  • It's a nice upgrade to my camera
The media could not be loaded. This is a pretty clever design for the FX3/FX30 camera. It's basically an upgrade that lets you connect accessories and power them through a single v-mount battery using the onboard d-tap ports. I have an FX30, so it's compatible and I connected a few accessories. Something that's super important to keep in mind is that you need to purchase a camera cage separately if you don't already own one. I have the SmallRig HawkLock full-cage. However, the top NATO rail portion (SmallRig brand) was not compatible, so I had to utilize a NATO rail attachment from NEEWER in order to properly attach this cinema rig upgrade. So, to make it clear, the instruction manual for this kit states that the recommended camera cage kit is the Tilta full camera cage. With that out of the way, I think this is a pretty sweet kit. It fits my v-mount batteries and prolongs battery life by a lot compared to using the normal NP-FZ100 batteries alone. It also allows for a more functional camera setup because you can mount any accessory to the top and bottom of the rig. There's plenty of 1/4" and 3/8" screw holes all around. I've personally mounted a top handle with a NATO rail and a monitor too. I'm able to power the monitor from the d-tap ports onboard, which makes it very convenient. It eliminates the need to carry different batteries altogether. So overall, I recommend it. ... show more

  • Less expensive essentially direct copy of the Cineback.
3D printed body out of basic PLA (which they are clear about), so don't leave it in the sun, or in your car, and don't expect it to be the most durable. The aluminum cheese plates are functional, but very middle of the road in quality. Not all aluminum is created equally. The cheese plates are bolted into heatset inserts, which is nice, but every other screw on the body is just screwed into plastic. I can't speak to the quality of the internal components, but the digital display does show voltage and the D tap splitter seems to work alright. This is very literally a less expensive (cheaper components maybe?) almost 100% copy of the Cineback. So if you want to save money, this might be an option for you. Long term is it the best choice? Time will tell. So far it does it's job. As long as you don't treat it like a professional tool, and more like a hobbyist accessory it will probably last you awhile. ... show more
