My cat loves cardboard scratchers and this was perfect for him. Unlike other vertical cardboard scratchers I've purchased, this one needs no mounting, but is still completely sturdy while he scratches away, despite him being a fairly large cat (14 pounds). I purchased this about nine months ago. My cats loved it. It was easy to put together. It looked nice in my place too. Then it broke in two places. I took off a star because I was expecting this to last a few years at least. Maybe my expectations were too high. The wood is not wood. It's pressed cardboard with a wood look. It literally broke in two places. I'm on the fence about it. Not sure if I want to re order. I want something sturdy that I can replace the scratch pad part. One thing I iscovere when it fwll apart is you can disassemble this and flip over the scratch pads so they can use both sides. I like that. ... show more

Fun to build and quick, my cat uses it, and it looks good in the corner I left it in for my cat. It comes with 2 toys 1 for the inside part of the scratcher though you don't have to put it in there and another toy that I'm pretty sure is an extra for whoever buys it. it stands well and enough for my cat to get his long stretch and has a few parts I haven't used that are used for keeping it stabilized I like it 👍 ... show more

I thought this was going to be a one-day wonder but both my cats like it! The instructions are easy to follow. It comes with a screwdriver and protective feet. One reviewer suggested switching upright with horizontal but I didn't. Well, they both sleep on it and use their claws on it. And the smaller part is just roomy enough for one. :-) The joint where the two pieces meet holds a ball and bell they love to bat around. And it comes with a tube toy they both also love. I would swear it's steeped in catnip but it seems to be something better. To me it smells like WD40. Very happy the cats are happy! ... show more

    • Good Size Selection, Cats Love It, But It's Mostly Cardboard

On the plus side, our cats find this scratcher irresistable. They use it a lot, and never scratch our furniture, so it kind of pays for itself. The rubber feet (on both the horizontal and vertical sections) keep it from sliding around and make it possible to put it against a wall. It can accomodate a wall's baseboard simply by installing the rubber feet, on the vertical section, higher than the baseboard. The large size is perfect for an adult cat. They like to play with the embedded toy as well. Assembly was fairly quick and easy. All good, but I am deducting one star because it's mostly cardboard, and cats with sharp claws will gradually destroy it. In the process, the shredded cardboard makes a mess on the floor. In my experience, this scratcher lasts about 3 months, then needs to be replaced. ... show more
