 pods. When I ordered this, I kept trying to figure out its maximum capacity and was relegated to counting the number in their photo. When ordered, this was priced at $49.99. At the time of this review, the price is now $43.99 (more in line with reality). Plus, with a current $10 coupon you can currently click, we are looking at $33.99. At this price, I'm thinking I'll buy two more... one for my niece and one for my nephew. Due to the lack of instructions, I will walk them through the process of growing their first hydroponic garden. This is the worst buy I’ve ever bought. It looks like it shrank or something!!! Looks so much smaller than online shows. Not sure what to do with it… not useful at all.

This hydroponic growing system was a little smaller than I expected. I had ordered two previously over the last year, and they both were similar in size. This was a little bit smaller than expected. But it still works just as good. I'm excited to finally start cultivating my herbal garden. Now that I'm living in a senior facility, I can't have my garden outside, anymore. So when I saw this... I thought it'd be so cool to grow my own herbal and spice garden. I really love fresh herbs and spices in my food. However, due to a lot of things that were going on in my life, it took me a while to get to hang of this. I'm not sure I'm quite there yet. But I'm starting to see a little bit of success. So I'm really excited about that. It's not really too difficult to use. It's just...that it took some time for me, since I've never used one of these before. I wanted to make sure I was doing it right; so I wouldn't waste a lot of materials, seedlings, and stuff like that... When I was ready to start growing my herbal garden. So far...so good. It doesn't seem to affect my electricity much, which is a good thing. And I love the fact that I can grow herbs all year round. However, once I start seeing a really good batch of herbs springing up, I'll come back and post some photos. ... show more
