These black folding Adirondack chairs came fast, in a well-bubblewrapped 4-pack single box. We assembled them up on the kitchen granite island; much easier than on the floor. Material appears to be excellent--some sort of solid plastic dimensional "wood." I expect this material to last much longer than real wood in the Arizona sun, which kills wood fast. Edges are rounded and smooth, with color throughout the material, not just on the surface. Surface is very slick. They fold up. All nuts, bolts, washers and screws are stainless steel, with a 5mm hex socket head, making assembly a breeze. Hardware comes in a blister pack so none is lacking. Instructions are clear. The hardest part was getting the main hinge bolt threaded through the front side holes of the seat and front legs. On the fourth chair, we finally figured it was easier to put that bolt through first (Step 2), then put the front crosspiece on (Step 1), instead of the crosspiece attaching to the front legs first. I know-- why go into such detail? But you'll see, trust me. Long story short: do Step 2 of the instructions first, then do Step 1. The chairs look and function great. They are heavy and will not blow away in high wind. I hope the finish lasts; it should because of the weatherproof material it's made of. Backs are curved and comfortable. Some Adirondacks have flat backs. These curved backs are better. The back is also high. If you want to attach a headrest pillow, you can. This one would be great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B42CY2DS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 The folding cup holder is attached too far back, at your elbow. You can remount it forward if you desire by drilling a pilot hole, but then it won't fold under the armrest completely. Being solid 3/4" polywood, the chairs can be dragged about without screeching, like metal furniture does. And I don't think the material will split and splinter like real wood does. Like all Adirondacks, you sit back, low and deep in them. Very comfortable. Now getting OUT of the chair, that takes some doing. We got some seat cushions at Lowe's that match and add some padding for the derrière, but pads aren't really necessary. Adirondack chairs are a well-known choice for outdoor furniture because of their timeless design, which includes a slanted backrest and wide armrests. The sleek matte gray Adirondack chair I chose was exactly the color I wanted. It's the ideal mid-range gray and does not have a wood grain texture, which is something I actually like because it makes the chair look cleaner and more modern. It was quite easy to assemble, even though having a second pair of hands was very helpful. Working on some components alone can be a little awkward, especially when you're trying to attach some sections together. There is a wrench included in the package and you are able to put it all together with just this. The modern material is better than those of the classic plastic models. Although traditional plastic chairs are known for being reasonably priced, they do not have the sturdiness required for prolonged outdoor use. There is no doubt the material used in these chairs provides better protection against insects, rain, and sun rays. I think the chair's heavy weight is one of the most important features. I'm confident that it can handle many weather conditions. I like how sturdy it is, especially knowing bad weather comes around . Chairs are extremely well built. Assembly takes about 30 minutes for 2 of them and isn't much of a hassle. They fold and store easily and the seating position is very comfortable with no hot spots. Cup holder is a nice touch.
