We have a twin-sized plastic covered foam mattress on the floor as a bed for our large dogs, and needed a durable washable cover for it. It needed to fit well yet be reasonably easy to remove, stand up to frequent washing, and look nice on its own without further covering. It also needed to be soft, but tough enough to stand up to dog toenails and the kind of things they might bring onto their bed to play with. We read a lot of reviews before choosing this specific mattress pad because it needed to be heavy enough to be durable, yet comfortable enough that the dogs would choose it over our bed. Dark color was a bonus. This mattress pad is not marketed for pets, but it fits the bill perfectly. For people with other priorities, this mattress pad is soft, comfortable, sturdy, and the stitching pattern is attractive enough to use it uncovered on a daybed or some similar situation. The mattress pad fits very securely with deep corner pockets. In fact, it occurs to me that the corners are deep enough that this cover might be difficult to put on and take off if you're dealing with a stiffer heavier mattress or don't have good access to all four corners of the bed when making it up (bed along the wall, for example). There were similar looking mattress pads at a lower price, but we chose to pay a little bit more for the extra protection and durability. ... show more

Excellent mattress topper! Very happy with it right from the start. We've been using it for a couple of weeks and it's been pretty comfortable. My cat had started having behavioral issues and peed on the mattress and I didn't think it was worth getting a new mattress until we resolved the behavioral issues and made sure that this wasn't going to happen again to a new mattress, so in the meantime I purchased a mattress encasement to seal off the smells and not have the fresh bedding smelling like cat pee, because the odor really doesn't ever go away once it's soaked into a foam mattress, no matter what treatments you use. So the encasement solved the odor issues, but it's a TPU material, so that's definitely uncomfortable and noisy to sleep on, so we needed to solve the issue of comfort and getting rid of the noise. This did the job! After pulling it out of the vacuum sealed packaging, it started to fluff right up and while my mattress isn't all that thick and there's no need for the deep pockets, it still fit perfectly and sits tight around the edges and there's no issue with it shifting or moving around at all, even with it being over top of the TPU encasement! It did exactly what was needed and provided plenty of comfort and is plenty thick without being too thick and definitely cut out all of the noise of the mattress encasement. I'm not sure about how I feel towards the waterproofing material though since it seems to contradict the cooling effect that was expected from this. As far as cooling, I don't think it does that at all, and it definitely feels like it more so just reflects your body heat back onto you. I have cooling sheets I've used with it as well and I still feel way more hot now with this mattress pad than how nice and cooling the sheets felt on their own before this. I haven't washed it yet since we've only had it for a couple of weeks and there's been no incidents for me to give any feedback about the protection level either, so currently I've only changed the sheets and comforter, not the mattress topper yet. But I definitely find this comfortable overall and very much appreciate having this mattress topper and am satisfied with the price for the comfort it's providing while we navigate the issues we're having with our cat. ... show more
