nice deep dishes will hold a lot of water and food..i tend to several ferel/stray cats oh and i plugged it in gets just warm enough to keep contents from freezing yet the cats can eat and drink well !

I like the idea of having an outdoor heated water and food dish for cats, but unfortunately I think this could be made better. The product works just fine--the heating element is fantastic, but I wish there was a way to heat one side at a time. For instance, it would be wonderful to only heat the food side and not the water side because the water would end up getting too hot while the food would be the perfect temp. But once you plug this heated pet bowl in, the heat starts to turn on and there's no button or switch to turn it off; you can only stop the heating element by unplugging the thing entirely. My second issue with this is that the bowls are simply too deep. This product is intended for cats, right? So the manufacturer must know that cats are prone to whisker fatigue, for one thing. If I put one can or pouch of wet food in one of the bowls for one of the stray cats that comes by our backyard, that cat is going to have to get their face dirty by sticking their whole head into the bowl in order to get at the wet food that's at the very bottom of this bowl. As you can see in one of the photos, these bowls are quite a few inches deep. These bowls are far deeper than even the bowls I feed my own indoor cat. This product might be better suited for a big dog, but it's not best suited for cats, who need shallower bowls that are not this deep. I think a good idea would be to fill the bottom of these bowls with some sand or gravel and put another smaller bowl on top of that to put the food and water in--this way cats can actually reach the food and water at a comfortable height. Seeing the pictures on the product page is one thing, but actually seeing the product in front of you really puts into perspective how deep these bowls really are. I would not recommend this product for cats unless you fill it with some sand/gravel like I suggested above.

We have several outdoor cats that stop by every day for food. During the winter, we even plug in a couple of small heated dog/cat houses when it gets below 40 degrees outside. However, this is the first heated food/water tray that I've tried. In the past, I would put out a bowl of water and every morning I would have to bring it inside and pour hot water into it to remove the solid block of ice that forms inside. Now I won't have to do that any more. I have dimensions listed on the photos. What I really like is that the stainless steel bowls are very easy to remove even if you're wearing gloves. The middle part gives you a nice high lip to grab onto (last photo). Each bowl holds about 4 cups of water with room to spare. This will keep me from having to fill it up every morning. I doubt I will use the other side for food because I feel the bowls are just a bit too deep and sharp cornered for cats to easily eat from. A dog would have an easier time. I personally would have preferred a single bowl instead of two bowls, but any single heated water bowls available ended up being way too large and did not have the removable bowls. This product looks well built. I'll update this review after winter to see how it held up over time.

Winter is coming and I feed feral kitties so I had to have this bowl. It's beautiful and neat, to say the least. The bowls that are removeable are much deeper than most and the cord is over 78 inches long. This is great because I can plug it into my garage which has a small hole in the side for cords and such, and I can keep it in the yard for the strays. The cord also has a durable chew proof cover so no need to worry about accidents out there. I tested the heating element earlier. I put about 2 inches of water in one of the bowls in the freezer until it was 90% frozen, then took it out and put it into the slot and timed it. In about 13 minutes it had melted enough for water to be lapped up, but still a chunk of ice in the middle. I felt inside the other bowl that was empty and could feel the heat at the bottom. Not too hot to touch but close. I'm very satisfied with this bowl!

I got this for feeding my feral cat colony. It warms everything just enough to keep it from freezing, but not enough to let them get burned. Dishes are nice and deep. Easy to clean. Excellent quality design.
