    • Good Product That Serves Its Purpose ...
Needed a new one of these after replacing geerage door side tracks. Why re-install the old crappy lookin' one on new shiny tracks (lol) so I opted for this one. Was a good choice thou once I compared to the old - it's 'not' as beefy - every dimension of this one was a bit smaller including the slide rod. This one also did 'not' fit right up due to the track slots being slim cut n' in the middle of the track - this new slider was closer to the door due to being thinner than the old - whch meant I just had to file out the slot til it would fit n' slide without issue. After some thoughtful brain farts to get to the conclusion there b no other tool than a few files that'll fit the area - a few rigerous moments filing the slot did the trick - mounted this new piece and done. And thou its 'not' as hefty as the original - it works - no ones gonna get in - or out for that matter without using this device. Fair to say its still a '5 star' item - there's always gonna b a scenario where its 'not' just a few minute change-out ... personally seems like its always become a 50/50 til satisfied with any type of jobs completion. This lil gizmo arrived in good time - no missing parts - it's still made well enough - it works well and should for a duration beyond a few years without issue. ... show more

    • Just okay, some assembly required
First, you must assemble this product before installation. It's not complicated. You will need to attach the red plastic cover, put the slide through, then attach the spring, then screw it to the slide. This gives you the option of preparing the lock for the left or right side of your door. Not sure if they intended for it to be that way or just the way it turns out. That being said, I have a pair of these, from a different company, installed on another door, that are nice, heavy duty, pre-assembled, and cost the same. This one isn't as well built and makes me think it will fail under pressure. Also, I really don't like self taping screws for wood. They tend to make to big of a hole, so I opted instead for some extras I had laying around. I didn't deduct anything for the screws. Just personal preference. All the best. ... show more
