  • Holds the BlackBerry canes up!
Color: Orange
The tool itself deserves five stars but I’m giving it four because I found the instructions to be a little vague. It took me 5 or 10 minutes to figure out how to make it work right (I’m still unsure how to feed new ribbon through when it comes time). But once I figured out the mechanics of it, I was out getting all the black Berry canes tied up rather quickly. I definitely believe it saved me a lot of time. The additional staples and all the ribbon is a great touch! Two different color ribbon will allow me to alternate each season to help keep track of cane growth. ... show more

  • I'm 0 for 2. This Plant Tying Machine is Flawed; the Seller is Great!
Color: Green
The media could not be loaded. I ordered my initial FUNTECK Plant Tying Machine several weeks ago. It arrived on-time and well packaged. The device came with one tape already properly loaded. The directions are decently written, but I found it more useful to simply go by the figures included in the directions. They are in color, easy to see, and show detail. I was able to figure it out in just a couple of minutes. Since a roll of tape was preloaded, I only had to insert a staple line. I couldn't get the entire staple line to go in, and the line broke apart into several smaller pieces. I was ultimately able to get about half of the line inside the magazine and use the pusher to push them all the way to the front. It did take me a minute or two to get the hang of the right about of pressure to get the tape catcher to properly grab the tape. Once I was able to do this, I got the device to properly work as you can see in the first few photos. After using the device several times over the course of a week, I went to tie my dill plants to a stake and the machine would not work. I thought I was out of staples, but when I looked, I could see the staples in the machine. I then realized that the pusher had come out. "Oh great," I thought. After searching my garden for about 15 minutes, I finally found it on the ground at the base of a tomato plant. I returned the pusher to the chamber and once again tried to tie my dill to the stake. No luck. After a dozen or so attempts, I was left with just a pile of red tape strips on the ground. Shining a light down into the staple chamber showed that the staples had someone turned upside down. I do not know how that happened since they were loaded correctly and the device had been working up until I noticed the pusher had fallen out. I attempted to use a small magnet to grab the staples and pull them out so I could just reload with a new staple line, but the staples could not budge. I reached out to the seller, who promptly responded in less than 30 minutes. The seller suggested I try to use a pair of tweezers to pull the staples out. I attempted this, but the staples were stuck too far down into the chamber for the tweezers to reach. At this point, the seller kindly refunded me without me having to return the device. I really like the idea of this product and so I decided to try again. I ordered a second unit. Like the first one, this one arrived quickly and well-packaged and with one tape already loaded. I loaded a staple line, which broke apart just like it did with the other device. As far as I'm concerned that wasn't a big deal as long as I could get half a line in the chamber. This time, the device simply did not work. If you watch the brief video I included, you'll see the device cuts the tape without stapling. Once again, I am left with another pile of red tape stripes at the base of a plant. I reached out to the seller and send photos of the staples properly loaded along with the video I've included here. The seller was perplexed as to why the device isn't catching the staples because they generally have good results with this machine. Once again the seller kindly refunded me without me having to go through the return process. I am very tempted to try a third time. There are similar units around this price point that are available, but my guess is they are probably made by the same manufacture and will come with the same design flaw this one has which is there is no way to easily access the staple chamber. If there was an easy way to pull open the staple chamber, then this would really be a great item, even if it got hung up sometimes. Without a way to open the chamber, if there is any issue with the staples, you can't get them out. I will likely try a third time since I am confident it will arrive quickly and because this seller has been great and understanding. I will update this review accordingly. A couple of final thoughts: Some reviewers have stated the tape is flimsy. I do not find this to be the case. If you use an appropriate amount of tape for the size stem you're trying to tie, it holds it very well. Second, Some reviewers have been concerned the device might break if you drop it because part of it is made from plastic. Since I have two non-working units, I decided to purposefully throw one on concrete to see how it held up. It held up well. The plastic parts did not break or crack. At a minimum, it should be able to withstand at least one drop. ... show more

  • so helpful for our garden
Color: Orange
This has been so helpful to use in our garden. sometimes takes a moment to get the rhythm of it. but then it works great. We have used this with our Blackberry bushes, grapes, tomato plants, and butternut squash that was growing up and over a trellis. There is also plenty of line/tape for more than one season. Definitely worth a try, we will use it forever since it has made it so much easier to harvest our produce. I have to try and some roses next! ... show more

  • Kind of works
Color: Orange
I was really excited for this product and to try it out. It works well when needed. The tape sometimes gets stuck and won't staple correctly for some reason.

  • Works Great
Color: Orange
I have already gone through 2 rolls of straping. Machine works very well. It definitely speeds up the process for me. I have 182 tomato plants this year. I was hand tying the plants with twine. Ill admit there was a bit of a learning curve at first but now I'm really getting the hang of it. My daughter tried it out and she liked it so im thinking she will be buying one also. ... show more

  • works but with certain quirks
Color: Orange
Very useful tool when it does work. Sometimes it loses hook grip for no apparent reason and is a pain to restart. Overall, a decent and helpful tool. Would have given 5 stars if worked more reliably (without losing staples when trying to re-start it)

  • Best garden tool to date!
Color: Green
I love this tape gun. I really love my garden but really hate tying up my tomatoes. While the gun is sometime finicky, overall is really easy to use. It made the tomatoes easier to care for and therefore I am taking better care of them. I can’t recommend this enough. I have also used it with my cucumbers and peppers. Works great with them too! ... show more

  • Easy to Use
Color: Green
This tool is great! Works exactly like it says and has supported my plants with ease. I have had to re-tape some areas because the sun (I live in Texas) has weakened the tape, but it is so easy to use it is not a problem.
