First off, I whole heartedly recommend this camera. On to the review: having started on a 35 millimeter Nikon from the 70s, and then getting into the DSLR game when they were all still big clunky monstrosities, I was not expecting the svelte little package this camera came in. I unboxed it, picked it up and thought "who knew a mirror took up so much room?" I will say it was a little odd going from old school style cameras to one that does a lot of the work for you, but I found that a good deal of the buttons and switches and toggles were customizable to make it a much more familiar set up for me, then I was off to the races. It took a bit of time to get used to how Fuji lays everything out, but after a little bit of fiddling I found it to be quite intuitive. The build quality on this little guy is fantastic, with lots of confidence inspiring sturdiness and some good grip on the textured part of the body. Admittedly I did add an extra grip since I have fairly large hands and this is a pretty small camera compared to what I am used to, but I'm sure I would have managed just fine without the extra grip. I shoot a lot of extended exposure and bulbs shots so I needed something that had a wide ISO range and a wide selection of lenses to back it up. I am by no means a professional photographer but I do like things to work as they should and so far this hasn't disappointed. the lens that came with the camera shoots it just fine for everyday shooting and messing around, but using some of my older glass with adapters is where this thing really shines since you get the full manual controls. You do have to go into the menu and tell the camera you are shooting a non-standard lens for it to work correctly though. as of now I am completely sold and in love with this little guy. If anything changes or if issues crop up in the future I'll be sure to update the review. ... show more

This is an awesome beginner's camera for those looking to upgrade from the camera on their phone! I ended up buying just the base and adding the 18-55 kit lens (international version to save $$$). It takes beautiful pictures in auto mode. I'm still learning the manual controls. Love the retro look and build of this camera. Much more fun to shoot with than traditional Nikon or Canon cameras. I love the selfie flip out screen. Really fun to take selfies with my family. Hopefully Fuji incorporates the flip out screen for all of their mirrorless cameras going forward. I also considered the X-T20 and X-T2 but didn't feel I'd notice the upgrades as a beginner (I was right). This is the best bargain right now. $400 for the base w/out lens. ... show more

I am dumbfounded at both the feature set, and the picture quality. The state of the art continues to advance, apparently, as this camera outperforms my Xpro1 in most ways. Incredible for the price. My biggest gripe is that it is too small, such that I inadvertantly change settings using buttons on the back while handling it taking pictures. I don’t have particularly large hands, it’s just that small. Overall, I am thrilled with it, and have already taken multiple keepers, the kind you print and cherish. Factoring in how small it is (meaning I am much more willing to bring it along when leaving the house), it’s low price, functionality, and image quality, it has become my favorite camera. I have GAS and don’t shy away from buying expensive gear, so that is saying a lot. It also helps that I already have a good Fuji lens collection. ... show more

After a month of deliberation I decided to make the jump into a new hobby and purchase the new Fujifilm X-T100. So far I am very happy with my purchase! As a newbie photographer this camera is everything I wanted and more. In my opinion I've found this to be a very capable camera, in a small package, at a reasonable price. I compared specs between every similar ~24MP, APS-C, Mirrorless, interchangeable lens camera on the market and finally purchased the X-T100. There are better cameras on the market for sure but I didn't want to spend over a grand on my first camera. I feel that my X-T100 will be a very capable camera to learn photography with. Pros: Small Size for even a mirrorless camera Quality Build EVF included APS-C sized sensor Articulating touchscreen Reasonable price In the Fujifilm X-Mount Family Cons: Bayer Sensor instead of X-Trans like the X-T20 Difficulty finding a case (brand new model) ... show more

    • Good camera, but not for long exposures

Overall nice camera - small, lightweight. Reasonably convenient to use. The kit lens is extremely light (though feels a little flimsy). Amazing image stabilization both in the 15-45 kit lens and the longer 50-230 telephoto. Convenient articulated LCD display. Unfortunately, this camera is not the best for long exposure photography. The image is clean for up to about two seconds of shutter speed; at 5-10 seconds there are isolated hot pixels (most of them red); at 15-30 seconds there are many hot pixels - more like a starry night. I didn't even try Bulb setting for exposure longer than 30 seconds. I tested it at ISO200, with the lens cap on, at a reasonable ambient temperature of about 75F, with "long exposure noise reduction" turned on. I thought I have a faulty camera, so I sent it to Fujifilm warranty repair center and they adjusted it a little, but the problem is still there. By the way, very decent experience with the Fujifilm warranty repair center in New Jersey - we had good communication and they were reasonable fast. Of course, I had to pay for shipping the camera to them. The camera is still quite good if you are not shooting long-exposure (especially at night when you have lots of black color) or you don't mind some hot pixels noise. ... show more
