After recently purchasing a portable Ridgid 10 inch table saw, I wanted a table saw sled, mostly to provide a degree of safety when working with small pieces. I was amazed at the $$$. So, I chose a kit that was inexpensive and still had the simple features I wanted. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the instructions were loaded with helpful information and were clear and easy to follow. I read through them several times and referred to them many more times during the build. The glitch that occurred was totally my fault, so there is a lesson there. When attaching the high density plastic runners to the wood base, as per the instructions, I located and pre-drilled holes, but made the holes too small for the screws so that when I installed the screws, the plastic expanded, making the strips too wide for the slots in the table. Trying to fix that issue I made it worse by trying to trim them a bit. Now, too small. A project from a few years ago left me with a piece of “Starboard” plastic (also available from Amazon) which is used in marine applications. I was able to cut and fit some new runners and the rest of the build went well. After some touch up sanding and a good coat of wax on the saw table and the bottom of the sled, it glides with no effort. I call that success.

I like everything this kit came with but you should probably take out the predrilled on this. The rails are not predrilled like the directions say. Small thing but it is not as advertised.

The product worked as it should. Follow the directions carefully. The point where you position the rails in the bottom of the sled is very important. I suggest placing one screw in at a time and giving it a try on your saw before installing each consecutive screw. This will save you a headache.

Got the package a day late courtesy of USPS, but it is exactly as described. I read a lot of reviews complaining about having to drill your own holes and having to provide your own wood. Give me a break. Read descriptions thoroughly and all available reviews even more thoroughly. That said, the slides fit my craftsman table saw and the hardware works. The bolt for the thumb screw is a little cheesy, but I wasn't going to use it anyway. This kit is a great price for the guy who is wanting to build his own sled but doesn't want it to have wooden slides. Bottom line, buy this kit, watch a couple different YouTube videos, and build your own sled. Quit whining because you want to pay $30 for a $200 pre-made sled, that's not what this is.

I attached plastic rails and sled wouldn’t move in tracks. Measured and found plastic 95/125 not 3/4. Yet pretest of plastic showed they slide easily. Solution? Don’t screw down the rails too tight as it warps the plastic. Duh! Maybe that’s why they say don’t use a drill to screw them in. Just had to loosen a couple of screws and voila it slides easily.

I ordered this kit specifically for the miter bars, as making them can be somewhat time consuming to dial in the saw and such. Pieces fit my newer Ridgid r4518 table saw perfectly with no side to side wiggle and easy slide throughout. Jig hardware and directions are clear and accurate. Hardware is on par with what you would find in one of the jig kits here on Amazon, and I have had no issues with it at all, even in a garage that regularly hits 100° in South Florida summers. As long as you follow these directions, or another plan, you should end up with a functional crosscut sled that can be modified to handle any number of tasks (I set mine up for cross cuts, dados, miter cuts, and bevels). I plan to order another kit or two to have the parts around for some other sleds I intend to make, as the pieces in this kit were flat and true and the price low enough that I don’t see the necessity in setting up the saw and making my own slides.

I have a “temporary” saw and didn’t want to spend a lot of time (or valuable hardwood stock) building a homemade sled that may not fit my new saw coming soon. I got this to allow me to do some smaller projects for this upcoming winter. Overall, I’m impressed with the kit. The rails are shorter than I would have liked but overall it makes a good sized sled for most people. My recommendation for those looking to build a sled with this kit, make the sled wider on your preferred table side (usually the right hand side) and either order some additional t-track or double-up the t-track on the longer side. This way, you can set up a stop block for stock longer than 12” (which is common if you’re building cabinet doors and similar). Another tip is to not worry about the fence squareness much if you’re going to run a t-track. Get a good, square piece of hardwood and route or dado a channel for the track and then spend your time and energy getting that square to the sled. Once that’s done, simply butt the backer block up to it and secure.
