THE LEARNING CURVE FOR THE Q5 WAS SHORT, THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE CLEAR AND IT CAME WITH EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO GET STARTED. I'VE USED AN HVLP ONCE BEFORE BUT THE Q5 IS SO MUCH MORE QUIET, THE SETUP IS VERY SIMPLE AND CLEANUP WAS IS FAST. LOOKING FORWARD TO USING IT ON MORE PROJECTS.

    • Quality of finished job with minimal cleanup and overspray
I can’t compare the Q5 Platinum to other Fuji models available for purchase but I can tell you I did a lot of research not only on the Fuji but also on other types of HVLP guns and compressors on the market. I settled on the Fuji because I was impressed with how the pump and guns are built. I have a lot of experience with old spray systems from my automotive retoration days of 30 years ago but now I have need for a spray system designed to spray multiple types of products on jobs from construction remodel and cabinetry to still needing to apply an occasional finish to a car or piece of equipment. The HVLP system can do all I need plus more. I settled on the Q5 Platinum because of it’s versatility. I read all of the stories about the HVLP pumps being excessively noisy. I don’t know how the others compare to the Q5 but the Q5 is not noisy when compared to other jobs done in the shop. I am surprised the amount of air generated by the Q5. My first job was applying a water based finish to a bar I built for a customer. The GXPC gun has a 400cc cup on it. After some minor gun adjustment I was applying the finish at the lowest amount of air available with no thinning of the spray material. The fan was easy to adjust depending on my spray needs. I was very impressed with the amount of control I had with the gun. I was spraying in the shop with no noticeable spray drift on surrounding surfaces. I was very impressed with the final finish results. I did notice depending on how I had the gun adjusted I could empty the 400 cc cup in about 2 minutes. I am thinking about getting a 1 qt cup for future jobs as I spent as much time filling the gun as I did spraying. The positives I see with the HVLP gun is the compactness and portability of the compressor and gun system. The ability to spray any type of product needing sprayed in the home remodel industry, and the reduction of spray drift while spraying. The negatives is how quick you go thru a cup of material and how the cup will need tilted when spraying different angles. All in all the new HVLP spray system is far better than the old suction feed systems from years ago and will spray an awesome fan pattern on 6-9 psi compared to 40-60 psi on the suction guns I used in the past. ... show more

I have used other spray systems and this is the BEST yet. Quiet, easy to use and super smooth finish. So glad I chose the top of the line Fuji. Well worth the price to be able to use one system for any coating I want to use

    • Took a dump right out of the box
I bought the entire setup well over $2k. Got all ready to do a big kitchen job and the turbine began surging every few minutes right out of the box. Got the warranty department on the phone and they concluded it was the turbine. The warranty department said they would send me a new unit when I dropped mine off at UPS. Sounds great right? That’s not what happened. Nearly ten days latter the replacement arrived. I’ve read a bunch of reviews about people loving this machine but it’s kinda like a horse that left you stranded.     • Easy To Use and Versatile
My wife wanted me to paint our cabinet doors, but I didn't want to hand paint them and have a garbage finish...and the only way to achieve a nice finish, I figured, was to buy a sprayer. I went with the Q5 Platinum because my ultimate goal was to learn how to do automotive painting, which the other models weren't capable of. Because of another review on here, I'm using Sherwin-Williams' Kem Aqua Plus series of paints for the cabinets and the Q5 lays it down impressively. It makes me look like a pro.
