For months leading up to Christmas, my six-year-old was asking for this game and we surprised him for Christmas. He lost his mind and he has been playing it ever since, he loves it. It incorporates a lot of different movie worlds like Jurassic Park, Scott Pilgrim, five nights at Freddy’s and more

This video game could have been a great game but the execution is terrible. Remember Disney Infinity or Lego Dimensions? Those games were fantastic except that they were riddled with pay walls and you were constantly reminded that you needed to purchase those toys-to-life characters in order to complete the levels or sometimes even progress to the next levels. FUNKO FUSION eliminates that requirement somewhat and allows you to play any of the pop culture franchises included any way you want. There is a story to follow however, but it doesn't hinder the flow of the game. It's an esthetically beautiful and vibrant game that hits home to many Gen Xers nostalgia. It captures the feel and originality of each IP included and then some. The three biggest problems with this game and sucks all the fun out of it: 1) Full of bugs. This game wasn't ready for prime time. It's very buggy and will constantly get stuck in the levels, where you will be forced to restart the game and re-do everything you've already progressed on the game levels. From getting stuck in the funko boxes when trying to change characters, since many characters have very specific abilities, to simply getting stuck in an area with no way out while everything you need to get yourself out of there is outside beyond that specific area. 2) The puzzles. This game is all puzzle based and I love puzzles in video games, similar to those of the lego franchises. The only problem with the puzzles included here is that they're not intuitive and fluid. The hints provided are very vague with more focus on attempt for humor than any help at all. You will spend hours wondering around while constantly getting killed by wave after wave of enemies until you find out how to solve it, if you ever can. The clues aren't visible and if there are any at all, they are lacking and senseless. Instead of fun, you're guaranteed to get frustrated to the point of not wanting to redo the level nor want to move on to the next thing. 3)No on-line play, not even couch co-op. Most lego games and previous types of games at least featured couch co-op play for two players or more. This game has none and would have made such a fun experience to play with friends and family members who are of proper age for the game's ratings. It was mentioned prior to launch that it would feature on-line play, but has yet to be announced and probably won't feature anytime soon since it's got way too many bugs. As much as I'd like to recommend this game because of its awesome Funko look and pop culture IPs, nostalgia alone can't save it, unless the developers decide to fix these three issues I mentioned, this game will most likely bomb and be forgotten, sadly.
