  • Worth every penny! Detailed review!
Size: 16.14” x 16.14” door
Got this unit to replace current 6 gallon suburban water heater. Typical story: full timer, got tired of 5 minute hot water limits. I did months of research, tough decision between Girard and furrion. Furrion won this tie with its more modernized panel and mechanics. Now one month in, here's my review: Install was straightforward, aware I needed to resize the length and depth of my water lines, I was already equipped with a pex cutter and crimper, which will be required if like my palomino, was hard lined to the tank of the old heater. Be sure to drain the low points and shutoff water supply for less water cleanup. mine also required some pex to 1/2" npt fittings to adapt to the furrion unit. My old unit had a 3 wire 12v power source, assuming one was a signal for the dsi fault indicator, I probed for my switched power and ground from the old unit. Power was now supplied and I decided a short run of speaker pair wire would be sufficient to extend the minimally supplied signal wire for the remote unit to the outside panel of the utility cabinet/pantry. I then proceeded to power the unit on with water supplied, and set it to max temp(124°) and turned on the kitchen faucet. Within 10 seconds I had warm water, by 20 it was hot enough to impress me. I decided to settle on 122° as the incoming water temperature is close to 40°, and the first start of the morning for a shower does take about 45-60 seconds to stabilize. Not to be mistaken, the water is hot at 20 seconds but the addition of the cold valve water supply drops the water temp significantly at first, then rises. I have tested the system by showering a typical length as I would in a house with a residential heater. I have also ran it on direct hot for the time it takes to fill a 36 gallon holding tank with just hot water. The system maintained the set temperature within 1 minute of activation throughout the duration if both tests. It has the typical: if you pause flow, then resume you'll get a second of colder water than you expect. But otherwise I have no complaints so far. Propane use seems significantly lower despite the extended testing versus the 6 gallon tank unit. My unit was tested at 60psi of head pressure, easily at 2.5gpm flow, through a kdp whole house filter at 1 micron, with the flow valve left on factory setting(MAX) My door came white, I used krylon quick dry enamel using multiple light coats for the door and frame which were painted apart. Butyl tape, dicor sealant, some pex line fittings crimpers and pex adapters are required for install, along with a screwdriver, wire crimpers and butt connectors. ... show more

  • Super efficient and works great!!
Size: 18.14” x 16.14” door
I purchased this water heater for our travel trailer that we were going to be setting up on a year round camping spot this spring. I wanted to make sure the 4 of us could shower and not be rushed since it’s our summer home away from home. The first one we got was bad right out of the box, and we didn’t find out until we were all set up at the campground 3 hours from home. We tried everything under the sun, double checked wiring, everything. The unit was just bad. Rather than fight with customer service, I purchased this one from Amazon and sent the previous one back to the company I got it from. My husband swapped them out, hooked it up and it worked fantastic. We set the temp at 122 and it’s perfect. We’ve used it for a few weeks now, 3-4 days per week when we are at our camper, with each of us showering 2-3 times a day (not rushing either), and we have only used about 1/2 a 30lb propane bottle. That includes all of our showers, cooking, grilling, and everything else that uses propane. So I would definitely say the water heater is efficient on propane and a great investment for someone looking for more than a 2 minute shower with standard 6 gallon heaters. ... show more

  • Bad mother board
Size: 18.14” x 16.14” door
Installing it was no problem, t h e problem was it wasn't working. After doing some testing, it came down that the mother board needed replacing. Sent company the information that they requested. After a week of not hearing anything from them, I call and they said they had received all tge information. (Don't understand why they waited till I called to send the mother board.) Today it was to be delivered, we'll it wasn't, they didn't put tge apartment number, so there is a mother board out there somewhere. ... show more

  • The Endless Hot Water
Size: 18.11” x 18.11” door
I live in my RV. Have been in it for about 8+ yrs. This is the second time to replace the 10 gal. water heater and decided to try the tankless out. I went with the Furrion because of the ratings and comments of previous customers. It was fairly simple crossover. Already had a 16x16 opening so had to frame in a little for mounting and built a platform for it to rest on. Gas line was able to flex enough to mount to the gas port. Water was done with PEX and shark bite fittings. 12v power was a simple splice connector once I figured out which wires were which. Locating the control module and fishing the wire under the cabinet and through the wall was a bit of a challenge but I got 'er done. I love the hot water that keeps on coming and the amount of gas I am saving. I don't like the loss of water pressure to the hot water. That could be resolvable in the future. I'm not a fan of the amount of cold water wasted to finally get hot water, but that is one of the trade offs you make to switch over to tankless. I have had drips from both of the fittings on the cold water inlet and the hot water outlet. It has traced back to not using enough pipe thread tape on the male nipples. DON'T skimp! I used about 3 rounds of tape and mounted the fittings on the unit before installing it. I should have wrapped it 6 or 8 times. The hot leaked first. Pretty easy fix. Now the cold side has a drip and is not as easy to get to. But... I'll get it. Hope this helps out. ... show more
