At a fair price-point, these nice neutral colored mats can't be beat. Quality is very good, with natural, durable, and thick sisal scratching surfaces. The mat's weave is made up of three colors: neutral, light grey, and a light brown. The mats arrive rolled, and because they're so well made, will hold a bent shape for a few hours, but flatten out nicely. I appreciated that the rough mats are bordered with sturdy, nicely sewn fabric that have held up even with my cats having scratched at the fabric too. On the back, there is a thick felt backer with anti-slip dots, and for those applying on carpet, there is a border of velcro strips that you can engage by peeling off some paper covers. Took my cats a few days to stop scratching at my doormats (where they had made of habit of going) and transfer over, but now they love it.

I wanted to try this because I needed something extra to keep my kittens from trying to claw the carpet in front of the fireplace. This did the job. How it works is there is a velcro strip with adhesive on one side. The adhesive connects to the carpet or hardwood. What I plan on doing when it needs to be replaced is just remove the mat and set the new one on top of the velcro. It looks like it comes in multiple colors so it's not unsightly in your home.

I have this scratch mat laying loose on the floor. My two adult cats often use it for scratching and sometimes just lay on it as though it has a calming effect. It does have the option of being taped to a surface. One cat decided it could become a toy by burrowing beneath it and moving it across the floor. Whatever trips their trigger. I would but this again. It definitely fulfilled a need to scratch on a flat surface.

I had high hopes for this mat. My four cats are obsessed with picking at our area rugs even though we have a variety of scratchers throughout the home. They won't even walk on it. A previous reviewer mentioned using it as a door mat. I'm doing the same, rather than returning it, because it is good quality, does look nice, and works perfectly as a door mat!

I have this spot in front of my bedroom, by the doorway into my room, where my cats have destroyed the carpet. I bought two of these, to put one over the spot by my bedroom and by the doorway to my other bedroom. At first I put them in front of both of my doorways, to the two bedrooms. It worked! They scratched at these mats instead of on my carpet! I since have moved them. I have one in my kitchen and the other in my living room. I have not needed it by my door to my bedroom, because having these keeps them from scratching at the carpet near the doorways into rooms. My cats love this and all 5 of them, at different times of course, scratch on these and it keeps them from tearing up the carpet by my doorways into the two bedrooms and bathroom of my apartment. I highly recommend these to other cat owners, who may have kitties that like to scratch at their carpets! These have helped and I will be ordering more in the future.

I have two cats one happily claws it all the time the other ignores it and goes for my chair. I marked 5 stars for adhesion but I don't know about the adhesion as I am in a rented space and landlord does object to anything being stuck to the floors or walls.
