  • A Perfect Range Backpack That Does Not Look Like A Range Bag A Perfect Range Backpack That Does Not Look Like A Range Bag
Color: Black/Tan
I searched and searched for a backpack styled range bag where I could carry my gear and my weapons comfortably without "looking" like a range bag or standard duffel style. I shopped locally at many sporting goods stores and on Amazon and it seems that I made a great choice with the G.P.S. Handgunner Backpack. I hope to write a review to answer many questions/descriptions you may have that I had but could not locate online. Overall the Handgunner backpack feels solid, sturdy, and comfortable with quality materials and stitching. I am a tall guy and when I wear it on my back it does not feel shortened or awkward. I also appreciate this color scheme of this model, as there are other versions to purchase, but this black with tanned highlights really appeals to me. My highlights - pockets and storage. There are numerous pockets and storage as highlighted in the description, but one thing they do not explain or show is the good depth of some of them and the generous width. So far these meet my needs confortably. - magazine storage. There are 12 total sleeves for your magazines (6 each on each side) in secure zippered pockets. - one of the upper pockets holds a hook & pile tape securing feature "ammo" cup about the size of a small ashtray. This enables you to place your rounds in it at the range, etc and then it simply secures back into the pocket when you are done. - rain fly cover. This cover is attached to the backpack and when unrolled it easily covers the entire outer sides of backpack and secures itself with an elastic border to provide a snug fit. It does not cover or interfere with the backpack straps or where the wearer would have the backpack on their body - the weapons caddie is made of firm rubber material and is detached where you can easily remove it. Additionally, it is contoured and grooved for trigger guards and barrels. You can use it in the bag or on your range table as it can stand on its own. - the bottom pocket (where the weapons caddie sits) is big and spacious while having a firm outer door to protect the contents yet on the inside part of the firm door, there is a thick plastic zipper pocket where you can store medium to small items. The good thing about the spacious area is that you could remove the caddie and use your own small weapons cases to fit in there, etc, that some other backpacks provide room for. - the upper most compartment for hearing protection is very deep and comes with a semi-firm removable bottom. You could easily store 2-3 full sized bulky styled ear muffs of hearing protection, if you have more stream lined ones, it just leaves you more room for other things - middle outside pocket (above weapons storage) holds your range glasses, inner ear protection, has a clip for car keys, a zippered pocket, and when closed provides some more space for other items between the outer flap and the range glasses, etc. - right side lower pocket (when looking at the backpack outside pockets) is an adequate storage for staple guns, range supplies, target dots, and more for your range needs. It seems to be a pretty versatile pocket with good depth and width. This includes a hook & pile closure on a pocket about the size of the one for your range eye wear. - the backpack handle is made of thick silicone and is comfortable to carry the backpack with; in hot or cold conditions Additional note, the G.P.S. rubber logo patch on the outside of the top pocket can be removed. It is secured with hook and pile tape and I plan on replacing that with a U.S. Flag Overall, I am genuinely pleased that I took a chance on an unknown product, from a company I never heard of or could find ANY decent reviews on (there are a few out there, but not informative). If you are looking for a range backpack that does not look like a range bag, then this will serve you well with style, comfort, and a quality build. ... show more

  • Tons of space! Great bag! Tons of space! Great bag!
Color: Black
I bought this bag on the recommendation of a friend. After I realized that I've bought purses for WAY more than this, I dove right in. Upon opening the box, the bag didnt really look like much. After loading it up, I'm in love! All (almost) of the pockets are labeled with little pictures so even the most disorganized person can figure out where things are very easily. I dont even know where to start on the storage. I guess the best place to start is the main reason for the bag...pistols. I decided to see how many I could fit. 7. The main compartment holds 4 in the provided foam mold. I still had room, so I threw in a case underneath. I may have put a couple in the side compartments, and might even sacrifice my bino pocket for another one or two (so, total: 9, easy). There is plenty of room for mags as well. Both side pockets have 6 double stack sleeves; the pockets are big enough that you can put more in there if you need to. There is plenty of room to store range supplies and cleaning/tool items. Also included is a dump cup that is velcro'd into the pocket. The top (ears) provides a large open space. It can easily fit 8-50ct ammo boxes across the bottom, more on top of that AND still fit my ears! There are velcro loops on the outside for targets. Most of the compartments can be easily opened with one hand, no need to unzip both from the center. The pistol compartment has a lockable zipper (kinda wish the mag compartments had that too). All of the main compartments are padded, padding between mags and pocket behind it on both sides. The sides of the center section are lined with a hard component that provides structure and protection. It also comes with an added bonus of a raincoat. This told me that these guys thought out their product. The eyes and plugs pockets are lined with a soft, I assume anti-scratch, material with a flap with hook and loop closure. So, after putting all of this stuff in it, I picked it up. The padded straps are comfy and secure. I'm comfortable carrying it fully loaded up to 50 pounds. The section at the top between the straps is not very comfortable. It digs into the back of my neck unless I bend over. This might not be a problem for someone taller than i am (5'7"). My only complaint(s) about this bag is that the pocket for eyes is a little small and my glasses dont fit. But no worries, they fit outside of the pocket no problem. I think the straps need a different design to be more comfortable on my neck. (P.S. a total want, not a negative by any means...more color options.) ... show more

Color: Tan
Perfection! 4 guns fit easily and snug in the bottom compartment, every pocket is well designed for optimum storage of my range gear...High Quality for sure and feels comfortable when carrying on my shoulder. This is our second G.P.S. other one is the rolling bag my husband uses. Totally recomment this model. Zippers are great quality and you can lock them if needed ... show more

  • This is the best range bag I've ever owned. This is the best range bag I've ever owned.
Color: Tan
Excellent. The thought that went into the construction and design of this bag is excruciating in its detail and care. I am so impressed that I actively stopped and tried to imagine anything I would change. Perhaps a pull out gun cleaning mat? Whatever there's enough room to add my own. Let me try to describe some of the finer details of this bag that you might not get from the limited photos: there's a couple loops on the side for large paper targets that are often hard to carry. There's a perfect spot, designed and labeled (as all pouches are labeled) for your staple gun and masking tape! In the top left pouch (labeled for a cleaning cloth) there's a bullet cup! It comes with the bag! And it's got Velcro on its bottom and Velcro in the pouch to secure it! If it rains, there's a pull out, elastic surrounded bag cover to keep your whole bag dry. The main gun compartment has a durable rigid construction. The four pistol foam rack slides out. A full size 1911 fits perfectly, as does a M92. A larger gun might not fit as easily but you could make it work. The zippers are of different types depending on the ruggedness of the pouch necessitating a stronger zipper. ( small pouches have small zippers, bigger pouches have big rugged zippers. The main gun compartment zippers have space for a small lock). The two outer bottom side pouches each have 6 loops for magazines and can hold lengthwise full size 1911 8 round extended mags and are wide enough for .40 or .45 double stacks. There is extra reinforcing stitching on load bearing seams like on the main straps. There are gear clip attachment points on the straps. The carry handle has a big thick rubber wrap so even loaded down the bag can be easily carried. In short, this bag has it all. It's awesome. Even the label on the front is Velcro so you can add your own tacti-cool patch of choice. A++ would buy again. ... show more

  • Awesome Backpack. Sew the straps before using though!
Color: Black
This is simply the best bag I have ever owned. I saw it once while at the range and talked to the guy who owned it. And his eyes lit up when he started talking about it. So I had to get one for myself. Now I can't say enough about it and when people ask me I get just as excited as that guy was. It carries a massive amount of ammo. I can even fit 2 M&P Sheild 8rnd mags (with that little plastic adapter on the mag that is between the mag well and the base plate) in each pocket. The guns I normally have in it are Glock 21SF, SW 357 J-Frame, M&P Sheild and Ruger LC9s. It holds everything you need and has a place for everything you need. It's easy to forget your stapler or tacs when going to the range but this guys has pockets specifically for them like rolled up targets on the side. They thought of everything with this bag. There is even a built in rain coat for the bag. I only have two cons: 1. With my guns LC9s and smaller the insert is not tight enough to keep it from moving. Even though it doesnt bang into anything and keeps it safe. I would like an insert for those real small pistols I have. 2. The adjustable straps leave A LOT to be desired. If I am spending ~100 bucks on a pack pack I shouldnt have to sew the end of the straps so they don't slip out. They should have a stop at the end so I don't drop 3 grands of guns and equipment at the range. ... show more

  • All and All a good range bag!
Color: Black
Received the bag today, loaded it went to the range. Saw this bag at a local store priced at $113.00 plus 3% sales tax. Purchased from Amazon and with the extra charge for expedited shipping saved $20.00. Now to the bag, I have been using an Uncle Mike's patrol bag for many years and have never had any issues. So after seeing the GPS bag I figured it was time to upgrade. We do a lot of range time, be it indoors your out. I bring everything and I do mean everything, amour's kit, PPE for two to four individuals, targets, ammo for all calibers being shot, spotting scope, so on and so on. The bag took it all plus room for more. THE PLUS: Well made, arrived as described, pockets, and a place for everything a shooter might need. Top pocket holds a lot more than it looks like it could, held 800rds that were in the original boxes. THE NOT SO GOOD FOR ME: The four handguns I took today all have lights attached to the rails. All had to come off. Second: I took a SIG SP 2022, CZ-07, CZ-09 and a Colt 1911. The Sig went in no problem, could not put the two CZs next to each other the sides bow out to much, put the 1911 between them no problem. The 1911 and 09 both protrude pass the foam holder to the point that they push the panel out, when zipped. Might be my OCD, but slightly bugs me. CONCLUSION: Really like the bag. Will be ordering two foam inserts for the patrol bag, for extra carry. All and all a good product, good price. P.S. People wanted to check out while at the range. ... show more

  • fantastic but not perfect
Color: Black
The GPS handgunner backpack is well made and has many advantages. You can carry a LOT of stuff with this bad boy. It has well built stitching like you would find with big name brands like Oakley and can definitely handle some weight, be warned though, the pack alone is pretty heavy itself. Each pocket is labeled with a small picture patch for the corresponding item that pocket was intended to hold, like a little picture of a stapler and a picture of binoculars etc...This is nice for finding things quick and staying organized. However, the compartment for the magazines on either side of the pack does not have a picture patch, which I find odd given all the others. My particular pack did not come with the little "key compartments" as seen in the picture in the top open compartment(didn't effect me at all though). The hand gun compartment is spacious when the foam padding is removed and the space could conceivably be used for a(very) small cooler if you wanted to just go hiking or on a picnic with someone. Really you could repurpose all the pockets for some type of gear/camping solution like bird watching or something. Even has a built in rain shield that wraps around the entire pack to keep your gear good and dry(haven't tested yet but it seems water resistant and feels like a wind breaker like material). ***The big downside of this pack is that the overall depth of the handgun slot where the foam board is located, can really only hold 5 inch barreled guns or smaller, 6 inch max and that's pushing it. Any larger and its poking you in the back. I shoot many different calibers and sizes so its not that big of a draw back for me, but if I want to takeout the six and seven inch barreled handguns I can either takeout the foam slot organizer and use gunrugs to place the guns in horizontally and stack them. Or I can cram them in with the foam board and just deal with the discomfort. All and all this pack is made for a day trip with your short barreled guns and shooting gear. if you want to make it a camping with shooting gear solution, then I recommend that short barrels be carried only and that your companions carry the rest of the camping gear. This pack fully loaded, however convenient; can become extremely heavy on long walks let alone a hiking journey, especially with large calibers and lots a heavy ammunition. A person of small stature would not enjoy this pack at all, and I would recommend a holstered sidearm solution for those carrying an assortment of barrel lengths just to keep the comfort level at a maximum. **Also, carrying lots of ammo is a bit of a stretch in some cases. You will have to sacrifice the top center compartment, labeled for ear muffs(so if you prefer those, you'll have to tie them to your belt or something) for the ammo and use earbuds as your primary hearing protection. There's really no place for more than say 4- five hundred round bricks of .22 cal. or maybe a little less than five hundred rounds of .45 cal.(it can actually hold lots more but I always consider weight because ammo is very heavy). The amount is fantastic for just a couple of shooters though, maybe too much because of the weight you'd be carrying at that point. If your carrying for say- 4 or 5 shooters; people may have to carry their own ammunition especially if its a shooting trip and there isn't a readily available external source like there would be at your average consumer range. This back pack is a five star Item for sure but since I really do prefer my longer barrels it does fall short in that department. I would recommend this to any range goer and all around shooter. A little advise to those of you trying to utilize this particular type of gun storage for just a couple of guns and a huge amount of ammunition... you can purchase a separate "slotted" foam board and simply cut it in half and utilize the extra space in the gun section for another 15 lbs or more of ammo. And remember, I stressed the weight in this review because this thing can hold a lot of stuff when packed tight and can become quite the burden. I regularly shoot at a large range and just walking from one end to the other with a full load for 3 or more people, this thing weighs between 20 and 30 pounds. So if your going to shoot all day, lugging the weight will take its toll. Although the back pack style is better than a sling for sure, its still heavy. ... show more

  • .44 DE compatible
Color: Black
Been using this regularly every weekend for more than a year and I’m loving it. If you are wondering about the size of the main compartment, let me tell you that I usually carry a: 1. Tanfloglio stock 2 xtream (that’s a big gun, close like a cz shadow) 2. Glock 17 with a red dot on it (not mos but with an adaptor plate which makes the red dot sit even higher) 3. A 4” Taurus tracker 357 revolver 4. And yes…a .44 desert eagle (this is the maximum length for a gun in this bag without modifying it). Helps me have everything I need in only one bag, no need to carry anything else. Lots of pockets to correctly organize you stuff. Very comfortable to wear even with 4 guns + ammo and other stuff. Seams and zips are high quality. The only backside I found is that when using it on tournaments, you need to carry the whole bag to the safety area to holster and unholster your equipment, but that nothing compares for what I got in return in terms of organizing my stuff. Can’t be happier! I highly recommend this bag for any shooting enthusiastic. ... show more
