I recently purchased this futon mattress for my 2-year-old daughter, and I must say, she absolutely loves it! After refusing to sleep in the confinements of her crib, the futon has provided her with the comfort and freedom she needs to get a good night's sleep. However, as a parent, I have to admit that the futon does not offer enough support for me on the occasions where she wants me in the room with her for naps, etc... I have noticed that I get up with a slight ache in various joints or muscles, which I attribute to the lack of proper support for an adult. Despite this, the comfort that the futon provides to my daughter makes up for it. She has been sleeping soundly almost every night, and I am glad to see her so content with her new bed. The futon is also incredibly easy to fold and store, making it an excellent choice for families with limited space. In conclusion, I would give this Japanese style futon mattress 4 stars. It offers comfort and freedom for my daughter, but could use a little more support for adults. If you're looking for a comfortable bed for a child, and don’t expect to spend much time on it yourself, then this futon is definitely worth considering! ... show more

I've used this as both a futon to sleep on directly on the floor and also as a mattress topper. As a mattress topper, it makes my firm mattress a lot softer and much more comfortable and plush. I've even removed my mattress and slept on this on the floor as I've considered whether I want to just return my $600 mattress! I think if I had tatami mats or a thick rug, it would make this comfortable (or maybe another mattress topper). It is a bit hard if I am directly on the floor as I can feel the floor but I'm still able to sleep and if I'm a back sleeper, it's firm but definitely doable. I think it's a bit tougher as a side sleeper to spend the night but otherwise it's a really good futon and I'm planning to use it for guests. The only trouble is figuring out how to roll it up as it didn't come up with a bag or straps to keep it contained. ... show more

This is wonderfully mattress topper. I actually used it on top of this full size sofa that opens in a bed, but it is not comfortable. Finy I bought this topper and is so comfortable and good quality for a great price! I recommend it!
