  • Was hoping for better, but it's really good...
First, i have to say...i can't be too hard on the product due to the price. I knew that for the price it wasn't going to blow me away, my Note 8 produces much higher quality images. The main reason i bought this camera is for use on my kayak, there's nothing more terrifying than carrying my pro DSLR and lenses on my kayak with me, those days are now over, and i no longer fear water splashing my camera. I don't high quality images while kayaking, good snapshots are all i am looking for, and getting those snapshots without fear of getting my camera wet. The XP140 really fits the bill here. I will just dive right into this review with the things like most about this camera.... First off, it has 20 shooting modes...that's right, 20 ! With SR Auto (Scene Recognition) being my favorite because i just want to grab my camera and shoot without having to dig into the menu. One of the shooting modes is called "ADVANCED FILTER" which gives you 17 more custom filters like fisheye, high key, toy camera, and more, that you choose manually. There's self timers, timelapse modes, movie modes, wireless communication to your phone using the Fuji app. Auto / manual focus, you can change the iso setting. There are many options with this camera, i have been a photographer for many years, so i know my way around camera functions pretty well. But if you're fairly new to cameras, i do suggest reading the manual to become familiar with everything this camera is capable of. The battery life is fantastic, i can shoot stills for 3 or 4 days on a single charge with average use, and turning it off when i am not shooting...video will greatly reduce battery life, along with extreme temps. The things i do not like, but i knew to expect from a camera in this price point. First off, the image quality can be really good, and it can be really bad...it handles bright light as well as a cheaper cell phone...my Galaxy Note 8 shoots higher quality images than this camera. But i didn't buy it for greatness, i bought it to record kayaking fun, and memories on the water with friends. And it does that very well. I like to transfer the images to my phone and edit them with Snapseed before posting them online. The second this is the video, the 4K is really worthless at 15 fps, the 1080p 60 is really good and is what i use. The microphone quality is horrid, it's like the older GoPro cameras inside the water proof cases, you really have to yell at the camera for it pick anything up. The under water video is really good as long as the water is clear, or you're near the surface on a sunny day. There is also no cap for the lens, the lens itself has a protective clear lens over it, but if that becomes scratched there is no way to fix it. It's attractive, light weight, fairly easy to use, very rugged, and water proof ! All in all, i am very pleased with this camera, my overall rating is 5 stars...it's hard to beat for the price, but i think some of the features could have been done a little better, especially the microphones, and the 4K 15 makes no sense at all. I also purchased a floaty hand strap for it in case i drop it, and it does float the camera well. (The included images have been post processed to share online, some color and exposure correction, and sharpening has been done) ....i wasn't thinking about doing a review when i shot these, or i would have kept the originals. But it shows what you can achieve with this camera. The included images were all taken during my first outing with the XP140, i like it a lot ! ... show more

  • Great pictures. I went down about 25 to 30 feet, and still good light for good pics.
I like the size and durability of this little camera. And I'm very happy with the photos. The photos are easily transferred to a cell phone if you have a good wifi connection.

  • misleading advertisement: this is a used camera, not a new one....
I already have one of these but wanted a second one for work. I am not complaining about the quality because it is good enough for what I use it for. I am miffed because the listing misleads one to think that it is a brand new camera, not a used one. I almost just sent it back but went ahead and opened it. It looks new but it is not. I hope the seller will honor the warrantee as if it were a new camera (not that I expect anything to go wrong with it). ... show more

  • Its tough

  • Disappointing image and LCD quality
I use a FinePix XP80 for work (company issued) and I take a lot of pics (at least 200 to 250 a day for work progress documentation and site reports) during long days at the construction site and found the toughness of the XP80 (dropped in concrete and bounced off rebar enough times) and the image quality to be good. So I decided to get the FinePix XP140 for myself for work and play, thinking it would be a good upgrade on the XP80, especially for image transfer using Bluetooth. On a perfectly sunny day, the image quality on the XP80 (using Auto mode) was still much better than the pics taken using my XP140, as the XP140 pics appeared "washed out" when using SR Auto mode (regular Auto mode on the XP80 is not available on the XP140). Even the image quality of the 2.7 inch size LCD on the XP80 is better than the "grainy", CRT monitor look than I get on the 3 inch LCD on the XP140. I thought it was a one off thing, but it looks like other buyers have a similar opinion on the image quality. To say i'm disappointed in the XP140 is an understatement, because Fujifilm makes great cameras. Finally, in an effort to cram more features into the XP140, they've made navigating the menus more complicated that it needed to be in comparison to the XP80 and XP130. It takes forever to just find the date/time stamp or macro feature. Hopefully these issues can be sorted out with a firmware update, hate to have this camera become a paper weight on my desk. ... show more

  • Performs very well
This seems like a very nice point and shoot Camera. We replaced an camera whose seals needed replacement. The pictures on the Fuji are a bit sharper and it can connect to our smart phone via Bluetooth so we can post right away. I still have a Nikon SLR but for most shots it is just handy to use this and carry it in my pocket. We used it in the Canadian Rockies and it performed well. We have not used it in water yet. My only knock is the battery life is not close to those in our other cameras. That said I learned to carry a spare. You can get two spares with a charger for $15 from Amazon. You really need a couple to spares. ... show more
