I bought this on a whim, not expecting it to be better than the Siri remote for my AppleTV. Wow, was I wrong! Yes, it's bulkier. Yes, it's plastic. And, no, it doesn't have a mic for voice commands. But... omg, I didn't realize that those were features I wanted! This remote doesn't glitch if you spill something on it. It doesn't require as frequent recharging. It never (never!) gets lots in the couch cushions. It feels SO much better in your hand. It uses bluetooth, so you can control everything about your AppleTV from another room if needed. I'm not going back to apple's remote. It also seems extremely durable. My family and I have dropped it on our hard, ceramic tile floor a number of times. Sometimes a corner of the face of the remote will pop off after an especially hard fall. But guess what! You just push it back in and the remote keeps going! I have no worries using this remote. And, unlike, Apple's remote, it doesn't scratch or get its corners smushed in over time. One caveat: If you're constantly using voice commands for searching or something else, then that my be a deal breaker. It took a while to get used to searching YouTube with the on-screen keypad or my phone again. But the other features more than make up for it. Seriously, give this remote a try. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I bought this remote to replace my Apple TV remote and I love it! It is completely functional and replaces it well - the buttons are great and almost no functionality is lost (just the voice control but they specify that). Was really easy to set up. I was having trouble connecting to my Samsung sound bar and scheduled a call - they called me within five minutes to help! I was shocked and they helped me get it sorted in no time. Would highly recommend!

I’ve bought two of these Function101 remotes. One paired instantly. The second? A $40 paperweight that pretends to be alive because the LED blinks, but the Bluetooth radio is completely dead. I ran every reset and pairing trick known to mankind — battery pull, forced pairing mode, forgetting devices, rebooting the Apple TV — nothing. The working remotes paired in seconds. This one never even showed up in Bluetooth. That’s not user error. That’s a defective unit. And the “US‑based support with real phone and email help” they advertise? Total fiction. Chat: always offline Phone: straight to voicemail with a “call back later” message Voicemail: never returned If you get a bad unit, you’re on your own. Bottom line: Function101 clearly has quality control issues; their support may be US-based but is nowhere to be found. Returning this dud. If you buy one, hope you get one from the lucky batch.

The nice part of this remote is the size. We never loose it in the couch or elsewhere. The two issues we have are: - No Home button. This leaves the user needing to hit Menu multiple times to back out of an app and return to home screen. - It often disconnects and reconnects. While navigating around the remote stops working. A "Keyboard Disconnected" message appears in upper right corner of the screen. A few seconds later, "Keyboard Connected" appears and it's back. We've replaced batteries.

I really like the replacement remote for my Apple TV. I was so tired of using the difficult original remote. I have one of the first versions of Apple TV. 1842 model. The thin, flat hard to use version with a lightning cable. This remote is compatible. I never got used to the remote. I know that Apple was trying to be innovative, but this was a pain to use. I should have replaced it years ago. The Function 101 Bluetooth was affordable and very functional. The price is fair. I think if I had tried to get a replacement years ago, it would have been much more expensive. The remote setup was easy to complete. I quickly had the Apple TV and my tv completed. As a matter of fact, it was so easy I didn’t review the instructions closely. The one thing I noticed missing on the remote was an Apple TV home key. I reviewed the setup instructions carefully and found that the home key and control center were accessed by the “P” up and down arrows. I’m happy with the purchase. I wish I would have bought this sooner!

First things first: I received the remote and turned on the Apple TV, which turned on the TV, and it worked right out of the box. There were a couple of things I needed to look up on their web site as they weren't quite intuitive. I must have done something stupid because the volume control stopped working. I emailed support and received a response three hours later asking for my phone number. Mike, one of the company's founders, called, and within two or three minutes, everything worked fine. You can't get better help anywhere! The remote is solidly built, with satisfying clicks when using the controls. The cursor moves expertly, giving me the control I was looking for. My only complaint is that some of the controls don't seem specifically designed for the ATV. Closing open apps and getting to the menu requires clicking up or down on a button labeled "P." I bought the remote because I have a problem with controlling the touch surface (trackpad) on the original remote. I have a terrible hand and arm tremor, which causes the control to jump around the screen too much. The result is the "cursor" moves around too much and clicks on the wrong icon. There is an option in the ATV's settings to control the touch surface sensitivity. I've set it to the slowest setting, but I couldn't control it. There are dozens of other remotes, but this one had all the features I needed and works exactly as described. Keep in mind that there is not voice control, but most of the third-party remotes don't support that feature. I didn't find the voice control useful, but if you need it, this won't work for you.
