  • Works great
This remote works great and is even easy enough for the grandparents to use. The size makes it easy to find compared to the Apple Remote. The remote has batteries so you don’t have to remember to plug it in. It was easy to connect and controls the tv power and volume as well. It was a great value.

  • Should have bought this along with the Apple TV
Really good no-BS remote. Buttons are rubberized but feel nice and clicky. Set-up with my Yamaha integrated amp was quick and easy. Lacks the worst "features" of the official Apple remote - swipe functionality, side button and Siri are all MIA (good riddance!) Wish I'd have bought this thing months ago. ... show more

  • Works great, wish you could skip forward faster
The remote works great. Easy to program. It only skips for 10 seconds at a time, but that's a limitation of the Apple TV. It would be nice to be able to skip forward in bigger chunks when on pause like you do with the touchpad on the normal remote. I'm guessing that's not possible. I keep the original Apple remote nearby if I ever want to start a movie at a specific point. ... show more

  • Works perfectly for Apple tv
The remote that comes with the Apple TV in the box is terrible. It is unusable and sucks the big one. Don't ask me how Apple dropped the ball here. Really is a piece of crap. This remote for $30.00 fixed the problem. Now I love my 4K Apple TV. Don't think about it. Just get it.

  • No instructions?
Ordered this Function remote for an Apple TV. and ordered a Channel Master (CM) remote at the same time. This review includes a comparison of the two remotes with a TV and AppleTV. The Function remote came in a plastic bag with batteries making the remote ready to use. CM's remote came in a sealed box with batteries, and a small instruction booklet, making it ready to use. The two remotes look very similar, with a couple of buttons being reversed or renamed, and CM's has an additional "Home" button that Function does not. Both remotes are black with a rubbery top and plastic sides and back. The Function's plastic feels smooth and a bit slippery. CM's plastic has more of a rougher finish which gives it a bit of a grip. Function's buttons are labeled in white with the print being slightly faded, compared to CM's brighter white labels. Function's button feedback is a tiny bit mushier than CM's. The Function remote has its name in white across the bottom making it very visible. CM's name is in black making it barely noticeable. The Function remote came with no instructions. CM came with a short instruction booklet for programming a TV and soundbar but doesn't adequately go over Apple TV's remote functions. Both were fairly easy to "set up/pair" with a TV and Apple TV box using the booklet that CM provided. But had to use Amazon Q&A to get answers on how to use the remote for certain AppleTV functions. In the end I personally think the CM remote is the clear winner. It feels better in my hand, the brighter white print on the buttons is easier to see, button feedback has more of a "click" to it, the additional Home button is useful, an enclosed instruction booklet is helpful, and better packaging/presentation, just to name a few reasons. Function's price is the same and yet it is missing instructions, better packaging, and in my opinion it's not as easy to use. However it is a decent remote and I would recommend it. Disclaimer: I have only had these for a day so I can't attest to how long they will last. ... show more

  • Much better than the original Apple HD TV remote!
This remote is so much better than the original if you did not like the slide area which was never accurate when attempting to accomplish your choice. This remote offers well place buttons and does everything the previous remote did. Someone stated that it does not have a button to choose your different app’s you added in Apple TV, like YouTube TV, Netflix, Hulu, etc. that is not accurate. You simply hit the menu button until your apps all appear just like the original remote and choose the apps you want to watch. Setting up the sound bar or TV was very easy, but you do need to watch your sound bar or TV during the process to see a reaction on the TV or sound bar that lets you know they are synced. To set up your Sound Bar, do the following: • Push “Menu” and “OK” until red light comes on at the top of remote. • Hit the “Arrow Down” button below “OK” every 3 seconds until your sound bar lights up or flashes, then stop and press “OK” button again and your remote works perfectly with your sound bar. I have an old Yamaha sound bar and it synced perfectly. I needed to push the button 30 or 40 times until the sound bar lights came on and make sure your sound bar is on before you start the process. Instructions said that there are approximately 120 sound bar choices you can go through, so your sound bar should be programmed into the remote To set up your TV, do the following: • Push “Menu” and “OK” until red light comes on at the top of remote. • Hit the “Arrow Down” button below the “P” button every 3 seconds until your TV shows a menu item pops up like the volume line on which show your volume level on your TV, then stop and press “OK” button and your remote should work with your TV. I have a new LG TV and it synced perfectly after only hitting the down arrow a couple of times. You need to make sure the red light is on during the hitting of the down button. Again, this is done by pushing the Menu and OK buttons at the same time until the red light comes on. Give 2 or 3 seconds between each push of the button, but the TV or Sound Bar does seem to react immediately when synced. As you are going through the repeat hitting of the down buttons for both sound bar and TV syncing with your remote, be patient and do not feel like nothing is going on because the remote will not show anything letting you know it synced, but the TV or Sound Bar will give you a signal like additional lights coming on or blinking on our sound bar or a pop up on your TV that just appears after you hit the right sync choice for you TV when hitting the down button under the “P”. The only thing I would like to see added to this remote is back lighting for night us, but for the money you won’t find a better replacement. I highly recommend this remote to replace the not so friendly Apple remote that came with your Apple HD TV. ... show more
